Księga Sędziów 12
1 Potem zebrali się mężczyźni Efraimici i wyruszyli na północ, po czym powiedzieli do Jeftego: Dlaczego poszedłeś walczyć przeciwko synom Ammona, a nas nie wezwałeś, abyśmy poszli z tobą? Spalimy ogniem twój dom nad tobą.
And the me of Ephraim gathered themselues together, and went Northwarde, and saide vnto Iphtah, Wherefore wentest thou to fight against the children of Ammon, and diddest not call vs to goe with thee? we will therefore burne thine house vpon thee with fire.
2 I Jefte powiedział im: Ja i mój lud mieliśmy niemały spór z synami Ammona; i wzywałem was, lecz nie wybawiliście mnie z ich rąk.
And Iphtah said vnto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon, and when I called you, ye deliuered me not out of their handes.
3 A widząc, że nie chcieliście mnie wybawić, naraziłem swoje życie i wyruszyłem na synów Ammona, a PAN wydał ich w moje ręce. Dlaczego więc przyszliście dziś do mnie, by walczyć ze mną?
So when I sawe that ye deliuered me not, I put my life in mine hands, and went vpon the children of Ammon: so the Lord deliuered them into mine handes. Wherefore then are ye come vpon me nowe to fight against me?
4 Zebrał więc Jefte wszystkich mężczyzn z Gileadu i walczył z Efraimem. I mężczyźni z Gileadu pobili Efraima, gdyż ci mówili: Wy, Gileadczycy, [którzy mieszkacie] między Efraimitami a Manassesytami, jesteście zbiegami z Efraima.
Then Iphtah gathered all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are runnagates of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.
5 I Gileadczycy odebrali brody Jordanu Efraimowi. A gdy uciekający Efraimita mówił: Pozwólcie mi przejść, wtedy mężczyźni Gileadu pytali: Czy jesteś Efraimitą? A jeśli odpowiadał: Nie;
Also the Gileadites tooke the passages of Iorden before the Ephraimites, and when the Ephraimites that were escaped, saide, Let me passe, then the men of Gilead said vnto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay,
6 Wtedy mówili do niego: Wymów teraz: szibbolet, a ten mówił: sibbolet, bo inaczej nie mógł wymówić. Wtedy chwytali go i zabijali przy brodach Jordanu. I poległo w tym czasie z Efraima czterdzieści dwa tysiące.
Then said they vnto him, Say nowe Shibboleth: and he said, Sibboleth: for he could not so pronounce: then they tooke him, and slewe him at the passages of Iorden: and there fel at that time of the Ephraimites two and fourtie thousand.
7 A Jefte Gileadczyk sądził Izraela przez sześć lat. Potem umarł Jefte Gileadczyk i został pogrzebany w [jednym] z miast Gileadu.
And Iphtah iudged Israel sixe yeere: then dyed Iphtah the Gileadite, and was buryed in one of the cities of Gilead.
8 Po nim sądził Izraela Ibsan z Betlejem.
After him Ibzan of Beth-lehem iudged Israel,
9 A miał trzydziestu synów i trzydzieści córek, które powydawał z domu [za mąż], a spoza domu sprowadził trzydzieści żon dla swoich synów. I sądził Izraela przez siedem lat.
Who had thirtie sonnes and thirtie daughters, which he sent out, and tooke in thirtie daughters from abroade for his sonnes. and he iudged Israel seuen yeere.
10 Potem Ibsan umarł i został pogrzebany w Betlejem.
Then Ibzan died, and was buryed at Bethlehem.
11 A po nim sądził Izraela Elon Zebulonita. Sądził on Izraela przez dziesięć lat.
And after him iudged Israel Elon, a Zebulonite, and he iudged Israel tenne yeere.
12 Potem Elon Zebulonita umarł i został pogrzebany w Ajjalonie, w ziemi Zebulona.
Then Elon the Zebulonite dyed, and was buryed in Aijalon in the countrey of Zebulun.
13 A po nim sądził Izraela Abdon, syn Hillela, Piratończyk.
And after him Abdon the sonne of Hillel the Pirathonite iudged Israel.
14 Miał on czterdziestu synów i trzydziestu wnuków, którzy jeździli na siedemdziesięciu oślętach. Sądził on Izraela przez osiem lat.
And he had fourty sonnes and thirtie nephewes that rode on seuentie assecoltes: and he iudged Israel eight yeeres.
15 Potem umarł Abdon, syn Hillela, Piratończyk, i został pogrzebany w Piratonie, w ziemi Efraima, na górze Amalekitów.
Then dyed Abdon the sonne of Hillel the Pirathonite, and was buryed in Pirathon, in ye lande of Ephraim, in the Mount of the Amalekites.
