II Samuela 23
1 Oto ostatnie słowa Dawida. Dawid, syn Jessego, mężczyzna, który został wywyższony, pomazaniec Boga Jakuba i miły psalmista Izraela, powiedział:
Now these are the last words of David. David the son of Jesse says, the man whom God raised up, the anointed of the God of Jacob, the sweet psalmist of Israel:
2 Duch PANA mówił przeze mnie, a jego słowo [jest] na moim języku.
"The Spirit of Jehovah spoke by me. His word was on my tongue.
3 Bóg Izraela przemówił, Skała Izraela mówiła do mnie: Ten, który panuje nad ludem, ma być sprawiedliwy, ma panować w bojaźni Bożej.
The God of Jacob said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, 'One who rules over men righteously, who rules in the fear of God,
4 [Będzie] jak światło poranka, gdy słońce wschodzi, jak poranek bez chmur [i jak] od jego blasku po deszczu wyrasta ruń z ziemi.
shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun rises, a morning without clouds, when the tender grass springs out of the earth, through clear shining after rain.'
5 I choć mój dom nie [jest] taki przed Bogiem, to jednak zawarł ze mną wieczne przymierze, utwierdzone we wszystkim i pewne. A [to] jest całe moje zbawienie i całe [moje] pragnienie, chociaż [on] jeszcze nie daje temu wzrostu.
Most certainly my house is not so with God, yet he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure, for it is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he doesn't make it grow.
6 Lecz wszyscy [synowie] Beliala będą jak ciernie wyrzucone, których się ręką nie bierze.
But all of the ungodly shall be as thorns to be thrust away, because they can't be taken with the hand,
7 Ten zaś, kto chce ich dotknąć, musi uzbroić się w żelazo i drzewce włóczni. Zostaną doszczętnie spaleni ogniem na miejscu.
But the man who touches them must be armed with iron and the staff of a spear. They shall be utterly burned with fire in their place."
8 Oto są imiona dzielnych wojowników, których miał Dawid: Tachmonita, który zajął główne miejsce wśród trzech [dowódców], to właśnie Adino Esnita. To on wywijał [swoją włócznią] przeciw ośmiuset i pokonał ich za jednym razem.
These are the names of the warriors whom David had: Jeshbaal the son of Hachmoni, leader of the Three. He wielded his spear against eight hundred whom he killed at one time.
9 Po nim był Eleazar, syn Dody, Achochita, jeden z trzech dzielnych wojowników, którzy byli z Dawidem, kiedy urągali Filistynom, którzy zebrali się do bitwy, a Izraelici wycofali się;
After him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, one of the Three warriors. He was with David in Pas Dammim when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there for battle, and the men of Israel had retreated.
10 To on powstał i bił się z Filistynami, aż mu ręka omdlała i przywarła do miecza. Tego dnia PAN sprawił wielkie zwycięstwo. Lud zaś zawrócił tylko po to, żeby zabrać łupy.
He arose, and struck the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand froze to the sword; and Jehovah worked a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to take spoil.
11 A po nim [był] Szamma, syn Agego, Hararyta. Gdy bowiem Filistyni zebrali się w oddział, gdzie była działka pola pełnego soczewicy, a lud uciekł przed Filistynami;
After him was Shamma the son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines were gathered together at Lehi, where there was a plot of ground full of lentils; and the people fled from the Philistines.
12 Wtedy on stanął w środku tej działki, obronił ją i pobił Filistynów. A PAN sprawił wielkie zwycięstwo.
But he stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and killed the Philistines; and Jehovah worked a great victory.
13 Ci trzej spośród trzydziestu dowódców zeszli się i przyszli do Dawida w czasie żniw do jaskini Adullam, podczas gdy oddział Filistynów rozbił obóz w dolinie Refaim.
And three of the Thirty chief men went down, and came to David in the harvest time to the cave of Adullam; and the troop of the Philistines was camped in the Valley of Rephaim.
14 A Dawid w tym czasie [przebywał] w miejscu obronnym, a załoga filistyńska [była] wtedy w Betlejem.
David was then in the stronghold; and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.
15 Wówczas Dawid poczuł pragnienie i powiedział: Oby ktoś dał mi się napić wody ze studni betlejemskiej, która jest przy bramie!
And David had a craving and said, "Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate."
16 Wtedy ci trzej waleczni wojownicy przebili się przez obóz Filistynów i zaczerpnęli wody ze studni betlejemskiej, która była przy bramie. Zabrali ją i przynieśli do Dawida. On jednak nie chciał jej pić, lecz wylał ją dla PANA;
The Three warriors broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but he would not drink of it, but poured it out to Jehovah.
17 I powiedział: Niech PAN mnie strzeże [od tego], abym miał to uczynić. Czyż to nie krew mężczyzn, którzy poszli z narażeniem życia? I nie chciał jej pić. Tego dokonali ci trzej waleczni wojownicy.
He said, "Far be it from me, Jehovah, that I should do this. Shall I drink the blood of the men who went in jeopardy of their lives?" Therefore he would not drink it. The Three warriors did these things.
18 Abiszaj, brat Joaba, syn Serui, był na czele trzech. On to podniósł swoją włócznię przeciw trzystu i pobił ich, i był sławny wśród tych trzech.
And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was leader of the Thirty. And he wielded his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name beside the Three.
19 Z tych trzech był najsławniejszy i stał się ich dowódcą. Nie dorównał jednak [tamtym] trzem.
He was the most illustrious of the Thirty, and he became their leader. However he did not attain to the Three.
20 Benajasz, syn Jehojady, syn dzielnego męża z Kabseel, który dokonał wielu czynów, to on zabił dwóch wojowników z Moabu. On też w śnieżnym dniu zszedł do jamy i zabił lwa.
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was a valiant man of Kabzeel, who performed great deeds. He killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow.
21 Zabił również Egipcjanina, człowieka [godnego] podziwu. Egipcjanin ten [miał] w ręku włócznię. On zaś poszedł do niego z kijem, wyrwał włócznię z ręki Egipcjanina i zabił go jego własną włócznią.
He killed an Egyptian, a man of great stature. And the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and grabbed the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and killed him with his own spear.
22 Tego dokonał Benajasz, syn Jehojady, [był] najsławniejszy wśród tych trzech dzielnych wojowników.
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things, and had a name among the Three warriors.
23 Był sławniejszy niż trzydziestu, nie dorównał jednak owym trzem. I Dawid postawił go nad swoją strażą przyboczną.
He was more honored than the Thirty, but he did not attain to the Three. David set him over his guard.
24 Asahel, brat Joaba, [był] wśród trzydziestu. [A są nimi]: Elchanan, syn Dodo z Betlejem;
Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the Thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo from Bethlehem,
25 Szamma Charodczyk, Elika Charodczyk;
Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,
26 Cheles Peletyta, Ira, syn Ikkesza, Tekoitczyk;
Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,
27 Abiezer Anatotczyk, Mebunaj Chuszatyta;
Abiezer the Anathothite, Sibbekai the Hushathite,
28 Salmon Achochita, Maharaj Netofatyta;
Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,
29 Cheleb, syn Baany, Netofatyta, Itaj, syn Ribaja, z Gibea synów Beniamina;
Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the people of Benjamin,
30 Benajasz Piratończyk, Hiddaj z potoków Gaasz;
Benaiah a Pirathonite, Hiddai of Nahale Gaash.
31 Abi-Albon Arbatczyk, Azmawet Barchumitczyk;
Abiel son of the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Bahurimite,
32 Eliachba Szaalbończyk, Jonatan, z synów Jaszena;
Eliahba the Shaalbinite, Jashen the Gizonite,
33 Szamma Hararyta, Achiam, syn Szarara, Hararyta;
Jonathan son of Shamma the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sakar the Hararite,
34 Elifelet, syn Achasbaja, syna Maachatyty, Eliam, syn Achitofela Gilonity;
Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai the Maacathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,
35 Chesraj Karmelita, Paaraj Arbitczyk;
Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Archite,
36 Jigal, syn Natana z Soby, Bani Gadytczyk;
Igal the son of Nathan, from the army of the Hagrites,
37 Selek Ammonita, Nacharaj Beerotczyk, giermek Joaba, syna Serui;
Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, armor bearer to Joab the son of Zeruiah,
38 Ira Jitryta, Gareb Jitryta;
Ira the Jattirite, Gareb the Jattirite,
39 Uriasz Chetyta. Razem wszystkich trzydziestu siedmiu.
Uriah the Hethite: thirty-seven in all.
