Jeremiasza 14
1 Słowo PANA, które doszło do Jeremiasza w związku z suszą:
So much of the word of Yahweh as came unto Jeremiah, concerning the matter of the drought: —
2 Ziemia Judy płacze, a jej bramy osłabły, w szacie żałobnej siedzą na ziemi, a krzyk Jerozolimy się podnosi.
Judah mourneth, And the gates thereof, pine They lie in gloom on the ground, —And, the outcry of Jerusalem, hath ascended;
3 Ich szlachetni posyłają swoje sługi po wodę. A gdy przyszli do cystern, nie znaleźli wody i powrócili z pustymi naczyniami. Zapłonęli i zawstydzili się, i zakryli swoje głowy.
And, their nobles have sent their menials to the waters, —They have been to the pits, They have found no water They have returned, their vessels empty, They are pale and ashamed and have covered their heads.
4 Z powodu spękanej ziemi – bo nie było deszczu na ziemi – oracze ze wstydu zakryli swoje głowy.
Because the ground, is cracked, For there hath been no rain in the land, The plowmen are pale They have covered their heads.
5 Nawet łania rodząca na polu porzuciła [młode], bo nie było trawy.
For, even the hind of the field hath calved and forsaken, Because there is no young herbage;
6 A dzikie osły, stojąc na wysokich miejscach, chwyciły wiatr jak smoki; ich oczy osłabły, bo nie było trawy.
Yea, wild asses stand still on the bare heights, They pant for air like jackals, —Dimmed are their eyes Because there is no grass.
7 PANIE, chociaż nasze nieprawości świadczą przeciwko nam, działaj przez wzgląd na twoje imię. Liczne są bowiem nasze odstępstwa, zgrzeszyliśmy przeciwko tobie.
Though, our iniquities, have testified against us, O Yahweh, effectually work thou for the sake of thy Name, —For our apostasies have abounded Against thee, have we sinned.
8 Nadziejo Izraela, jego Zbawicielu w czasie utrapienia, czemu jesteś jak przybysz w tej ziemi, jak podróżny, który zatrzymuje się na nocleg?
Thou Hope of Israel, His Saviour in the time of distress, —Wherefore shouldst thou be as a sojourner in the and? Or as a wayfarer, who hath turned aside to lodge for the night?
9 Czemu jesteś jak człowiek osłupiały [albo] jak mocarz, który nie może wybawić? Ty jednak jesteś pośród nas, PANIE, i twoje imię jest wzywane nad nami. Nie opuszczaj nas.
Wherefore, shouldst thou be as a man astounded, As a mighty man who cannot save? Yet, thou, art in our midst—O Yahweh And, thy Name, on us, hath been called Do not abandon us!
10 Tak mówi PAN o tym ludzie: Tak kochają błądzić, swoich nóg nie powstrzymają; dlatego PAN nie ma w nich upodobania, teraz wspomina ich nieprawość i nawiedza ich [za ich] grzechy.
Thus, saith Yahweh To this people In this way, have they loved to wander, Their feet, have they not restrained, —Yahweh, therefore hath not accepted them, Now, will he call to mind their iniquity, —That he may punish their sins.
11 Potem PAN powiedział do mnie: Nie módl się o dobro tego ludu.
And Yahweh said unto me, —Do not pray for this people for blessing;
12 Gdy będą pościć, nie wysłucham ich wołania, a gdy będą składać całopalenia i ofiarę z pokarmów, nie przyjmę tego, ale wytracę ich mieczem, głodem i zarazą.
Though they fast, I am not going to hearken unto their loud cry, and Though they offer ascending-sacrifice and meal-offering, I am not going to accept them, —For with sword and with famine and with pestilence, am, I, about to consume them.
13 Wtedy powiedziałem: Ach, Panie BOŻE! Oto prorocy mówią im: Nie zobaczycie miecza ani nie dotknie was głód, ale dam wam trwały pokój na tym miejscu.
Then said I, Ah, My Lord Yahweh! Lo! the prophets, are saying to them—Ye shall not see the sword And famine, shall ye not have, —For prosperity in truth, will I give you, in this place.
14 I PAN powiedział do mnie: Ci prorocy fałszywie prorokują w moje imię. Nie posłałem ich ani im [niczego] nie nakazywałem, ani nie mówiłem do nich. Prorokują wam kłamliwe widzenie i wróżbę, marność i urojenie swego serca.
So then Yahweh said unto me, Falsehood, are the prophets prophesying in my name, I have not sent them Neither have I commanded them, Neither have I spoken unto them, —A vision of falsehood, and A divination of worthlessness and A fraud of their own hearts, They, are prophesying unto you.
15 Dlatego tak mówi PAN o prorokach, którzy prorokują w moje imię, chociaż ich nie posłałem, i którzy mówią: Miecza i głodu nie będzie w tej ziemi. Ci sami prorocy od miecza i głodu zginą.
Therefore, Thus, saith Yahweh concerning the prophets who are prophesying in my Name though, I, sent them not, and yet, they have been, saying, Neither sword nor famine, shall there be in this land, —By sword or by famine, shall, those prophets, be consumed;
16 A ten lud, któremu oni prorokują, będzie wyrzucony na ulice Jerozolimy z powodu głodu i miecza i nie będzie nikogo, kto by pogrzebał ich samych ani ich żon, ani ich synów i córek. Tak wyleję na nich ich niegodziwość.
And the people to whom they have been prophesying shall be getting cast out into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword, and of there being none to give burial unto them, them, their wives, nor their sons nor their daughters, —So will I pour out upon them their own wickedness.
17 Dlatego powiesz im to słowo: Moje oczy wylewają łzy w nocy i we dnie, bez przerwy, bo dziewicza córka mego ludu została dotknięta wielką klęską, ciosem bardzo bolesnym.
Therefore shalt thou say unto them this word, Let mine eyes, run down with tears night and day, And let them not rest, —For with a grievous injury, hath been injured the virgin the daughter of my people, With a wound, severe indeed!
18 Jeśli wychodzę na pole – oto pobici mieczem, jeśli wchodzę do miasta – oto ginący od głodu. Tak, zarówno prorok, jak i kapłan kupczą ziemią, a [ludzie] tego nie zauważają.
If I have gone out into the field, Then lo! the slain of the sword! And, if I have entered the city, Then lo! the diseases of famine! For, both prophet and priest, have trafficked against the land unnoticed.
19 Czy całkowicie odrzucasz Judę? Czy twoja dusza obrzydziła sobie Syjon? Czemu nas bijesz, tak że już nie ma dla nas uzdrowienia? Oczekiwaliśmy pokoju, ale nie [ma] nic dobrego; [oczekiwaliśmy] czasu uleczenia, a oto trwoga.
Hast thou, utterly rejected, Judah? Zion itself, hath thy soul loathed? Why, hast thou smitten us so that there is for us no healing? A waiting For prosperity, but no welfare, and For a time of healing, but lo! terror!
20 Uznajemy, PANIE, swoją niegodziwość i nieprawość naszych ojców, bo zgrzeszyliśmy przeciw tobie.
We acknowledge O Yahweh Our own lawlessness The iniquity of our fathers, —For we have sinned against thee.
21 Nie odrzucaj [nas] przez wzgląd na twoje imię, nie dopuść do znieważenia tronu swojej chwały. Pamiętaj o swoim przymierzu i nie zrywaj go z nami.
Do not despise—for the sake of thy Name, Do not treat with contempt—the throne of thy glory, —Remember!—do not break thy covenant with us.
22 Czy wśród marności pogan są takie, co spuszczają deszcz? Czy niebiosa mogą [same] dawać deszcze? Czy to nie ty, PANIE, nasz Boże? Dlatego oczekujemy ciebie, bo ty czynisz to wszystko.
Are there, among the vanities of the nations senders of rain? Or can, the heavens themselves, give myriad drops? Art not, thou, he, O Yahweh our God? Therefore will we wait for thee, For, thou, hast made all these.
