Księga Sędziów 6
1 Potem synowie Izraela czynili to, co złe w oczach PANA. Wydał ich więc PAN w ręce Midianitów na siedem lat.
And the children of Israel did that which was evil in the sight of YHWH, and YHWH delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.
2 A ręka Midianitów wzmocniła się nad Izraelem, [tak że] synowie Izraela kopali sobie przed Midianitami kryjówki w górach, jaskinie i warownie.
And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel; and because of Midian the children of Israel made for themselves the dens which are in the mountains, and the caves, and the strongholds.
3 Bywało, że gdy Izrael coś zasiał, przychodzili Midianici, Amalekici i ludzie ze wschodu i najeżdżali go;
And so it was, when Israel had sown, that Midian, Amalek, and the Kedemites would come up against them.
4 I rozbijali obóz naprzeciwko niego, i niszczyli plony ziemi aż po granice Gazy. Nie pozostawiali nic na pożywienie Izraelitom – ani owiec, ani wołów, ani osłów.
And they camped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, as far as Gaza, and they left no sustenance in Israel, as well as sheep, or ox, or donkey.
5 Przybywali bowiem ze swymi stadami i namiotami, a przychodzili jak szarańcza tak licznie, że nie można było zliczyć ich ani ich wielbłądów. Tak wkraczali do ziemi, aby ją spustoszyć.
For they came up with their livestock and their tents and their camels. They would come in like locusts in number, and they were innumerable. And they came into the land to ravage it.
6 Dlatego Izrael bardzo zubożał z powodu Midianitów i synowie Izraela wołali do PANA.
Israel was brought very low because of Midian; and the children of Israel cried to YHWH.
7 A gdy synowie Izraela wołali do PANA z powodu Midianitów;
It happened, when the children of Israel cried to YHWH because of Midian,
8 PAN posłał do synów Izraela proroka, który powiedział do nich: Tak mówi PAN, Bóg Izraela: Ja wyprowadziłem was z ziemi Egiptu i wywiodłem was z domu niewoli.
that YHWH sent a prophet to the children of Israel, and he said to them, "Thus says YHWH, the God of Israel, 'I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage;
9 I wyrwałem was z rąk Egipcjan oraz z rąk wszystkich, którzy was trapili. Wypędziłem ich przed wami i dałem wam ich ziemię;
and I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all who oppressed you, and drove them out from before you, and gave you their land;
10 I powiedziałem wam: Ja jestem PAN, wasz Bóg, nie bójcie się bogów Amorytów, w których ziemi mieszkacie; lecz nie posłuchaliście mego głosu.
and I said to you, "I am YHWH your God; you shall not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell." But you have not listened to my voice.'"
11 Wtedy przyszedł Anioł PANA i stanął pod dębem, który stał w Ofra, należącym do Joasza, Abiezerita. A jego syn Gedeon młócił zboże w tłoczni, aby [je] ukryć przed Midianitami.
The angel of YHWH came, and sat under the oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained to Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.
12 Wówczas ukazał mu się Anioł PANA i powiedział do niego: PAN z tobą, dzielny wojowniku.
The angel of YHWH appeared to him, and said to him, "YHWH is with you, mighty warrior."
13 Gedeon mu odpowiedział: Mój Panie, proszę, jeśli PAN jest z nami, dlaczego przyszło na nas to wszystko? Gdzie są teraz wszystkie jego cuda, o których opowiadali nam nasi ojcowie, mówiąc: Czy PAN nie wyprowadził nas z Egiptu? A teraz PAN nas opuścił i wydał w ręce Midianitów.
Gideon said to him, "Oh, my lord, if YHWH is with us, why then has all this happened to us? Where are all his wondrous works which our fathers told us of, saying, 'Didn't YHWH bring us up from Egypt?' But now YHWH has cast us off, and delivered us into the hand of Midian."
14 Wtedy PAN spojrzał na niego i powiedział: Idź w tej swojej mocy, a wybawisz Izraela z rąk Midianitów. Czyż nie ja cię posłałem?
And YHWH looked at him, and said, "Go in this strength of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian. Look, haven't I sent you?"
15 [On] zaś powiedział do niego: Mój Panie, proszę, czym wybawię Izraela? Oto moja rodzina jest biedna w Manassesa, a ja [jestem] najmniejszy w domu swego ojca.
He said to him, "O Lord, how shall I save Israel? Look, my family is the poorest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house."
16 I PAN powiedział do niego: Ponieważ [ja] będę z tobą, pobijesz Midianitów jak jednego męża.
YHWH said to him, "Surely I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man."
17 A [on] mu odpowiedział: Jeśli znalazłem łaskę w twoich oczach, daj mi znak, że to ty rozmawiasz ze mną.
He said to him, "If now I have found favor in your sight, then show me a sign that it is you who talk with me.
18 Nie odchodź stąd, proszę, aż wrócę do ciebie i przyniosę ci swoją ofiarę i położę ją przed tobą. I odpowiedział: Poczekam, aż wrócisz.
Please do not go away, until I come to you, and bring out my present, and lay it before you." He said, "I will wait until you come back."
19 Gedeon poszedł więc i przyrządził koźlę oraz przaśne chleby z jednej efy mąki. Mięso włożył do kosza, a polewkę mięsną wlał do garnka i przyniósł to do niego pod dąb, i ofiarował.
Gideon went in, and made ready a kid, and unleavened cakes of an ephah of meal: the meat he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out to him under the oak, and presented it.
20 I Anioł Boga powiedział do niego: Weź mięso i przaśne chleby i połóż na tej skale, a polewkę wylej. I tak uczynił.
The angel of God said to him, "Take the meat and the unleavened cakes, and lay them on this rock, and pour out the broth." And he did so.
21 Wtedy Anioł PANA wyciągnął koniec laski, którą miał w ręce, i dotknął mięsa oraz przaśników; i wydobył się ogień ze skały i strawił mięso i przaśne chleby. Potem Anioł PANA zniknął sprzed jego oczu.
Then the angel of YHWH put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there went up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and the angel of YHWH departed out of his sight.
22 A gdy Gedeon zrozumiał, że to był Anioł PANA, powiedział: Ach, Panie BOŻE! Widziałem bowiem Anioła PANA twarzą w twarz.
Gideon saw that he was the angel of YHWH; and Gideon said, "Alas, Lord YHWH. Because I have seen the angel of YHWH face to face."
23 I PAN mu powiedział: Pokój z tobą. Nie bój się, nie umrzesz.
YHWH said to him, "Peace be to you. Do not be afraid. You shall not die."
24 Dlatego więc Gedeon zbudował tam ołtarz dla PANA i nazwał go: PAN jest pokojem. Do dziś znajduje się [on] w Ofra Abiezerytów.
Then Gideon built an altar there to YHWH, and called it "YHWH is Peace." To this day it is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
25 Tej nocy PAN mu powiedział: Weź młodego cielca, który [należy do] twego ojca, [oraz] drugiego cielca siedmioletniego i zburz ołtarz Baala należący do twego ojca, i zetnij gaj, który jest przy nim;
It happened the same night, that YHWH said to him, "Take your father's bull, even the second bull seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the Asherah that is beside it;
26 A zbuduj ołtarz dla PANA, swego Boga, na szczycie tej skały, na równym miejscu; weź tego drugiego cielca i złóż z niego całopalenie na drwach z gaju, który zetniesz.
and build an altar to YHWH your God on the top of this stronghold, in the orderly manner, and take the second bull, and offer a burnt offering with the wood of the Asherah which you shall cut down."
27 Wziął więc Gedeon dziesięciu mężczyzn spośród swoich sług i uczynił tak, jak PAN mu rozkazał. A ponieważ bał się domu swego ojca i mieszkańców miasta, nie uczynił tego za dnia, lecz uczynił to w nocy.
Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as YHWH had spoken to him: and it came about, because he feared his father's household and the men of the city, so that he could not do it by day, that he did it by night.
28 A gdy mieszkańcy miasta wstali wczesnym rankiem, zobaczyli zburzony ołtarz Baala i ścięty gaj, który był obok niego, i tego drugiego cielca złożonego na całopalenie na zbudowanym ołtarzu.
When the men of the city arose early in the morning, look, the altar of Baal was broken down, and the Asherah was cut down that was by it, and the second bull was offered on the altar that was built.
29 I mówili jeden do drugiego: Któż to uczynił? A gdy się o to pytali i dowiadywali, powiedzieli: Uczynił to Gedeon, syn Joasza.
And they said to one another, "Who has done this thing?" When they inquired and asked, they said, "Gideon the son of Joash has done this thing."
30 Wtedy mieszkańcy miasta powiedzieli do Joasza: Wyprowadź swego syna, niech umrze, gdyż zburzył ołtarz Baala i ściął gaj, który był przy nim.
Then the men of the city said to Joash, "Bring out your son, that he may die, because he has broken down the altar of Baal, and because he has cut down the Asherah that was by it."
31 A Joasz odpowiedział wszystkim, którzy stali dokoła niego: Czy chcecie stawać w obronie Baala? Czy chcecie go wybawić? Kto chciałby go bronić, niech umrze tego ranka. Jeśli jest bogiem, niech sam się spiera o to, że zburzono jego ołtarz.
Joash said to all who stood against him, "Will you contend for Baal? Or will you save him? He who will contend for him, let him be put to death while it is yet morning: if he is a god, let him contend for himself, because someone has broken down his altar."
32 I nazwano go tego dnia Jerubbaal, mówiąc: Niech Baal się spiera z nim, bo zburzył on jego ołtarz.
Therefore on that day he named him Jerubbaal, saying, "Let Baal contend against him, because he has broken down his altar."
33 Wtedy wszyscy Midianici i Amalekici oraz ludzie ze wschodu zebrali się razem, przeprawili się [przez Jordan] i rozbili obóz w dolinie Jizreel.
Then all Midian and Amalek and the Kedemites assembled themselves together; and they crossed over, and camped in the Valley of Jezreel.
34 Lecz Duch PANA ogarnął Gedeona, a on zadął w trąbę i zwołał do siebie dom Abiezera.
But the Spirit of YHWH came on Gideon; and he blew a trumpet; and Abiezer was gathered together after him.
35 I wyprawił posłańców do całego [pokolenia] Manassesa, które zebrało się przy nim. Wysłał też posłańców do Aszera, do Zebulona i Neftalego; i wyruszyli im na spotkanie.
He sent messengers throughout all Manasseh; and they also were gathered together after him: and he sent messengers to Asher, and to Zebulun, and to Naphtali; and they came up to meet them.
36 Wtedy Gedeon powiedział do Boga: Jeśli moją ręką wybawisz Izraela, jak powiedziałeś;
Gideon said to God, "If you will save Israel by my hand, as you have spoken,
37 To ja położę runo wełny na klepisku. Jeśli rosa spadnie tylko na runo, a cała ziemia [będzie] sucha, wtedy będę wiedział, że moją ręką wybawisz Izraela, jak powiedziałeś.
look, I will put a fleece of wool on the threshing floor; if there is dew on the fleece only, and it is dry on all the ground, then shall I know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you have spoken."
38 I tak się stało. Gdy wstał nazajutrz, ścisnął runo i wycisnął rosę z runa – pełną czaszę wody.
It was so; for he rose up early on the next day, and pressed the fleece together, and wrung the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water.
39 Gedeon powiedział jeszcze do Boga: Niech nie zapłonie twój gniew przeciwko mnie, że przemówię jeszcze raz. Pozwól, proszę, że powtórzę doświadczenie z runem: niech będzie suche tylko [samo] runo, a na całej ziemi niech będzie rosa.
Gideon said to God, "Do not let your anger be kindled against me, and I will speak but this once. Please let me make one more test with the fleece; let it now be dry only on the fleece, and on all the ground let there be dew."
40 I Bóg tak uczynił tej nocy: samo runo było suche, a na całej ziemi była rosa.
God did so that night, for it was dry on the fleece only, and there was dew all over the ground.
