I Samuela 21
1 Potem Dawid przyszedł do Nob, do kapłana Achimeleka. Achimelek wyszedł przestraszony naprzeciw Dawida i zapytał go: Dlaczego jesteś sam i nie ma z tobą nikogo?
Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, Why are you alone, and no man with you?
2 Dawid odpowiedział kapłanowi Achimelekowi: Król zlecił mi [pewną] sprawę, nakazując: Niech nikt nie wie o tej sprawie, z którą cię wysyłam i którą ci zleciłem. Z tego powodu umówiłem się ze swoimi sługami w pewnym miejscu.
And David said unto Ahimelech the priest, The king has commanded me a business, and has said unto me, Let no man know any thing of the business whereabouts I send you, and what I have commanded you: and I have appointed my servants to such and such a place.
3 Teraz więc, co masz pod ręką? Daj mi do ręki pięć chlebów lub cokolwiek się znajdzie.
Now therefore what is under your hand? give me five loaves of bread in mine hand, or what there is present.
4 Kapłan odpowiedział Dawidowi: Nie mam pod ręką zwykłego chleba, tylko chleb poświęcony. [Dam ci go], ale pod warunkiem, że słudzy wstrzymali się od kobiet.
And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women.
5 Dawid odpowiedział kapłanowi: Na pewno kobiety były oddalone od nas przez trzy dni, odkąd wyruszyłem. Naczynia młodzieńców są więc święte. A [chleb] jest w pewien sposób zwykły, chociaż został dziś poświęcony w naczyniu.
And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Truthfully women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.
6 Kapłan dał mu więc poświęcony [chleb], gdyż nie było tam innego chleba oprócz chleba pokładnego, który zabrano sprzed oblicza PANA, aby w dniu jego usunięcia położyć świeży chleb.
So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the showbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.
7 W tym dniu był tam pewien człowiek spośród sług Saula, zatrzymany przed PANEM. Miał na imię Doeg, [był to] Edomita, przełożony nad pasterzami Saula.
Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul.
8 I Dawid zapytał Achimeleka: Czy nie masz tu pod ręką włóczni albo miecza? Bo nie wziąłem ze sobą ani swego miecza, ani żadnej swojej broni, gdyż sprawa króla była pilna.
And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under your hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste.
9 Kapłan odpowiedział: Miecz Goliata, Filistyna, którego zabiłeś w dolinie Ela, jest zawinięty w szatę za efodem. Jeśli chcesz go sobie wziąć, weź. Nie ma tu bowiem innego oprócz tego. Dawid odpowiedział: Nie ma od niego lepszego. Daj mi go.
And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you slew in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if you will take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.
10 Dawid wstał więc i uciekł tego dnia przed Saulem, i przybył do Akisza, króla Gat.
And David arose and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.
11 A słudzy Akisza mówili do niego: Czy to nie jest Dawid, król ziemi? Czy nie o nim śpiewano wśród pląsów: Saul pobił swoje tysiące, a Dawid swoich dziesiątki tysięcy?
And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?
12 I Dawid wziął sobie te słowa do serca, i bardzo się bał Akisza, króla Gat.
And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.
13 Zmienił więc przed nimi swoje zachowanie i udawał szalonego w ich rękach, bazgrał na wrotach bramy i pozwalał, aby ślina spływała mu po brodzie.
And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scratch on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.
14 Wtedy Akisz powiedział do swoich sług: Oto widzicie człowieka szalonego. Dlaczego przyprowadziliście go do mnie?
Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, all of you see the man is mad: wherefore then have all of you brought him to me?
15 Czy brakuje mi szaleńców, że przyprowadziliście tego, aby szalał przede mną? Czy on ma wejść do mego domu?
Have I need of mad men, that all of you have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?
