1 Tedy się zbuntował Kore, syn Izaara, syna Kaatowego, syna Lewiego, także Datan i Abiron, synowie Elijabowi, i Hon, syn Faletów z synów Rubenowych.
Korah, son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi tried to take over leadership, along with Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab, and On, son of Peleth, who were from the tribe of Reuben.
2 I powstali przeciw Mojżeszowi, a z nimi mężów z synów Izraelskich dwieście i pięćdziesiąt, książęta między ludem, których do rady przyzywano, ludzie zacni.
They rebelled against Moses, and were joined by 250 well-respected Israelite leaders and members of the assembly.
3 Ci zebrawszy się przeciw Mojżeszowi, i przeciw Aaronowi, rzekli im: Wiele to na was, ponieważ wszystek ten lud, wszyscy są święci, a w pośrodku nich jest Pan; przeczże się wy wynosicie nad zgromadzeniem Pańskiem?
They joined together in opposition to Moses and Aaron, telling them, “You've taken too much power for yourselves! Every one of the Israelites is holy, and the Lord is among them. So why do you set yourselves above the Lord's assembly?”
4 Co gdy usłyszał Mojżesz, upadł na oblicze swoje,
When Moses heard what they were saying, he fell facedown on the ground.
5 I rzekł do Korego i do wszystkiej roty jego, mówiąc: Rano pokaże Pan, kto jest jego, i kto jest święty, i kto ma przystępować przedeń; bo kogo sobie wybrał, temu rozkaże przystąpić do siebie.
Then he told Korah and all those with him, “In the morning the Lord is going to make it clear who is his and who is holy, and allow that person to approach him. He will only allow whoever he chooses to approach him.
6 To tedy uczynicie: Weźmiecie sobie kadzielnice, ty Kore, i wszystka rota twoja.
This is what you, Korah, and everyone with you are going to do. Take some incense burners,
7 I nakładłszy w nie ognia, włóżcie nań kadzidła przed Panem jutro; i stanie się, że kogokolwiek obierze Pan, ten będzie świętym: wiele to na was synowie Lewiego.
and tomorrow put incense in them and set it on fire in the presence of the Lord. Then the man the Lord chooses is the one who is holy. It is you Levites who are taking too much power for yourselves!”
8 Nad to rzekł Mojżesz do Korego: Słuchajcie proszę synowie Lewiego;
Moses also told Korah, “Listen, you Levites!
9 Izali wam to mało, że was oddzielił Bóg Izraelski od zgromadzenia Izraelskiego, abyście przystępowali do niego ku odprawowaniu usługi w przybytku Pańskim, a iżbyście stali przed zgromadzeniem, i służyli mu?
Do you think it's something insignificant that the God of Israel chose you from all the other Israelites and allowed you to approach him and carry out the work in the Lord's Tabernacle, to stand before the Israelites and serve them?
10 I przyjął ciebie, i wszystkę bracią twoję, syny Lewiego z tobą, że jeszcze szukacie kapłaństwa?
He has allowed you the privilege of approaching him, Korah, you and all the other Levites, but now you want to have the priesthood as well!
11 Dla tegoż, ty i wszystka rota twoja, zbuntowaliście się przeciw Panu; bo Aaron cóż jest, żeście szemrali przeciw niemu?
So in reality you and those who have joined you are fighting against the Lord—because who is Aaron that you should complain about him?”
12 Tedy posłał Mojżesz, aby zawołano Datana, i Abirona, synów Elijabowych, którzy odpowiedzieli: Nie pójdziemy.
Moses summoned Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, but they replied, “We're not going to appear before you!
13 Izali mało na tem, żeś nas wywiódł z ziemi opływającej mlekiem i miodem, abyś nas pomorzył na tej puszczy, że jeszcze chcesz mieć nad nami zwierzchność i nam rozkazować?
Haven't you done enough by taking us away from a land flowing with milk and honey in order to kill us out here in the desert? Do you have to make yourself a dictator as well, someone to rule us?
14 Ku temu do ziemi opływającej mlekiem i miodem nie wprowadziłeś nas, aniś nam dał w dziedzictwo pól i winnic: izali oczy tym mężom wyłupić chcesz? Nie pójdziemy
On top of that you haven't taken us to a land flowing with milk and honey or given us fields and vineyards to own. Do you really think you can fool everyone? No, we will not attend!”
15 Tedy się rozgniewał Mojżesz bardzo, i rzekł do Pana: Nie patrz na ofiarę ich; ni jednego osła nie wziąłem od nich, anim co złego komu z nich uczynił.
Moses got really angry and said to the Lord, “Don't accept their offerings. I have never taken even a donkey from them or treated any of them badly.”
16 Potem rzekł Mojżesz do Korego: Ty, i wszystka rota twoja, stawcie się przed Pana jutro, ty, i oni, i Aaron:
Moses told Korah, “You and all those who have joined you must appear before the Lord tomorrow—all of you and Aaron too.
17 A wziąwszy każdy kadzielnicę swoję, włóżcie w nię kadzidła, i stawcie się przed Pana, każdy z kadzielnicą swoją, dwieście i pięćdziesiąt kadzielnic, i ty, i Aaron, każdy z kadzielnicą swoją.
Each one will take his incense burner, put incense in it, and offer it before the Lord. All 250 of you will use your incense burners and Aaron will as well.”
18 Wziął tedy każdy kadzielnicę swoję, a włożywszy w nią ognia nakładli w nią kadzidła; i stanęli u drzwi namiotu zgromadzenia Mojżesz i Aaron.
So each one took his incense burner, put incense in it, set it on fire, and stood together with Moses and Aaron at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
19 Ale Kore już był zebrał przeciwko nim wszystkę rotę do drzwi namiotu zgromadzenia; tedy chwała Pańska ukazała się wszystkiemu ludowi.
When Korah had gathered all his rebellious group at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, the Lord's glory appeared before the whole congregation.
20 I rzekł Pan do Mojżesza i do Aarona, mówiąc:
The Lord told Moses and Aaron,
21 Odłączcie się z pośrodku zebrania tego, abym je nagle zatracił.
“Step away from these Israelites and I will destroy them right away.”
22 Lecz oni upadli na oblicza swe i rzekli: O Boże, Boże Duchów, i wszelkiego ciała! człowiek jeden zgrzeszył, a na wszystekże lud gniewać się będziesz?
But Moses and Aaron fell facedown on the ground said, “God—God of everything that lives—when it's just one man who sins, do you have to be angry with the everybody?”
23 Tedy rzekł Pan do Mojżesza, mówiąc:
Then the Lord told Moses,
24 Rzecz do zgromadzenia, a mów: Odstąpcie od namiotu Korego, Datana i Abirona.
“Tell the people to move away from the homes of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.”
25 A wstawszy Mojżesz, szedł do Datana i Abirona; i szli za nim starsi Izraelscy.
So Moses went over to Dathan and Abiram, and the Israelite elders of Israel followed him.
26 I rzekł do zgromadzenia, mówiąc: Odstąpcie, proszę, od namiotów mężów tych niepobożnych, ani się dotykajcie wszystkiego, co ich jest, byście snać nie zginęli we wszystkich grzechach ich.
He ordered the people, “Move away from the tents of these wicked men and don't touch anything that belongs to them, otherwise you will be destroyed along with them in all their sins.”
27 I odstąpili od namiotu Korego, Datana i Abirona zewsząd. Ale Datan i Abiron wyszedłszy stali u drzwi namiotów swoich, i żony ich, i synowie ich, i maluczcy ich.
The people moved away from the homes of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. Dathan and Abiram came out and stood at the entrances to their tents along with their wives, children and little ones.
28 Tedy rzekł Mojżesz: Po tem poznacie, że mię Pan posłał, abym czynił te wszystkie sprawy, a że nic z domysłu serca swego nie czynię;
Moses said, “This is how you will know that the Lord did send me to carry out everything I've done, for it wasn't anything I thought up.
29 Jeźliże tak, jako inni ludzie umierają, pomrą ci, a zwykłem innych ludzi karaniem, karani będą, nie posłał mię Pan;
If these men die a natural death, experiencing the destiny of every human being, then the Lord didn't sent me.
30 Ale jeźliż co nowego uczyni Pan, że otworzy ziemia usta swe, i pożre je i wszystkiego co mają, i zstąpią żywo do piekła, tedy poznacie, że rozdraźnili ci mężowie Pana. (Sheol h7585)
But if the Lord does something totally different, and the earth opens up and swallows them down along with everything that belongs to them so that they go down alive into Sheol, then you will know that these men have acted with contempt to the Lord.” (Sheol h7585)
31 I stało się, gdy przestał mówić wszystkich tych słów, że się rozstąpiła ziemia pod nimi;
Immediately Moses finished saying all this the ground under the rebels split apart,
32 A otworzywszy ziemia paszczękę swoję, pożarła je, i domy ich, ze wszystkimi ludźmi, którzy byli przy Korem, i wszystkie majętności ich.
and the earth opened up and swallowed them and their households down, as well as everyone who was there with Korah and everything that belonged to them.
33 I zstąpili oni ze wszystkiem co mieli, żywo do piekła, i okryła je ziemia, i poginęli z pośrodku zgromadzenia. (Sheol h7585)
They went down alive into Sheol with all that they had. The earth closed over them, and they were no more. (Sheol h7585)
34 Wszyscy zaś Izraelitowie, którzy byli około nich, uciekali na krzyk ich, bo mówili: By snać nie pożarła i nas ziemia.
When they heard their cries, all the Israelites nearby ran away, shouting, “Watch out! The earth could swallow us too!”
35 Wyszedł także ogień od Pana, i spalił onych dwieście i pięćdziesiąt mężów, którzy ofiarowali kadzenie.
Fire burst out from the Lord and burned up the 250 men who were offering incense.
36 Potem rzekł Pan do Mojżesza mówiąc:
Then the Lord said to Moses,
37 Rzecz do Eleazara, syna Aaronowego, kapłana, aby pozbierał kadzielnice z onego pogorzeliska, a ogień i tam i sam niech rozrzuci; bo są poświęcone.
“Tell Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, to collect the holy incense burners from among those who have been burned up, and scatter the coals used for the incense well away from the camp.
38 A z kadzielnic tych, którzy zgrzeszyli przeciwko duszom swym, rozbiwszy je na blachy, niech obije ołtarz, bo iż w nich ofiarowali przed Panem, poświęcone są, przetoż będą na znak synom Izraelskim.
Have the incense burners of those who sinned at the expense of their own lives hammered into metal sheets as a covering for the altar, because they were offered before the Lord, and so have become holy. They will be a reminder to Israelites of what happened.”
39 Tedy pozbierał Eleazar kapłan one miedziane kadzielnice, w których ofiarowali oni popaleni; i rozbito je na blachy, na obicie ołtarza.
So Eleazar the priest collected the bronze incense burners used by those who had been burned up, and had them hammered out as a covering for the altar,
40 Na pamiątkę synom Izraelskim, aby nie przystępował żaden obcy, któryby nie był z nasienia Aaronowego, do odprawowania kadzenia przed Panem, aby mu się nie stało jako Koremu, i jako rocie jego, jako mu był powiedział Pan przez Mojżesza.
following the instructions given to him from the Lord through Moses. This was to remind the Israelites that no one who is not a descendant of Aaron should come and offer incense before the Lord, otherwise they could end up like Korah and those with him.
41 I szemrało wszystko zgromadzenie synów Izraelskich nazajutrz przeciwko Mojżeszowi, i przeciwko Aaronowi, mówiąc: Wyście przyczyną śmierci ludu Pańskiego,
The next day all the Israelites complained to Moses and Aaron, saying, “You have killed the Lord's people!”
42 I stało się, gdy się zbierał lud przeciw Mojżeszowi, i przeciw Aaronowi, że spojrzeli ku namiotowi zgromadzenia, a oto, okrył go obłok, i okazała się chwała Pańska.
But as the people gathered to confront them, Moses and Aaron went over to the Tent of Meeting, and suddenly the cloud covered it and the Lord's glory appeared.
43 I przyszedł Mojżesz z Aaronem przed namiot zgromadzenia.
Moses and Aaron went and stood at the front of the Tent of Meeting,
44 I rzekł Pan do Mojżesza, mówiąc:
and the Lord said to Moses,
45 Wynijdźcie z pośrodku zgromadzenia tego, a wytracę je w okamgnieniu; i upadli na oblicza swoje.
“Get away from these people and I will finish them off immediately.” Moses and Aaron fell facedown on the ground.
46 Potem rzekł Mojżesz do Aarona: Weźmij kadzielnicę, a włóż w nią ognia z ołtarza, włóż też kadzidło, a natychmiast idź do zgromadzenia, i oczyść je; boć już wyszła popędliwość od twarzy Pańskiej, a już się zaczęło karanie.
Moses told Aaron, “Put some coals from the altar and some incense in your incense burner. Then run to the people and make them right before the Lord, for the Lord is angry with them and a plague has started.”
47 Wziął tedy Aaron kadzielnicę, jako mu rozkazał Mojżesz, i przybieżał w pośrodek zgromadzenia, a oto już się była zaczęła plaga w ludzie; i uczyniwszy kadzenie oczyścił lud.
Aaron took the incense burner just as Moses had told him and ran into the middle of the assembly. He saw that the plague had started to affect the people so he offered the incense and made the people right with the Lord.
48 I stanął Aaron między umarłymi i między żywymi, a zahamowana jest plaga.
He stood between those who had died and those who were still alive, and the plague was stopped.
49 A było umarłych od onej plagi czternaście tysięcy i siedem set, oprócz onych, którzy pomarli z przyczyny Korego.
However, 14,700 died from the plague in addition to those who'd died because of Korah.
50 Zatem się wrócił Aaron do Mojżesza ku drzwiom namiotu zgromadzenia, gdy plaga zahamowana była.
Then Aaron went back to Moses at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting because the plague had been stopped.
