1 A tak posłał Jozue, syn Nunów, z Syttim dwóch szpiegów potajemnie, mówiąc: Idźcie, wypatrujcie ziemię, i Jerycho. Szli tedy i weszli do niektórej niewiasty wszetecznej, której imię Rachab, i odpoczęli tam.
Therfor Josue, the sone of Nun, sente fro Sethym twei men, aspieris in hiddlis, and seide to hem, Go ye, and biholde ye the lond, and the citee of Jerico. Whiche yeden, and entriden into the hous of a womman hoore, `Raab bi name, and restiden at hir.
2 I powiedziano to królowi Jerycha, mówiąc: Oto, mężowie jacyś przyszli tu tej nocy z synów Izraelskich, aby przeszpiegowali tę ziemię.
And it was teld, `and seid to the kyng of Jerico, Lo! men of the sones of Israel entriden hidir bi nyyt, to aspie the lond.
3 Tedy posłał król Jerycha do Rachaby, mówiąc: Wywiedź męże, którzy przyszli do ciebie, a weszli do domu twego; bo na przeszpiegowanie wszystkiej ziemi przyszli.
Therfor the kyng of Jerico sente to Raab the hoore, and seide, Brynge out the men, that camen to thee, and entriden in to thin hous; for thei ben aspieris, and thei camen to biholde al the lond.
4 Ale wziąwszy ona niewiasta tych dwóch mężów, skryła je, i rzekła: Prawdać jest, przyszli do mnie mężowie; alem nie wiedziała, skąd byli.
And the womman took the men, and hidde hem, and seide, Y knowleche, thei camen to me, but Y wiste not of whenus thei weren;
5 A gdy bramę zamykano w zmierzch, oni mężowie wyszli; i nie wiem, dokąd poszli; gońcież ich co najrychlej, bo ich dościgniecie.
and whanne the yate was closid in derknessis, and thei yeden out to gidire, Y noot whidur thei yeden; pursue ye soone, and ye schulen take hem.
6 A ona wwiodła je była na dach, i tam je przykryła lnem nietartym, który była rozstawiła na dachu.
Forsothe sche made the men to stie in to the soler of hir hows, and hilide hem with stobil of flex, that was there.
7 Mężowie tedy wysłani gonili je drogą ku Jordanu aż do brodu; a bramę zamkniono, skoro wyszli ci, którzy szli za nimi w pogoń.

8 A tak pierwej niż posnęli, ona wstąpiła do nich na dach;
Thei that weren hid, slepten not yit, and lo! the womman stiede to hem, and seide,
9 I rzekła do onych mężów: Wiem, że wam dał Pan ziemię tę; bo strach wasz przypadł na nas, i osłabiali wszyscy obywatele tej ziemi przed wami.
Y knowe that the Lord hath bitake to you this lond; for youre feerdfulnesse felde in to vs, and alle the dwelleris of the lond `weren sike.
10 Bośmy słyszeli, jako wysuszył Pan wody morza czerwonego przed wami, gdyście wychodzili z Egiptu, i coście uczynili dwom królom Amorejskim, którzy byli z onej strony Jordanu, Sehonowi, i Ogowi, któreście pobili.
We herden, that the Lord driede the watris of the Reed See at youre entryng, whanne ye yeden out of Egipt; and what thingis ye diden to twei kyngis of Ammorreis, that weren biyende Jordan, to Seon and Og, whiche ye killiden;
11 Co gdyśmy usłyszeli, upadło serce nasze i nie ostał się więcej duch w nikim przed wami; albowiem Pan, Bóg wasz, jest Bogiem na niebie wzgórę, i na ziemi nisko.
and we herden these thingis, and we dredden, and oure herte `was sike, and spirit dwellide not in vs at youre entryng; for youre Lord God hym silf is God in heuene aboue, and in erthe bynethe.
12 Przetoż teraz przysiężcie mi proszę przez Pana, iż jakom ja uczyniła z wami miłosierdzie, także uczyńcie i wy z domem ojca mego miłosierdzie, a dajcie mi znak pewny,
Now therfor swere ye to me bi the Lord God, that as Y dide merci with you, so and ye do with the hows of my fadir; and yyue ye to me a veri signe,
13 Iż zachowacie żywo ojca mego i matkę moję, i bracią moję, i siostry moje, i wszystko, co ich jest, a wybawicie dusze nasze od śmierci.
that ye saue my fadir and modir, and my britheren and sistris, and alle thingis that ben herne, and dilyuere oure lyues fro deeth.
14 I odpowiedzieli jej oni mężowie: Dusza nasza będzie za was na śmierć, jeźli nie wydacie tej sprawy naszej, i będzie to, gdy nam poda Pan tę ziemię, że uczynimy z tobą miłosierdzie i prawdę.
Whiche answeriden to hir, Oure lijf be for you in to deeth, if netheles thou bitraiest not vs; and whanne the Lord hath bitake to vs the lond, we schulen do mercy and treuthe in thee.
15 I spuściła je na powrozie z okna; bo dom jej był przy murze i ona na murze mieszkała.
Therfor sche let hem doun fro the wyndow bi a corde; for hir hows cleuyde to the wal.
16 I rzekła im: Na górę idźcie, by się snać nie spotkali z wami, którzy was gonią: i tam się kryjcie przez trzy dni, aż się wrócą, którzy was gonią, a potem pójdziecie drogą waszą.
And sche seide to hem, Stie ye to the hilli places, lest perauenture men turnynge ayen meete you; and be ye hidde there three daies, til thei comen ayen; and so ye schulen go bi youre weie.
17 I rzekli jej mężowie oni: Będziemy wolni od przysięgi tej, którąś nas poprzysięgła,
Whiche seiden to hir, We schulen be giltles of this ooth, bi which thou hast chargid vs,
18 Jeźli, gdy wnijdziemy do ziemi, tego czerwonego sznuru nie uwiążesz u okna, po którymeś nas spuściła, a ojca twego, i matki twojej, i braci twojej, i wszystkiego domu ojca twego nie zbierzeszli do siebie w dom;
if, whanne we entren in to the lond, this reed corde is not a signe, and thou byndist it not in the wyndow, bi which thou lettist vs doun; and thou gaderist not in to thi hows thi fadir and modir, and britheren, and al thi kynrede; the blood of hym schal be on his heed,
19 Albowiem ktobykolwiek wyszedł ze drzwi domu twego, krew jego będzie na głowę jego, a my będziemy bez winy; ale każdego, ktokolwiek będzie z tobą w domu, krew jego obróci się na głowę naszę, jeźli się go kto rękę dotknie.
that goith out at the dore of thin hows, and we schulen be alien, that is, giltles; forsothe the blood of alle men that ben in the hows with thee, schal turne in to oure heed, if ony man touchith hem.
20 Lecz jeźli wydasz tę sprawę naszę, tedy będziemy wolni od przysięgi twojej, którąś nas poprzysięgła.
`That if thou wolt betraie vs, and brynge forth in to the myddis this word, we schulen be cleene of this ooth, bi which thou hast chargid vs.
21 I odpowiedziała; Jakoście powiedzieli, niechże tak będzie. Tedy je wypuściła, i poszli; i uwiązała sznur czerwony w onem oknie.
And sche answeride, As ye han spoke, so be it doon. And sche lefte hem, that thei schulden go, and sche hangide a reed corde in her wyndow.
22 A odszedłszy przyszli na górę, i zostali tam przez trzy dni, aż się wrócili, którzy je gonili; bo ich szukali ci, którzy je gonili, po wszystkich drogach, ale nie znaleźli.
Sotheli thei yeden, and camen to the hilli places, and dwelliden there three daies, til thei turneden ayen that pursueden; for thei souyten bi ech weie, and founden not hem.
23 I wrócili się oni dwaj mężowie, a zstąpiwszy z góry, przeprawili się, i przyszli do Jozuego, syna Nunowego, i powiedzieli mu wszystko, co się z nimi działo;
And whanne the sekeris entriden in to the citee, the spieris turneden ayen, and camen doun fro the hille; and whanne thei hadde passid Jordan, thei camen to Josue, the sone of Nun;
24 I mówili do Jozuego: Dał Pan w ręce nasze tę wszystkę ziemię; bo się strwożyli wszyscy obywatele ziemi przed twarzą naszą.
and thei telden to hym alle thingis that bifelden to hem, and seiden, The Lord hath bitake al the lond in to oure hondis, and alle the dwelleris thereof ben casten doun bi drede.
