1 Wspomnij, PANIE, na to, co nas spotkało. Spójrz i zobacz nasze pohańbienie.
Remember, O Jehovah, what is come upon us; consider, and see our reproach.
2 Nasze dziedzictwo przypadło obcym, a nasze domy – cudzoziemcom.
Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.
3 Staliśmy się sierotami, bez ojca; nasze matki są jak wdowy.
We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows.
4 Własną wodę pijemy za pieniądze, nasze drwa za pieniądze kupujemy.
Our water have we to drink for money, our wood cometh unto us for a price.
5 Prześladowanie ciąży na naszym karku. Pracujemy, [a] nie dają nam odpocząć.
Our pursuers are on our necks: we are weary, we have no rest.
6 Podawaliśmy rękę Egipcjanom i Asyryjczykom, aby nasycić się chlebem.
We have given the hand to Egypt, [and] to Asshur, to be satisfied with bread.
7 Nasi ojcowie zgrzeszyli, nie ma ich, a my nosimy ich nieprawość.
Our fathers have sinned, [and] they are not; and we bear their iniquities.
8 Niewolnicy panują nad nami, nie ma nikogo, kto by nas wybawił z ich ręki.
Bondmen rule over us: there is no deliverer out of their hand.
9 Z narażeniem życia szukamy swego chleba z powodu miecza [na] pustyni.
We have to get our bread at the risk of our lives, because of the sword of the wilderness.
10 Nasza skóra jak piec zaciemniła się od strasznego głodu.
Our skin gloweth like an oven, because of the burning heat of the famine.
11 Kobiety na Syjonie hańbiono, a panny – w miastach Judy.
They have ravished the women in Zion, the maids in the cities of Judah.
12 Książęta byli wieszani ich rękami, oblicza starszych nie uszanowano.
Princes were hanged up by their hand; the faces of elders were not honoured.
13 Młodzieńców wzięli do młócenia, dzieci padały pod [ciężarem] drewna.
The young men have borne the mill, and the youths have stumbled under the wood.
14 Starcy w bramach już nie siadają, młodzieńcy przestali [śpiewać] swoje pieśni.
The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their music.
15 Radość zniknęła z naszych serc, nasze pląsanie zamieniło się w żałobę.
The joy of our heart hath ceased; our dance is turned into mourning.
16 Spadła korona z naszej głowy. Biada nam, bo zgrzeszyliśmy!
The crown is fallen from our head: woe unto us, for we have sinned!
17 Dlatego nasze serce omdlewa, dlatego nasze oczy są zaćmione.
For this our heart is faint; for these things our eyes have grown dim,
18 Z powodu spustoszonej góry Syjonu lisy chodzą po niej.
Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate: foxes walk over it.
19 Ty, PANIE, trwasz na wieki, twój tron z pokolenia na pokolenie.
Thou, Jehovah, dwellest for ever; thy throne is from generation to generation.
20 Czemu zapominasz o nas na wieki i opuszczasz nas na tak długi czas?
Wherefore dost thou forget us for ever, dost thou forsake us so long time?
21 Nawróć nas do siebie, PANIE, a będziemy nawróceni; odnów nasze dni, jak dawniej.
Turn thou us unto thee, Jehovah, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.
22 Czy odrzuciłeś nas całkowicie? Czy bardzo się na nas gniewałeś?
Or is it that thou hast utterly rejected us? Wouldest thou be exceeding wroth against us?
