Dzieje 12
1 W tym czasie król Herod zaczął gnębić niektórych [członków] kościoła.
At that time Herod the king undertook to afflict some of the church.
2 I zabił mieczem Jakuba, brata Jana.
And he slew with the sword James the brother of John.
3 Widząc, że to podobało się Żydom, postanowił schwytać także Piotra. A były to dni Przaśników.
And when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he apprehended Peter also. Those were the days of unleavened bread.
4 Kiedy go schwytał, wtrącił go do więzienia i oddał pod straż szesnastu żołnierzom, zamierzając po [święcie] Paschy wydać go ludowi.
And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four tetrads of soldiers to guard him, intending to bring him out to the people after the passover.
5 Strzeżono więc Piotra w więzieniu, a kościół nieustannie modlił się za niego do Boga.
Therefore, Peter was kept in prison; but fervent prayer to God was made for him by the church.
6 A tej nocy, kiedy Herod miał go wydać, Piotr spał między dwoma żołnierzami, związany dwoma łańcuchami, a przed drzwiami strażnicy strzegli więzienia.
When Herod was about to bring him out, on that night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains; and the keepers before the doors were guarding the prison.
7 Wtedy zjawił się anioł Pana i w więzieniu zajaśniało światło. Trącił Piotra w bok i obudził go, mówiąc: Wstań szybko. I opadły łańcuchy z [jego] rąk.
And behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison. And he gently struck Peter on the side, and awoke him, saying: Arise quickly; and his chains fell from his hands.
8 I powiedział do niego anioł: Przepasz się i włóż sandały. Tak też zrobił. I powiedział mu: Narzuć płaszcz i chodź za mną.
And the angel said to him: Gird yourself, and bind on your sandals; and he did so. And he said to him: Throw your mantle around you, and follow me.
9 [Piotr] więc wyszedł i udał się za nim, a nie wiedział, że to, co się działo za sprawą anioła, działo się naprawdę, lecz sądził, że to widzenie.
And he went out, and followed him; and he knew not that what was done by the angel was real, but thought that he saw a vision.
10 A gdy minęli pierwszą i drugą straż, doszli do żelaznej bramy, która prowadzi do miasta, a ta sama się przed nimi otworzyła. Kiedy wyszli i przeszli jedną ulicę, natychmiast anioł odstąpił od niego.
And when they had passed through the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate that leads to the city, which opened to them of its own accord. And they went out, and passed on through one street; and the angel immediately departed from him.
11 Kiedy Piotr doszedł do siebie, powiedział: Teraz wiem na pewno, że Pan posłał swego anioła i wyrwał mnie z ręki Heroda i z tego wszystkiego, czego oczekiwał lud żydowski.
And when Peter came to himself, he said: Now I know, in truth, that the Lord has sent his angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod, and from all that was expected by the Jewish people.
12 Gdy to sobie uświadomił, przyszedł do domu Marii, matki Jana, którego nazywano Markiem, gdzie wielu zebrało się na modlitwie.
And being aware of his condition, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, who is surnamed Mark, where many had met together, and were praying.
13 I zapukał Piotr do drzwi w bramie, i wyszła dziewczyna imieniem Rode, aby nasłuchiwać:
And when he knocked at the door of the entrance, a maid-servant, named Rhoda, came to listen.
14 Gdy poznała głos Piotra, z radości nie otworzyła bramy, lecz pobiegła i oznajmiła, że Piotr stoi przed bramą.
And recognizing Peter’s voice, she did not open the entrance for joy, but ran in and told that Peter was standing before the entrance.
15 A oni powiedzieli do niej: Oszalałaś! Jednak ona twierdziła, że tak jest istotnie. Odpowiedzieli: To jego anioł.
And they said to her: You are mad. But she confidently affirmed that it was even so. Then said hey: It is his angel.
16 Piotr zaś nie przestał pukać. A gdy otworzyli, zobaczyli go i zdumieli się.
But Peter continued to knock; and when they had opened the door, they saw him, and were astonished.
17 A dawszy im ręką znak, aby zamilkli, opowiedział im, jak Pan wyprowadził go z więzienia, i powiedział: Powiadomcie o tym Jakuba i braci. Potem wyszedł i udał się w inne miejsce.
But, having made a sign to them with his hand, that they should keep silence, he made known to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison, and he said: Tell this to James, and to the brethren. And he went out, and departed to another place.
18 A gdy nastał dzień, powstało niemałe poruszenie wśród żołnierzy [z powodu tego], co się stało z Piotrem.
And when it was day, there was no little confusion among the soldiers as to what had become of Peter.
19 Herod zaś poszukiwał go, a gdy go nie znalazł, przesłuchał strażników i kazał ich stracić. Potem wyjechał z Judei do Cezarei i tam mieszkał.
But Herod, when he had sought for him, and found him not, examined the keepers, and commanded them to be put to death. And he went down from Judea to Cesarean, and there he remained.
20 A Herod był bardzo zagniewany na mieszkańców Tyru i Sydonu. Lecz oni jednomyślnie przyszli do niego, zjednali sobie Blasta, podkomorzego królewskiego, i prosili o pokój, ponieważ ich kraj zaopatrywał się w żywność [z ziem] królewskich.
And he was intending to make war upon the Tyrians and Sidonians; but they came with one consent to him; and having made Blastus, who had charge of the king’s bed-chamber, their friend, they asked for peace, because their country was supported by that of the king.
21 W wyznaczonym dniu Herod ubrany w szaty królewskie zasiadł na tronie i wygłosił do nich mowę.
And on an appointed day, Herod, having arrayed himself in royal apparel, and seated himself on his throne, delivered an oration to them.
22 A lud wołał: Głos Boga, a nie człowieka!
And the people shouted: It is the voice of God, and not of man.
23 W tej chwili uderzył go anioł Pana, dlatego że nie oddał chwały Bogu, i wyzionął ducha, stoczony przez robactwo.
And immediately an angel of the Lord smote him, because he did not give God the glory. And having been eaten by worms, he expired.
24 A słowo Pana rozrastało się i rozmnażało.
But the word of the Lord increased and multiplied.
25 Barnaba zaś i Saul po wykonaniu posługi wrócili z Jerozolimy, zabierając ze sobą Jana, którego nazywano Markiem.
And Barnabas and Saul, after they had fulfilled their ministry, returned from Jerusalem, taking with them John, whose surname was Mark.
