II Samuela 9
1 Wtedy Dawid zapytał: Czy pozostał jeszcze ktoś z domu Saula, abym mógł okazać mu miłosierdzie ze względu na Jonatana?
Then David asked, “Is there anyone left from the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for the sake of Jonathan?”
2 A z domu Saula [był] sługa imieniem Siba. Został on wezwany do Dawida i król zapytał go: Czy ty jesteś Siba? Odpowiedział: [To ja], twój sługa.
And there was a servant of Saul’s family named Ziba. They summoned him to David, and the king inquired, “Are you Ziba?” “I am your servant,” he replied.
3 Król pytał dalej: Czy nie ma jeszcze kogoś z domu Saula, abym mógł okazać mu miłosierdzie Boże? Siba odpowiedział królowi: [Jest] jeszcze syn Jonatana, chromy na nogi.
So the king asked, “Is there anyone left of Saul’s family to whom I can show the kindness of God?” Ziba answered, “There is still Jonathan’s son, who is lame in both feet.”
4 Król zapytał go: Gdzie on jest? Siba odpowiedział królowi: Oto jest w domu Makira, syna Ammiela, w Lo-Debar.
“Where is he?” replied the king. And Ziba said, “Indeed, he is in Lo-debar at the house of Machir son of Ammiel.”
5 Król Dawid posłał więc, by go sprowadzić z domu Makira, syna Ammiela, z Lo-Debar.
So King David had him brought from the house of Machir son of Ammiel in Lo-debar.
6 A gdy Mefiboszet, syn Jonatana, syna Saula, przybył do Dawida, upadł na twarz i pokłonił [mu] się. I Dawid powiedział: Mefiboszecie! Ten odpowiedział: Oto twój sługa.
And when Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he fell facedown in reverence. Then David said, “Mephibosheth!” “I am your servant,” he replied.
7 Dawid powiedział do niego: Nie bój się, bo z całą pewnością okażę ci miłosierdzie ze względu na twego ojca Jonatana i przywrócę ci wszystkie ziemie twego ojca Saula, a ty zawsze będziesz jadał chleb przy moim stole.
“Do not be afraid,” said David, “for surely I will show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land of your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.”
8 Wtedy ukłonił się i powiedział: Czym [jest] twój sługa, że zwracasz się do zdechłego psa, jakim jestem?
Mephibosheth bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should show regard for a dead dog like me?”
9 Następnie król wezwał Sibę, sługę Saula, i powiedział mu: Wszystko, co należało do Saula i do całego jego domu, dałem synowi twego pana.
Then the king summoned Saul’s servant Ziba and said to him, “I have given to your master’s grandson all that belonged to Saul and to all his house.
10 Będziesz więc uprawiał jego ziemię, ty, twoi synowie i twoi słudzy. Będziesz zbierał [plony], aby syn twego pana mógł jeść chleb. Mefiboszet natomiast, syn twego pana, będzie zawsze jadał chleb przy moim stole. A Siba miał piętnastu synów i dwudziestu sług.
You and your sons and servants are to work the ground for him and bring in the harvest, so that your master’s grandson may have food to eat. But Mephibosheth, your master’s grandson, is always to eat at my table.” Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.
11 Siba odpowiedział królowi: Wszystko, co mój pan, król, rozkazał swemu słudze, to twój sługa uczyni. A Mefiboszet – dodał król – będzie jadał przy moim stole jak jeden z synów króla.
And Ziba said to the king, “Your servant will do all that my lord the king has commanded.” So Mephibosheth ate at David’s table like one of the king’s own sons.
12 Mefiboszet miał też małego syna imieniem Mika. A wszyscy, którzy mieszkali w domu Siby, [byli] sługami Mefiboszeta.
And Mephibosheth had a young son named Mica, and all who dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants of Mephibosheth.
13 Tak Mefiboszet mieszkał w Jerozolimie, gdyż zawsze jadał przy stole króla. A był chromy na obie nogi.
So Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king’s table, and he was lame in both feet.
