1 I Mojżesz zwołał całego Izraela, i powiedział do nich: Słuchaj, Izraelu, nakazów i praw, które dziś mówię do twoich uszu; nauczcie się ich i przestrzegajcie, i wypełniajcie je.
Then called Moses unto all Israel and said unto them—Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the regulations, which I am speaking in your ears to-day, —so shall ye learn them, and observe to do them.
2 PAN, nasz Bóg, zawarł z nami przymierze na Horebie.
Yahweh our God, solemnised with us a covenant in Horeb:
3 PAN zawarł to przymierze nie z naszymi ojcami, ale z nami, którzy tu wszyscy dziś jesteśmy przy życiu.
not with our fathers did Yahweh solemnise this covenant, —but with us, ourselves—these here to-day, all of us living.
4 Twarzą w twarz rozmawiał z wami PAN na górze spośród ognia;
Face to face, spake Yahweh with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire,
5 Ja stałem w tym czasie pomiędzy PANEM a wami, aby oznajmić wam słowo PANA, gdyż baliście się ognia i nie wstąpiliście na górę. A on powiedział:
(I was standing between Yahweh and you, at that time, to declare unto you the word of Yahweh, —for ye shrank with fear from the presence of the fire, and went not up in the mount) saying: —
6 Ja jestem PAN, twój Bóg, który cię wyprowadził z ziemi Egiptu, z domu niewoli.
I, am Yahweh thy God, who have brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt out of the house of servants: —
7 Nie będziesz miał innych bogów przede mną.
Thou shalt not have other gods, besides me:
8 Nie czyń sobie rzeźbionego posągu ani żadnej podobizny [czegokolwiek], co jest w górze na niebie, co jest nisko na ziemi ani tego, co jest w wodach pod ziemią;
Thou shalt not make unto thee an image, any form that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
9 Nie będziesz oddawał im pokłonu ani nie będziesz im służył, gdyż ja jestem PAN, twój Bóg, Bóg zazdrosny, nawiedzający nieprawość ojców na synach do trzeciego i czwartego [pokolenia] tych, którzy mnie nienawidzą;
thou shalt not bow thyself down to them nor be led to serve them, —for, I Yahweh thy God, am a jealous GOD, visiting the iniquity of fathers upon sons even unto three generations and unto four, unto them that hate me;
10 A okazujący miłosierdzie tysiącom tych, którzy mnie miłują i strzegą moich przykazań.
but shewing lovingkindness unto a thousand generation—unto them who love me, and keep my commandments:
11 Nie będziesz brał imienia PANA, twego Boga, nadaremnie, gdyż PAN nie zostawi bez kary tego, który bierze jego imię nadaremnie.
Thou shalt not utter the name of Yahweh thy God, for falsehood, —for Yahweh will not let him go unpunished who uttereth his name for falsehood:
12 Przestrzegaj dnia szabatu, abyś go święcił, tak jak ci nakazał PAN, twój Bóg.
Observe the sabbath day, to hallow it, —as Yahweh thy God, hath commanded thee:
13 Przez sześć dni będziesz pracował i wykonywał wszelką swoją pracę;
six days, shalt thou labour, and do all thy work;
14 Lecz siódmy dzień jest szabatem PANA, twego Boga. Nie będziesz wykonywał żadnej pracy w [tym dniu] ani ty, ani twój syn, ani twoja córka, ani twój sługa, ani twoja służąca, ani twój wół, ani twój osioł, ani żadne twoje bydło, ani twój gość, który jest w twych bramach; aby odpoczął twój sługa i twoja służąca – jak i ty.
but, the seventh day, is a sabbath unto Yahweh thy God, —thou shalt do no work—thou nor thy son nor thy daughter nor thy servant nor thy handmaid nor thine ox nor thine ass nor any of thy cattle, nor thy sojourner who is within thy gates, that thy servant and thy handmaid may rest, as well as thou.
15 I pamiętaj, że byłeś niewolnikiem w ziemi Egiptu i że PAN, twój Bóg, wyprowadził cię stamtąd potężną ręką i wyciągniętym ramieniem. Dlatego PAN, twój Bóg, nakazał ci obchodzić dzień szabatu.
So shalt thou remember that a servant, wast thou in the land of Egypt, and that Yahweh thy God brought thee forth from thence, with a firm hand, and with a stretched-out arm, —for this cause, hath Yahweh thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day:
16 Czcij swego ojca i swoją matkę, tak jak nakazał ci PAN, twój Bóg, aby przedłużone były twoje dni i żeby ci się dobrze powodziło na ziemi, którą PAN, twój Bóg, da tobie.
Honour thy father and thy mother, as Yahweh thy God hath commanded thee, —that thy days may be prolonged and that it may go well with thee, upon the soil which Yahweh thy God is about to give unto thee:
17 Nie będziesz zabijał.
Thou shalt not commit murder:
18 Nie będziesz cudzołożył.
Neither shalt thou commit adultery:
19 Nie będziesz kradł.
Neither shalt thou steal:
20 Nie będziesz mówił fałszywego świadectwa przeciw twemu bliźniemu.
Neither shalt thou testify against thy neighbour with a witness of falsehood:
21 Nie będziesz pragnął żony swego bliźniego ani nie będziesz pożądał domu swego bliźniego, ani jego pola, ani jego sługi czy służącej, ani jego wołu czy osła, ani żadnej rzeczy, która należy do twego bliźniego.
Neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour’s wife, —neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour’s house, his field, or his servant, or his handmaid, his ox or his ass, or anything that is thy neighbour’s.
22 Te słowa wypowiedział PAN do całego waszego zgromadzenia na górze spośród ognia, obłoku i ciemności donośnym głosem. I nic nie dodał. Potem napisał je na dwóch tablicach kamiennych i dał mi je.
These words, spake Yahweh unto all the convocation of you in the mount out of the midst of the fire the cloud and the thick gloom, a loud voice, and added not, —and he wrote them upon two tables of stone, and gave them unto me.
23 A gdy usłyszeliście głos spośród ciemności, a góra płonęła ogniem, zbliżyliście się do mnie, wszyscy naczelnicy waszych pokoleń oraz starsi;
And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, the mountain also burning with fire, then drew ye near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes and your elders,
24 I powiedzieliście: Oto PAN, nasz Bóg, ukazał nam swoją chwałę i wielkość i słyszeliśmy jego głos spośród ognia. Dziś widzieliśmy, że Bóg przemawia do człowieka, a [ten] pozostaje przy życiu.
and ye said—Lo! Yahweh our God hath let us see his glory and his greatness, his voice also, have we heard out of the midst of the fire, —this day, have we seen, that God may speak with man who yet may live.
25 Dlaczego więc teraz mamy umrzeć? Bo ten wielki ogień nas pochłonie. Jeśli nadal będziemy słyszeć głos PANA, naszego Boga, pomrzemy.
Now, therefore why should we die? for this great fire, will consume, us, —if we ourselves, hear the voice of Yahweh our God any more, we shall die.
26 Któż bowiem spośród wszelkiego ciała słyszał głos Boga żywego mówiącego spośród ognia, tak jak my, a pozostał przy życiu?
For who [is there] of all flesh, that ever heard the voice of a Living God speaking out of the midst of fire as we, and yet lived?
27 Zbliż się ty i wysłuchaj wszystkiego, co będzie mówił PAN, nasz Bóg. Ty zaś powiesz nam wszystko, co powie do ciebie PAN, nasz Bóg, a my posłuchamy i wykonamy to.
Go, thou, near, and hear, all that Yahweh our God shall say, —so shalt thou speak unto us, all that Yahweh our God shall speak unto thee and we will hear and do.
28 I PAN wysłuchał głosu waszych słów, kiedy mówiliście do mnie, i powiedział PAN do mnie: Słyszałem głos słów tego ludu, które wypowiedzieli do ciebie. Wszystko, co powiedzieli, jest słuszne.
And Yahweh heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me, —and Yahweh said unto me—I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken unto thee, they have well said all which they have spoken.
29 Oby ich serce było takie, by się mnie bali i przestrzegali wszystkich moich przykazań przez wszystkie dni, aby dobrze się powodziło im i ich synom na wieki.
Oh that this their heart might remain in them to revere me, and to keep all my commandments all the days, —that it might be well with them and with their sons unto times age-abiding.
30 Idź i powiedz im: Wróćcie do swoich namiotów.
Go, say unto them, —Return ye to your tents.
31 A ty zostań tu przy mnie, a powiem ci wszystkie przykazania, nakazy i prawa, których będziesz ich nauczał, aby je wypełniali w ziemi, którą daję im w posiadanie.
Thou, therefore here stand with me and let me speak unto thee—all the commandment and the statutes and the regulations which thou shalt teach them, —that they may do [them] in the land which I am giving unto them to possess it.
32 Dopilnujcie wypełniania tego tak, jak wam nakazał PAN, wasz Bóg. Nie zbaczajcie ani w prawo, ani w lewo.
So then ye must observe to do, as Yahweh your God hath commanded you, —ye must not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
33 Będziecie chodzić wszelką drogą, którą wam nakazał PAN, wasz Bóg, abyście żyli, aby dobrze się wam powodziło i żebyście przedłużyli [swoje] dni na ziemi, którą posiądziecie.
In all the way which Yahweh your God hath commanded you, must ye walk, —that ye may live and it be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land, which ye shall possess.
