Jeremiasza 26
1 Na początku królowania Joakima, syna Jozjasza, króla Judy, doszło to słowo od PANA mówiące:
This message came from the Lord at the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim, son of Josiah king of Judah,
2 Tak mówi PAN: Stań na dziedzińcu domu PANA i mów do wszystkich miast Judy, do tych, którzy przychodzą oddać pokłon w domu PANA, wszystkie słowa, które nakazuję ci mówić do nich; nie ujmuj [ani] słowa.
This is what the Lord says: Go and stand in the Temple courtyard and deliver the whole message I have ordered you to give to everyone who comes from all the towns of Judah to worship there. Don't leave out a single word.
3 Może usłuchają i odwrócą się, każdy od swojej złej drogi, abym żałował nieszczęścia, które zamierzałem im uczynić z powodu zła ich uczynków.
Maybe they'll they will listen, and each of them will give up their evil ways so that I won't have to carry out the disaster I'm planning to bring down on them because of the evil things they do.
4 I powiesz im: Tak mówi PAN: Jeśli mnie nie usłuchacie, by postępować według mojego prawa, które wam przedłożyłem;
Tell them that this is what the Lord says: If you do not listen to me and follow my law, which I have given you,
5 By słuchać słów moich sług, proroków, których posłałem do was, z wczesnym wstawaniem i przesłaniem, a przecież nie usłuchaliście;
and if you don't listen to the messages of my servants the prophets—I've sent them to you time and again, but you refused to listen—
6 Wtedy postąpię z tym domem tak jak z Szilo, a to miasto uczynię przekleństwem dla wszystkich narodów ziemi.
then I will destroy this Temple like I did Shiloh, and I will make this city a curse word used by everyone on earth.
7 A kapłani i prorocy oraz cały lud słyszeli Jeremiasza mówiącego te słowa w domu PANA.
The priests and prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah deliver this message in the Lord's Temple.
8 A gdy Jeremiasz skończył mówić wszystko, co PAN mu nakazał powiedzieć całemu ludowi, pojmali go ci kapłani i prorocy oraz cały lud, mówiąc: Musisz umrzeć.
As soon as he had finished telling everyone all that the Lord had ordered him to say, the priests and prophets and all the people grabbed him, shouting, “You'll die for this!
9 Czemu prorokowałeś w imię PANA, głosząc: Z tym domem stanie się jak z Szilo, a to miasto tak spustoszeje, że nie będzie w nim mieszkańca? I zgromadził się cały lud przeciwko Jeremiaszowi w domu PANA.
How dare you claim to speak in the Lord's name here in the Temple and declare that it will be destroyed like Shiloh, and that this city will be left empty and abandoned?” Everyone crowded around Jeremiah threatening him in the Lord's Temple.
10 Gdy książęta Judy usłyszeli te rzeczy, przyszli z domu królewskiego do domu PANA i zasiedli u wejścia nowej bramy PANA.
When the leaders of Judah heard what happened they came from the king's palace to the Lord's Temple and sat at the entrance of the New Gate of the Temple to judge the case.
11 Wtedy kapłani i prorocy powiedzieli do książąt i do całego ludu: Ten człowiek zasługuje na śmierć, bo prorokował przeciwko temu miastu, jak to słyszeliście na własne uszy.
The priests and prophets complained to the leaders and all the people, “This man is deserves the death penalty because he has committed treason by prophesying against this city. You heard it yourselves!”
12 Jeremiasz zaś odezwał się do wszystkich książąt i do całego ludu, mówiąc: PAN mnie posłał, abym prorokował przeciw temu domowi i przeciw temu miastu to wszystko, co słyszeliście.
Jeremiah addressed all the leaders and all the people, saying, “The Lord sent me to deliver every word of this prophecy against this Temple as you've heard.
13 Dlatego teraz poprawcie swoje drogi i swoje uczynki i usłuchajcie głosu PANA, swego Boga, a pożałuje PAN tego nieszczęścia, jakie zapowiedział przeciwko wam.
So change your ways and do what's right, and do what Lord your God tells you, so that he won't have to carry out the disaster he has announced he will bring down on you.
14 Co do mnie, ja jestem w waszych rękach, czyńcie ze mną to, co dobre i sprawiedliwe w waszych oczach.
As far as I'm concerned, I'm in your hands; do with me whatever you think is good and right.
15 Wiedzcie jednak na pewno – jeśli mnie zabijecie, ściągniecie krew niewinną na siebie, na to miasto i na jego mieszkańców. Naprawdę bowiem PAN posłał mnie do was, abym mówił te wszystkie słowa do waszych uszu.
But be careful, because you need to be aware that if you kill me, you will make yourselves, this city, and everyone who lives here guilty of murder, because it's true that the Lord sent me to tell you everything he said.”
16 Wtedy książęta i cały lud powiedzieli do kapłanów i do proroków: Ten człowiek nie zasługuje na śmierć, ponieważ przemawiał do nas w imię PANA, naszego Boga.
Then the leaders and all the people told the priests and prophets, “This man doesn't deserve the death penalty because he was speaking on behalf of the Lord our God.”
17 Powstali też niektórzy ze starszych tej ziemi i powiedzieli do całego zgromadzenia ludu:
Some of the country's elders stood up and addressed everyone gathered there.
18 Micheasz z Moreszet prorokował za dni Ezechiasza, króla Judy, i mówił do całego ludu Judy: Tak mówi PAN zastępów: Syjon będzie zaorany jak pole, Jerozolima stanie się rumowiskiem, a góra tego domu – jak zalesione wzgórze.
“Micah of Moresheth prophesied during the reign of Hezekiah king of Judah. He told all the people of Judah that this is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Zion will become like a plowed field; Jerusalem will end up a pile of rubble; and the Temple mount will be overgrown with trees.’
19 Czy zabił go Ezechiasz, król Judy, i Juda? Czy nie ulękli się PANA i nie modlili się do PANA tak, że PAN żałował tego nieszczęścia, jakie zapowiedział przeciwko nim? Przecież ściągniemy na nasze dusze wielkie nieszczęście.
Did Hezekiah king of Judah or anyone else in the country have him killed? Didn't Hezekiah respect the Lord and plead with him? Didn't the Lord change his mind about the disaster he had announced against them? But we are about to bring a great disaster on ourselves!”
20 Był także człowiek, który prorokował w imię PANA, Uriasz, syn Szemajasza, z Kiriat-Jearim. Prorokował on przeciwko temu miastu i przeciwko tej ziemi zgodnie ze wszystkimi słowami Jeremiasza.
At around that time there was another man prophesying in the name of the Lord, Uriah, son of Shemaiah, from Kiriath-jearim. He prophesied against Jerusalem and against the country just as Jeremiah did.
21 A gdy król Joakim, wszyscy jego wojownicy i wszyscy książęta usłyszeli jego słowa, król usiłował go zabić. Lecz gdy Uriasz o tym usłyszał, zląkł się, uciekł i przybył do Egiptu.
King Jehoiakim and all his military officers and officials heard what he was saying, and the king wanted to have him executed. But when Uriah found out about it, he was frightened and ran away to Egypt.
22 Ale król Joakim posłał ludzi do Egiptu: Elnatana, syna Akbora, i innych razem z nim do Egiptu.
But King Jehoiakim sent Elnathan, son of Achbor, along with some others.
23 Ci sprowadzili Uriasza z Egiptu i przyprowadzili go do króla Joakima, a ten zabił go mieczem i wrzucił jego zwłoki do grobów pospólstwa.
They brought Uriah back from Egypt and took him to King Jehoiakim. The king killed him with a sword and had his body thrown into the public graveyard.
24 Natomiast ręka Achikama, syna Szafana, była przy Jeremiaszu, aby nie został wydany w ręce ludu i nie został zabity.
However, Ahikam, son of Shaphan, took Jeremiah's side so he was not handed over to the people to be killed.
