Rzymian 13
1 Każda dusza niech będzie zwierzchnościom wyższym poddana: boć nie masz zwierzchności, tylko od Boga; a te, które są zwierzchności, od Boga są postanowione.
Let every soul be subject to the powers that are over them: for there is no such power but from God: the powers that are over men, are appointed by God.
2 A tak, kto się zwierzchności sprzeciwia, Bożemu się postanowieniu sprzeciwia; a którzy się sprzeciwiają, sami sobie potępienie zjednają.
So that he who resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive condemnation.
3 Albowiem przełożoni nie są na postrach dobrym uczynkom, ale złym. A chcesz się nie bać zwierzchności, czyń, co jest dobrego, a będziesz miał pochwałę od niej;
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wouldest thou then not be afraid of the civil power? do what is good, and thou shalt have praise from it:
4 Bożym bowiem jest sługą tobie ku dobremu. Ale jeźli uczynisz, co jest złego, bój się; boć nie darmo miecz nosi, gdyż jest sługą Bożym, mszczącym się w gniewie nad czyniącym, co jest złego.
for he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou dost evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is also the minister of God, as an avenger to execute his wrath upon the malefactor.
5 Przetoż trzeba być poddanym nie tylko dla gniewu, ale i dla sumienia.
Wherefore it is necessary to submit, not only on account of punishment, but also of conscience.
6 Albowiem dla tego też podatki dajecie, gdyż są sługami Bożymi, którzy tego samego ustawicznie pilnują.
For you pay them tribute also for this reason; because they are God's ministers, continually attending hereunto.
7 Oddawajcież tedy każdemu, cobyście powinni: komu podatek, temu podatek, komu cło, temu cło, komu bojaźń, temu bojaźń; komu cześć, temu cześć.
Render therefore to all what is their due: tribute to whom tribute is due, custom to whom custom, reverence to whom reverence, honor to whom honor.
8 Nikomu nic winni nie bądźcie, tylko abyście się społecznie miłowali; bo kto miłuje bliźniego, zakon wypełnił.
Owe no one any thing, but to love one another; for he that loveth others hath fulfilled the law:
9 Gdyż to przykazanie: Nie będziesz cudzołożył, nie będziesz zabijał, nie będziesz kradł, nie będziesz fałszywie świadczył, nie będziesz pożądał, i jeźli które insze jest przykazanie, w tem słowie sumownie się zamyka, mianowicie: Będziesz miłował bliźniego twego, jako siebie samego.
for this command, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet, and every other social precept, is summed up in this, namely, "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."
10 Miłość bliźniemu złości nie wyrządza; a tak wypełnieniem zakonu jest miłość.
Love worketh no evil to our neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
11 A to czyńcie, wiedząc czas, iż już przyszła godzina, abyśmy się ze snu ocucili; albowiem teraz bliższe nas jest zbawienie, aniżeli kiedyśmy uwierzyli.
And this let us observe, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now is our salvation nearer than when we first believed.
12 Noc przeminęła, a dzień się przybliżył; odrzućmyż tedy uczynki ciemności, a obleczmy się w zbroję światłości.
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
13 Chodźmy uczciwie jako we dnie, nie w biesiadach i w pijaństwach, nie we wszeteczeństwach i rozpustach, nie w poswarkach ani w zazdrości;
Let us behave decently as being in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lasciviousness, not in strife and envying.
14 Ale obleczcie się w Pana Jezusa Chrystusa, a nie czyńcie starania o ciele ku wykonywaniu pożądliwości.
But put on the Lord Jesus, and make not provision for the flesh to gratify its irregular desires.
