Izajasza 13
1 Brzemię Babilonu, które widział Izajasz, syn Amosa.
A prophecy concerning Babylon, which Isaiah, the son of Amoz, saw.
2 Na wysokiej górze wznieście sztandar, podnieście na nich głos, machajcie ręką, aby weszli w bramy książąt.
Upon the bare mountain lift up a banner; Cry aloud to them, wave the hand, That they may enter the gates of the tyrants!
3 Ja nakazałem swoim poświęconym, wezwałem też swoich mocarzy [do okazywania] mojego gniewu, tych, którzy radują się z mojego majestatu.
I have given orders to my consecrated ones, Yea, I have called upon my mighty ones to execute mine anger, My proud exulters!
4 Odgłosy zgrai na górach jakby licznego ludu, odgłosy zgiełku królestw, zgromadzonych narodów. PAN zastępów gromadzi wojsko na wojnę.
The noise of a multitude upon the mountains, like that of a great people! The tumultuous noise of kingdoms, of nations gathered together! Jehovah of hosts mustereth his army for battle.
5 Przybywają z dalekiej ziemi, z krańców nieba, PAN i narzędzia jego zapalczywości, aby spustoszyć całą ziemię.
They come from a distant country, From the end of Heaven, Jehovah and the instruments of his indignation. To lay waste the whole land.
6 Zawódźcie, bo bliski jest dzień PANA; przyjdzie jak spustoszenie od Wszechmocnego.
Howl ye, for the day of Jehovah is at hand! Like a destruction from the Almighty, it cometh;
7 Dlatego wszelkie ręce opadną, a każde serce człowieka struchleje.
Therefore shall all hands hang down, And every heart of man shall melt.
8 I będą przerażeni: ogarną ich skurcze i boleści, będą wić się z bólu jak rodząca kobieta. Jeden na drugiego spojrzy z osłupieniem, ich twarze będą podobne do płomieni.
They shall be in consternation; Distress and anguish shall lay hold of them; As a woman in travail shall they writhe; They shall look upon one another with amazement: Their faces shall glow like flames.
9 Oto dzień PANA nadchodzi, okrutny, w zapalczywości i srogim gniewie, aby zamienić tę ziemię w pustynię i wytępić z niej grzeszników.
Behold! the day of Jehovah cometh, Terrible, full of wrath and burning indignation, To make the land a waste, And to destroy the sinners out of it.
10 Gwiazdy nieba bowiem i ich konstelacje nie będą jaśniały swoim światłem. Słońce się zaćmi, gdy tylko wzejdzie, a księżyc nie zabłyśnie swoim światłem.
For the stars of heaven, and the constellations thereof, Shall not give their light; The sun shall be darkened at his going forth, And the moon shall withhold her light.
11 I ukarzę świat za jego zło i niegodziwych za ich nieprawość; położę kres pysze zuchwałych i poniżę wyniosłość okrutników.
For I will punish the world for its guilt, And the wicked for their iniquity. I will put an end to the arrogance of the proud, And I will bring down the haughtiness of the tyrants.
12 Uczynię człowieka droższym niż czyste złoto, a nawet droższym niż złoto z Ofiru.
I will make men scarcer than gold; Yea, men than the gold of Ophir.
13 Dlatego zatrząsnę niebem, a ziemia ruszy się ze swego miejsca pod zapalczywością PANA zastępów i w dniu jego srogiego gniewu.
Therefore I will make the heavens tremble, And the earth shall be shaken out of her place, In the anger of Jehovah of hosts, In the day of his burning indignation.
14 I będzie jak spłoszona sarna i jak trzoda, której nikt nie gromadzi: każdy powróci do swego ludu i każdy ucieknie do swojej ziemi.
Then shall they be like a chased doe; Like a flock, which no one gathereth together; Every one shall turn to his own people, And every one flee to his own land.
15 Każdy, kogo znajdą, zostanie przebity; a każdy, kto się do nich przyłączy, polegnie od miecza.
Every one that is overtaken shall be thrust through, And every one that is caught shall fall by the sword.
16 Ich dzieci będą roztrzaskane na ich oczach, ich domy będą splądrowane, a ich żony – zgwałcone.
Their children shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; Their houses shall be plundered, and their wives ravished.
17 Oto pobudzę przeciwko nim Medów, którzy o srebro nie będą dbać, a w złocie nie będą się lubować.
Behold, I stir up against them the Medes, Who make no account of silver, And as to gold, they do not regard it.
18 Ich łuki roztrzaskają młodzieńców, nie zlitują się nad płodem łona, ich oko nie przepuści dzieciom.
Their bows shall strike down the young men, And on the fruit of the womb they shall have no compassion; Their eye shall not pity the children.
19 I Babilon, ozdoba królestw i chluba majestatu Chaldejczyków, stanie się jak Sodoma i Gomora, kiedy Bóg je zniszczył.
So shall Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, The proud ornament of the Chaldeans, Be like Sodom and Gomorrah, which God overthrew,
20 Nie będzie nigdy więcej zamieszkany ani zasiedlony z pokolenia na pokolenie; Arab nie rozbije tam namiotu ani pasterze nie odpoczną tam [z trzodami].
It shall never more be inhabited; Nor shall it be dwelt in through all generations. Nor shall the Arabian pitch his tent there, Nor shall shepherds make their folds there.
21 Ale dziki zwierz pustyni będzie tam odpoczywać, a ich domy będą pełne wyjących bestii; zamieszkają tam sowy, a kozice będą tam podskakiwać.
But there shall the wild beasts of the desert lodge, And owls shall fill their houses; And ostriches shall dwell there, And satyrs shall dance there.
22 Straszne bestie wysp będą wyć w ich opuszczonych domach, a smoki w ich wspaniałych pałacach. Jego czas jest bliski, jego dni nie będą przedłużone.
Wolves shall howl in their palaces, And jackals in their pleasant edifices. Her time is near, And her days shall not be prolonged.
