1 Potem król Aswerus nałożył podatek na [swoją] ziemię i na wyspy morskie.

And the king levied [a tax] upon [his] kingdom both by land and sea.

2 A wszystkie dzieła jego potęgi i mocy oraz opis wielkości Mardocheusza, którą wyróżnił go król, czy nie są zapisane w księgach kronik królów Medii i Persji?

And [as for] his strength and valour, and the wealth and glory of his kingdom, behold, they are written in the book of the Persians and Medes, for a memorial.

3 Żyd Mardocheusz [był] bowiem drugi po królu Aswerusie, wielki w oczach Żydów i cieszący się uznaniem wśród wielu swoich braci, troszczył się o dobro swego ludu i głosił pokój całemu swemu ludowi.

And Mardochaeus was viceroy to king Artaxerxes, and was a great man in the kingdom, and honoured by the Jews, and passed his life beloved of all his nation.
