Mateusza 11
1 Kiedy Jezus skończył rozkazywać swoim dwunastu uczniom, odszedł stamtąd, aby nauczać i głosić w ich miastach.
And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of his charge to his twelve disciples, that he departed thence, to teach and to preach in their cities.
2 A gdy Jan usłyszał w więzieniu o czynach Chrystusa, posłał dwóch ze swoich uczniów;
And John, having heard in the prison of the works of Christ, sent by his disciples,
3 Z pytaniem: Czy ty jesteś tym, który ma przyjść, czy mamy oczekiwać innego?
and said to him, Art thou he that is to come, or are we to look for another?
4 A Jezus odpowiedział im: Idźcie i oznajmijcie Janowi, co słyszycie i widzicie.
And Jesus answered and said to them, Go and tell John what ye hear and see.
5 Ślepi widzą, chromi chodzą, trędowaci zostają oczyszczeni, głusi słyszą, umarli zmartwychwstają, a ubogim opowiadana jest ewangelia.
The blind receive sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised, and to the poor good tidings are brought;
6 A błogosławiony jest ten, kto się nie zgorszy z mojego powodu.
and blessed is he, whoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in me.
7 A gdy odeszli, Jezus zaczął mówić do tłumów o Janie: Co wyszliście oglądać na pustyni? Trzcinę kołyszącą się na wietrze?
And, as these were going, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? the reeds shaken by the wind?
8 Ale co wyszliście zobaczyć? Człowieka ubranego w miękkie szaty? Oto ci, którzy noszą miękkie szaty, są w domach królewskich.
But why did ye go out? to see a man clothed in soft raiment? Lo! they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.
9 Ale co wyszliście zobaczyć? Proroka? Owszem, mówię wam, nawet więcej niż proroka.
But why did ye go out? to see a prophet? Yea, I say to you, and more than a prophet.
10 Bo on jest tym, o którym jest napisane: Oto ja posyłam mego posłańca przed twoim obliczem, który przygotuje twoją drogę przed tobą.
For this is he of whom it is written: “Lo! I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.”
11 Zaprawdę powiadam wam: Nie powstał z tych, którzy rodzą się z kobiet, większy od Jana Chrzciciela. Ale ten, kto jest najmniejszy w królestwie niebieskim, jest większy niż on.
Truly do I say to you, Among those born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist. But he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
12 A od dni Jana Chrzciciela aż dotąd królestwo niebieskie doznaje gwałtu i gwałtownicy je zdobywają.
And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent seize upon it.
13 Bo wszyscy Prorocy i Prawo prorokowali aż do Jana.
For all the Prophets and the Law, until John, prophesied.
14 A jeśli chcecie [to] przyjąć, on jest Eliaszem, który miał przyjść.
And if ye are willing to receive it, he is the Elijah who was to come.
15 Kto ma uszy do słuchania, niech słucha.
He that hath ears, let him hear.
16 Ale do kogo przyrównam to pokolenie? Podobne jest do dzieci, które siedzą na rynku i wołają na swoich towarzyszy:
But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the markets, who call to their fellows,
17 Graliśmy wam na flecie, a nie tańczyliście; śpiewaliśmy pieśni żałobne, a nie płakaliście.
and say, We piped to you, and ye did not dance; we sung a dirge, and ye did not lament.
18 Przyszedł bowiem Jan, nie jadł i nie pił, a mówią: Ma demona.
For John came neither eating nor drinking; and they say, He hath a demon.
19 Przyszedł Syn Człowieczy, jedząc i pijąc, a mówią: Oto żarłok i pijak, przyjaciel celników i grzeszników. Lecz usprawiedliwiona jest mądrość przez swoje dzieci.
The Son of man came eating and drinking; and they say, Behold, a glutton and a wine-bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! But wisdom is justified by her works.
20 Wtedy zaczął ganić miasta, w których działo się najwięcej jego cudów, że nie pokutowały, [mówiąc]:
Then he began to upbraid the cities wherein most of his miracles were done, because they did not repent.
21 Biada tobie, Korozain! Biada tobie, Betsaido! Bo gdyby w Tyrze i Sydonie działy się te cuda, które się w was dokonały, dawno by w worze i popiele pokutowały.
Woe to thee, Chorazin! woe to thee, Bethsaida! for if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22 Ale mówię wam: Lżej będzie Tyrowi i Sydonowi w dniu sądu niż wam.
But I say to you, It will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.
23 A ty, Kafarnaum, które jesteś wywyższone aż do nieba, aż do piekła będziesz strącone. Bo gdyby w Sodomie działy się cuda, które się w tobie dokonały, przetrwałaby aż do dziś. (Hadēs g86)
And thou, Capernaum! shalt thou be exalted to heaven? Thou shalt be brought down to the underworld; for if the miracles which were done in thee had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. (Hadēs g86)
24 Ale mówię wam: Lżej będzie ziemi Sodomy w dzień sądu niż tobie.
But I say to you, that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
25 W tym czasie Jezus powiedział: Wysławiam cię, Ojcze, Panie nieba i ziemi, że zakryłeś te sprawy przed mądrymi i roztropnymi, a objawiłeś je niemowlętom.
At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that, though thou didst hide these things from the wise and discerning, thou didst reveal them to babes.
26 Tak, Ojcze, gdyż tak się tobie upodobało.
Yea, Father, for so it seemed good in thy sight.
27 Wszystko zostało mi dane od mego Ojca i nikt nie zna Syna, tylko Ojciec, ani nikt nie zna Ojca, tylko Syn i ten, komu Syn zechce objawić.
All things were delivered to me by my Father; and no one knoweth the Son but the Father; nor doth any one know the Father, but the Son, and he to whom it is the will of the Son to reveal him.
28 Przyjdźcie do mnie wszyscy, którzy jesteście spracowani i obciążeni, a ja wam dam odpoczynek.
Come to me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Weźcie na siebie moje jarzmo i uczcie się ode mnie, że jestem cichy i pokornego serca, a znajdziecie odpoczynek dla waszych dusz.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest for your souls.
30 Moje jarzmo bowiem jest przyjemne, a moje brzemię lekkie.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
