Przysłów 13
1 Syn mądry przyjmuje ćwiczenie ojcowskie, ale naśmiewca nie słucha strofowania.
A wise son — the instruction of a father, And a scorner — he hath not heard rebuke.
2 Każdy będzie pożywał dobrego z owocu ust swoich; ale dusza przewrotnych krzywdy pożywać będzie.
From the fruit of the mouth a man eateth good, And the soul of the treacherous — violence.
3 Kto strzeże ust swych, strzeże duszy swojej; kto lekkomyślnie otwiera wargi swe, będzie starty.
Whoso is keeping his mouth, is keeping his soul, Whoso is opening wide his lips — ruin to him!
4 Dusza leniwego żąda, a nic nie ma; ale dusza pracowitych zbogaci się.
The soul of the slothful is desiring, and hath not. And the soul of the diligent is made fat.
5 Słowa kłamliwego nienawidzi sprawiedliwy; ale niezbożny staje się obrzydliwym i shańbionym.
A false word the righteous hateth, And the wicked causeth abhorrence, and is confounded.
6 Sprawiedliwość strzeże tego, który żyje bez zmazy; ale niezbożność podwraca grzesznika.
Righteousness keepeth him who is perfect in the way, And wickedness overthroweth a sin offering.
7 Znajduje się taki co się czyni bogatym, a nie ma nic; i taki, co się czyni ubogim, choć ma wiele bogactw.
There is who is making himself rich, and hath nothing, Who is making himself poor, and wealth [is] abundant.
8 Okup żywota człowieczego jest bogactwo jego; ale ubogi nie słucha łajania.
The ransom of a man's life [are] his riches, And the poor hath not heard rebuke.
9 Światłość sprawiedliwych jasna: ale pochodnia bezbożnych zgaśnie.
The light of the righteous rejoiceth, And the lamp of the wicked is extinguished.
10 Samą tylko pychą człowiek zwady wszczyna, ale przy tych, co radę przyjmują, jest mądrość.
A vain man through pride causeth debate, And with the counselled [is] wisdom.
11 Bogactwa źle nabyte umniejszą się; ale kto je zgromadza ręką swą, przyczynia ich.
Wealth from vanity becometh little, And whoso is gathering by the hand becometh great.
12 Nadzieja długa wątli serce; ale żądość wypełniona jest drzewem żywota.
Hope prolonged is making the heart sick, And a tree of life [is] the coming desire.
13 Kto gardzi słowem Bożem, sam sobie szkodzi; ale kto się boi przykazania jego, odniesie nagrodę.
Whoso is despising the Word is destroyed for it, And whoso is fearing the Command is repayed.
14 Nauka mądrego jest źródłem żywota ku ochronieniu się sideł śmierci.
The law of the wise [is] a fountain of life, To turn aside from snares of death.
15 Rozum dobry daje łaskę; ale droga przewrotnych jest przykra.
Good understanding giveth grace, And the way of the treacherous [is] hard.
16 Każdy ostrożny umiejętnie sobie poczyna; ale głupi rozpościera głupstwo.
Every prudent one dealeth with knowledge, And a fool spreadeth out folly.
17 Poseł niezbożny upada we złe; ale poseł wierny jest lekarstwem.
A wicked messenger falleth into evil, And a faithful ambassador is healing.
18 Ubóstwo i zelżywość przyjdzie na tego, który się wyłamuje z karności; ale kto przestrzega upominania, wysławiony będzie.
Whoso is refusing instruction — poverty and shame, And whoso is observing reproof is honoured.
19 Żądność wypełniona słodka jest duszy; ale odstąpić od złego, głupim jest obrzydliwością.
A desire accomplished is sweet to the soul, And an abomination to fools [is]: Turn from evil.
20 Kto chodzi z mądrymi, mądrym będzie; ale kto towarzyszy z głupimi, startym będzie.
Whoso is walking with wise men is wise, And a companion of fools suffereth evil.
21 Nieszczęście grzeszników ściga; ale sprawiedliwym Bóg dobrem nagrodzi.
Evil pursueth sinners, And good recompenseth the righteous.
22 Dobry człowiek zostawia dziedzictwo synom synów swoich; ale majętność grzesznika sprawiedliwemu zachowana bywa.
A good man causeth sons' sons to inherit, And laid up for the righteous [is] the sinner's wealth.
23 Obfita żywność na roli ubogich, a drugi ginie przez nieroztropność.
Abundance of food — the tillage of the poor, And substance is consumed without judgment.
24 Kto zawściąga rózgi swej, ma w nienawiści syna swego; ale kto go miłuje, wczas go karze.
Whoso is sparing his rod is hating his son, And whoso is loving him hath hastened him chastisement.
25 Sprawiedliwy je, i nasyca duszę swoję; ale żołądek niezbożnych niedostatek cierpi.
The righteous is eating to the satiety of his soul, And the belly of the wicked lacketh!
