1 Synu mój! nie zapominaj zakonu mego, a przykazań moich niech strzeże serce twoje.
My sonne, forget not thou my Lawe, but let thine heart keepe my commandements.
2 Boć długości dni i lat żywota, i pokoju przyczynią.
For they shall increase the length of thy dayes and the yeeres of life, and thy prosperitie.
3 Miłosierdzie i prawda niech cię nie opuszczają; uwiąż je u szyi twojej, napisz je na tablicy serca twojego.
Let not mercie and trueth forsake thee: binde them on thy necke, and write them vpon the table of thine heart.
4 Tedy znajdziesz łaskę i rozum dobry przed oczyma Bożemi i ludzkiemi.
So shalt thou finde fauour and good vnderstanding in the sight of God and man.
5 Ufaj w Panu ze wszystkiego serca twego, a na rozumie twoim nie spolegaj.
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and leane not vnto thine owne wisdome.
6 We wszystkich drogach twoich znaj go, a on prostować będzie ścieszki twoje.
In all thy wayes acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy wayes.
7 Nie bądź mądrym sam u siebie; ale się bój Pana, a odstąp od złego.
Be not wise in thine owne eyes: but feare the Lord, and depart from euill.
8 To będzie zdrowiem żywotowi twemu, a odwilżeniem kościom twoim.
So health shalbe vnto thy nauel, and marowe vnto thy bones.
9 Czcij Pana z majętności twojej, i z pierwiastek wszystkich dochodów twoich.
Honour the Lord with thy riches, and with the first fruites of all thine increase.
10 A gumna twoje napełnione będą obfitością, i od wina nowego prasy twoje rozpadać się będą.
So shall thy barnes be filled with abundance, and thy presses shall burst with newe wine.
11 Synu mój! karania Pańskiego nie odrzucaj, i nie uprzykrzaj sobie ćwiczenia jego.
My sonne, refuse not the chastening of the Lord, neither be grieued with his correction.
12 Bo kogo Pan miłuje, tego karze, a to jako ojciec, który się w synu kocha.
For the Lord correcteth him, whome he loueth, euen as the father doeth the childe in whom he deliteth.
13 Błogosławiony człowiek, który znajduje mądrość, i człowiek, który dostanie roztropności.
Blessed is the man that findeth wisedome, and the man that getteth vnderstanding.
14 Bo lepiej nią kupczyć, niżeli kupczyć srebrem: owszem pożyteczniejszy nad złoto dochód jej.
For the marchandise thereof is better then the marchandise of siluer, and the gaine thereof is better then golde.
15 Droższa jest nad perły, a wszystkie najmilsze rzeczy twoje nie zrównają się z nią.
It is more precious then pearles: and all things that thou canst desire, are not to be compared vnto her.
16 Przedłużenie dni w prawicy jej, a w lewicy jej bogactwa i zacność.
Length of dayes is in her right hand, and in her left hand riches and glory.
17 Drogi jej rozkoszne, i wszystkie ścieszki jej spokojne.
Her wayes are wayes of pleasure, and all her pathes prosperitie.
18 Drzewem żywota jest tym, którzyby się jej chwycili; a którzy się jej trzymają, są błogosławionymi.
She is a tree of life to them that lay holde on her, and blessed is he that retaineth her.
19 Pan mądrością ugruntował ziemię, a roztropnością umocnił niebiosa.
The Lord by wisdome hath layde the foundation of the earth, and hath stablished the heauens through vnderstanding.
20 Umiejętnością jego rozstąpiły się przepaści, a obłoki rosą kropią.
By his knowledge the depthes are broken vp, and the cloudes droppe downe the dewe.
21 Synu mój! niech to nie odstępuje od oczów twych: strzeż prawdziwej mądrości i roztropności;
My sonne, let not these things depart from thine eyes, but obserue wisdome, and counsell.
22 I będą żywotem duszy twojej, a ozdobą szyi twojej.
So they shalbe life to thy soule, and grace vnto thy necke.
23 Tedy będziesz chodził bezpiecznie droga twoją, a noga twoja nie potknie się.
Then shalt thou walke safely by thy way: and thy foote shall not stumble.
24 Jeźli się układziesz, nie będziesz się lękał; a gdy się uspokoisz, wdzięczny będzie sen twój.
If thou sleepest, thou shalt not bee afraide, and when thou sleepest, thy sleepe shalbe sweete.
25 Nie ulękniesz się strachu nagłego, ani spustoszenia bezbożników, gdy przyjdzie.
Thou shalt not feare for any sudden feare, neither for the destruction of the wicked, when it commeth.
26 Albowiem Pan będzie ufaniem twojem, a nogi twojej będzie strzegł od samołówki.
For the Lord shall be for thine assurance, and shall preserue thy foote from taking.
27 Nie zbraniaj się dobrze czynić potrzebującemu, gdy cię na to stanie, abyś dobrze czynił.
Withhold not the good from the owners thereof, though there be power in thine hand to doe it.
28 Nie mów bliźniemu twemu: Idź, a wróć się, a jutroć dam; gdyż to masz u siebie.
Say not vnto thy neighbour, Go and come againe, and to morow wil I giue thee, if thou now haue it.
29 Nie knuj złego przeciwko bliźniemu twemu, gdyż on z tobą dowiernie mieszka.
Intend none hurt against thy neighbour, seeing he doeth dwell without feare by thee.
30 Nie wadź się z człowiekiem bez przyczyny, jeźliżeć nic złego nie wyrządził.
Striue not with a man causelesse, when he hath done thee no harme.
31 Nie zajrzyj mężowi gwałt czyniącemu, a nie obieraj żadnej drogi jego.
Bee not enuious for the wicked man, neither chuse any of his wayes.
32 Albowiem przewrotny jest obrzydliwością przed Panem; ale z szczerymi tajemnica jego;
For the frowarde is abomination vnto the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous.
33 Przeklęstwo Pańskie jest w domu niezbożnika; ale przybytkowi sprawiedliwych błogosławi,
The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the righteous.
34 Ponieważ on szydzi z pośmiewców, ale pokornym łaskę daje.
With the scornefull he scorneth, but hee giueth grace vnto the humble.
35 Mądrzy dziedzicznie sławę osiędą, ale głupi odniosą zelżywość.
The wise shall inherite glorie: but fooles dishonour, though they be exalted.
