1 Odpowiedź łagodna uśmierza gniew; ale słowa przykre wzruszają popędliwość.
A soft answer turneth back fury, And a grievous word raiseth up anger.
2 Język mądrych zdobi umiejętność; ale usta głupich wywierają głupstwo.
The tongue of the wise maketh knowledge good, And the mouth of fools uttereth folly.
3 Na każdem miejscu oczy Pańskie upatrują złe i dobre.
In every place are the eyes of Jehovah, Watching the evil and the good.
4 Zdrowy język jest drzewo żywota; ale przewrotność z niego jest jako zdruzgotanie od wiatru.
A healed tongue [is] a tree of life, And perverseness in it — a breach in the spirit.
5 Głupi gardzi karaniem ojca swego; ale kto przyjmuje napomnienie, stanie się ostrożnym.
A fool despiseth the instruction of his father, And whoso is regarding reproof is prudent.
6 W domu sprawiedliwego jest dostatek wielki; ale w dochodach niepobożnego zamięszanie.
[In] the house of the righteous [is] abundant strength, And in the increase of the wicked — trouble.
7 Wargi mądrych sieją umiejętność; ale serce głupich nie tak.
The lips of the wise scatter knowledge, And the heart of fools [is] not right.
8 Ofiara niepobożnych jest obrzydliwością Panu; ale modlitwa szczerych podoba mu się.
The sacrifice of the wicked [is] an abomination to Jehovah, And the prayer of the upright [is] His delight.
9 Obrzydliwością Panu jest droga bezbożnego, ale tego, co idzie za sprawiedliwością, miłuje.
An abomination to Jehovah [is] the way of the wicked, And whoso is pursuing righteousness He loveth.
10 Karanie srogie należy temu, co opuszcza drogę; a kto ma w nienawiści karność, umrze.
Chastisement [is] grievous to him who is forsaking the path, Whoso is hating reproof dieth.
Sheol and destruction [are] before Jehovah, Surely also the hearts of the sons of men. (Sheol h7585)
12 Naśmiewca nie miłuje tego, który go karze, ani do mądrych przychodzi.
A scorner loveth not his reprover, Unto the wise he goeth not.
13 Serce wesołe uwesela twarz; ale dla żałości serca duch strapiony bywa.
A joyful heart maketh glad the face, And by grief of heart is the spirit smitten.
14 Serce rozumne szuka umiejętności; ale usta głupich karmią się głupstwem
The heart of the intelligent seeketh knowledge, And the mouth of fools enjoyeth folly.
15 Wszystkie dni ubogiego są złe; ale kto jest wesołego serca, ma gody ustawiczne.
All the days of the afflicted [are] evil, And gladness of heart [is] a perpetual banquet.
16 Lepsza jest trocha w bojaźni Pańskiej, niżeli skarb wielki z kłopotem.
Better [is] a little with the fear of Jehovah, Than much treasure, and tumult with it.
17 Lepszy jest pokarm z jarzyny, gdzie jest miłość, niżeli z karmnego wołu, gdzie jest nienawiść.
Better [is] an allowance of green herbs and love there, Than a fatted ox, and hatred with it.
18 Mąż gniewliwy wszczyna swary; ale nierychły do gniewu uśmierza zwady.
A man of fury stirreth up contention, And the slow to anger appeaseth strife.
19 Droga leniwego jest jako płot cierniowy, ale ścieszka szczerych jest równa.
The way of the slothful [is] as a hedge of briers, And the path of the upright is raised up.
20 Syn mądry uwesela ojca; ale głupi człowiek lekce waży matkę swoję.
A wise son rejoiceth a father. And a foolish man is despising his mother.
21 Głupstwo jest weselem głupiemu, ale człowiek roztropny prostuje drogę swoję.
Folly is joy to one lacking heart, And a man of intelligence directeth [his] going.
22 Gdzie niemasz rady, rozsypują się myśli; ale w mnóstwie radców ostoją się.
Without counsel [is] the making void of purposes, And in a multitude of counsellors it is established.
23 Weseli się człowiek z odpowiedzi ust swoich: bo słowo według czasu wyrzeczone, o jako jest dobre!
Joy [is] to a man in the answer of his mouth, And a word in its season — how good!
A path of life [is] on high for the wise, To turn aside from Sheol beneath. (Sheol h7585)
25 Pan wywróci dom pysznych; ale wdowy granicę utwierdzi.
The house of the proud Jehovah pulleth down, And He setteth up the border of the widow.
26 Myśli złego są obrzydliwością Panu! ale powieści czystych są przyjemne.
An abomination to Jehovah [are] thoughts of wickedness, And pure [are] sayings of pleasantness.
27 Kto chciwie naśladuje łakomstwa, zamięszanie czyni w domu swoim; ale kto ma w nienawiści dary, będzie żył.
A dishonest gainer is troubling his house, And whoso is hating gifts liveth.
28 Serce sprawiedliwego przemyśliwa, co ma mówić; ale usta niepobożnych wywierają złe rzeczy.
The heart of the righteous meditateth to answer, And the mouth of the wicked uttereth evil things.
29 Dalekim jest Pan od niepobożnych; ale modlitwę sprawiedliwych wysłuchiwa.
Far [is] Jehovah from the wicked, And the prayer of the righteous He heareth.
30 Światłość oczów uwesela serce, a wieść dobra tuczy kości.
The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart, A good report maketh fat the bone.
31 Ucho, które słucha karności żywota, w pośrodku mądrych mieszkać będzie.
An ear that is hearing the reproof of life Doth lodge among the wise.
32 Kto uchodzi ćwiczenia, zaniedbywa duszy swojej; ale kto przyjmuje karanie, ma rozum.
Whoso is refusing instruction is despising his soul, And whoso is hearing reproof Is getting understanding.
33 Bojaźń Pańska jest ćwiczenie się w mądrości, a sławę uprzedza poniżenie.
The fear of Jehovah [is] the instruction of wisdom, And before honour [is] humility!
