I Samuela 31
1 Tymczasem Filistyni walczyli z Izraelem, a Izraelici uciekli przed Filistynami i polegli na górze Gilboa.
And [the] Philistines [were] fighting against Israel and they fled [the] men of Israel from before [the] Philistines and they fell slain on [the] mountain of Gilboa.
2 Wtedy Filistyni ścigali Saula i jego synów i zabili Jonatana, Abinadaba i Malkiszuę, synów Saula.
And they pursued closely [the] Philistines Saul and sons his and they struck down [the] Philistines Jonathan and Abinadab and Malki-Shua [the] sons of Saul.
3 A gdy rozgorzała bitwa przeciwko Saulowi, łucznicy trafili na niego i został przez nich ciężko zraniony.
And it was heavy the battle against Saul and they found him the archers men with the bow and he was in severe pain exceedingly from the archers.
4 I Saul powiedział do swego giermka: Dobądź swój miecz i przebij mnie nim, aby nie przyszli ci nieobrzezani i nie przebili mnie, i nie znęcali się nade mną. Ale jego giermek nie chciał, ponieważ bardzo się bał. Saul wziął więc miecz i sam rzucił się na niego.
And he said Saul to [the] bearer of armor his draw out sword your - and pierce through me with it lest they should come the uncircumcised [men] these and they will pierce through me and they will deal wantonly with me and not he was willing [the] bearer of armor his for he was afraid exceedingly and he took Saul the sword and he fell on it.
5 A gdy jego giermek zobaczył, że Saul umarł, rzucił się i on na swój miecz i umarł razem z nim.
And he saw [the] bearer of armor his that he had died Saul and he fell also he on sword his and he died with him.
6 Tego dnia umarli więc razem Saul, jego trzej synowie, jego giermek oraz wszyscy jego ludzie.
And he died Saul and [the] three sons his and [the] bearer of armor his also all men his on the day that together.
7 A gdy Izraelici, którzy mieszkali po tamtej stronie doliny i którzy mieszkali za Jordanem, zobaczyli, że Izraelici uciekali i że Saul i jego synowie umarli, opuścili miasta i uciekli. Przyszli więc Filistyni i mieszkali w nich.
And they saw [the] men of Israel who [were] on [the] other side of the valley and who - [were] on [the] other side of the Jordan that they had fled [the] men of Israel and that they had died Saul and sons his and they abandoned the cities and they fled and they came [the] Philistines and they dwelt in them.
8 Kiedy nazajutrz Filistyni przyszli, aby złupić zabitych, znaleźli Saula i jego trzech synów leżących na górze Gilboa.
And it was from [the] next day and they came [the] Philistines to strip the [ones] slain and they found Saul and [the] three sons his fallen on [the] mountain of Gilboa.
9 Odcięli mu głowę, zdarli z niego zbroję i posłali po całej ziemi filistyńskiej, aby obwieścić [o tym] w świątyni swoich bożków i wśród ludu.
And they cut off head his and they stripped off armor his and they sent in [the] land of [the] Philistines all around to bear [the] news [the] house of idols their and the people.
10 Jego zbroję położyli w świątyni Asztarty, a jego ciało przybili do muru Bet-Szean.
And they put armor his [the] house of Ashtaroth and corpse his they fixed on [the] wall of Beth Shan.
11 Kiedy mieszkańcy Jabesz-Gilead usłyszeli o tym, co Filistyni uczynili Saulowi;
And they heard concerning him [the] inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead [that] which they had done [the] Philistines to Saul.
12 Powstali wszyscy dzielni mężczyźni i szli przez całą noc, i zdjęli ciało Saula oraz ciała jego synów z muru Bet-Szean, po czym wrócili do Jabesz i tam je spalili.
And they arose every man of strength and they went all the night and they took [the] corpse of Saul and [the] corpses of sons his from [the] wall of Beth Shan and they went Jabesh towards and they burned them there.
13 Wzięli potem ich kości i pogrzebali [je] pod drzewem w Jabesz. I pościli przez siedem dni.
And they took bones their and they buried [them] under the tamarisk tree at Jabesh and they fasted seven days.
