II Kronik 16
1 W trzydziestym szóstym roku panowania Asy nadciągnął przeciw Judzie Basza, król Izraela, i zbudował Rama, aby [nikt] nie mógł wychodzić od Asy, króla Judy, i wchodzić do niego.
And in the thirty-eighth year of the reign of Asa, the king of Israel went up against Juda, and built Rama, so as not to allow egress or ingress to Asa king of Juda.
2 Wtedy Asa wziął srebro i złoto ze skarbców domu PANA i domu królewskiego i posłał [je] do Ben-Hadada, króla Syrii, który mieszkał w Damaszku, mówiąc:
And Asa took silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of the Lord, and of the king's house, and sent [them] to the son of Ader king of Syria, which lived in Damascus, saying,
3 [Trwa] przymierze między mną a tobą, j[ak było] między moim ojcem a twoim ojcem. Oto posyłam ci srebro i złoto. Idź i zerwij swoje przymierze z Baszą, królem Izraela, aby odstąpił ode mnie.
Make a covenant between me and you, and between my father and your father: behold, I have sent you gold and silver: come, and turn away from me Baasa king of Israel, and let him depart from me.
4 I Ben-Hadad posłuchał króla Asy, i posłał dowódców swoich wojsk przeciwko miastom Izraela. Uderzyli na Ijjon, Dan i Abelmaim oraz wszystkie miasta spichlerze Neftalego.
And the son of Ader listened to king Asa, and sent the captains of his host against the cities of Israel; and struck Aeon, and Dan, and Abelmain, and all the country round Nephthali.
5 Kiedy Basza o tym usłyszał, przestał budować Rama i przerwał swoje roboty.
And it came to pass when Baasa heard [it] he left off building Rama, and put a stop to his work:
6 Wtedy król Asa wziął ze sobą cały lud Judy i zabrali z Rama kamienie i drewno, z którego budował Basza, a zbudował z niego Geba i Mispę.
then king Asa took all Juda, and took the stones of Rama, and its timber, [with] which Baasa [had] built; and he built with them Gabae and Maspha.
7 A w tym czasie widzący Chanani przyszedł do Asy, króla Judy, i powiedział mu: Ponieważ polegałeś na królu Syrii, a nie na PANU, swoim Bogu, wojsko króla Syrii uszło ci z ręki.
And at that time came Anani the prophet to Asa king of Juda, and said to him, Because you did trust on the king of Syria, and did not trust on the Lord your God, therefore the army of Syria is escaped out of your hand.
8 Czyż Etiopczycy i Libijczycy nie mieli ogromnego wojska z mnóstwem rydwanów i jeźdźców? A jednak, ponieważ polegałeś na PANU, oddał ich w twoją rękę.
Were not the Ethiopians and Libyans a great force, in courage, in horsemen, in great numbers? and did not He deliver them into your hands, because you trusted in the Lord?
9 Oczy PANA przebiegają bowiem całą ziemię, aby pokazywał on swoją moc dla tych, których serce [jest] doskonałe wobec niego. Głupio postąpiłeś; z tego powodu odtąd będziesz miał wojny.
For the eyes of the Lord look upon all the earth, to strengthen every heart that is perfect towards him. In this you have done foolishly; henceforth there shall be war with you.
10 Wtedy Asa rozgniewał się na widzącego i wtrącił go do więzienia, bo był tym wzburzony. W tym czasie Asa uciskał także [niektórych] z ludu.
And Asa was angry with the prophet, and put him in prison, for he was angry at this: and Asa vexed some of the people at that time.
11 Ale pozostałe dzieje Asy, od pierwszych do ostatnich, są zapisane w księdze królów Judy i Izraela.
And, behold, the acts of Asa, the first and the last, [are] written in the book of the kings of Juda and Israel.
12 I w trzydziestym dziewiątym roku swojego panowania Asa rozchorował się na nogi, a choroba była bardzo ciężka. Jednak w swojej chorobie nie szukał PANA, lecz lekarzy.
And Asa was diseased [in] his feet in the thirty-ninth year of his reign, until he was very ill: but in his disease he sought not to the Lord, but to the physicians.
13 I tak Asa zasnął ze swoimi ojcami, i umarł w czterdziestym pierwszym roku swojego panowania.
And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the forties year of his reign.
14 I pogrzebano go w jego grobie, który sobie przygotował w mieście Dawida. Położono go na łożu wypełnionym wonnościami i rozmaitymi maściami przygotowanymi według sztuki aptekarskiej. I rozpalono mu wielki ogień.
And they buried him in the sepulchre which he had dug for himself in the city of David, and they laid him on a bed, and filled [it] with spices and [all] kinds of perfumes of the apothecaries; and they made for him a very great funeral.
