Jana 18
1 To powiedziawszy Jezus wyszedł z uczniami swoimi przez potok Cedron, gdzie był ogród, do którego on wszedł i uczniowie jego.
Having said these things Jesus went out with His disciples across the Kidron ravine, where there was a garden, which He and His disciples entered.
2 A wiedział i Judasz, który go wydawał, ono miejsce; bo się tam często schadzał Jezus z uczniami swoimi.
Now Judas, the one betraying Him, also knew the place, because Jesus often met there with His disciples.
3 Przetoż Judasz wziąwszy rotę i sługi od przedniejszych kapłanów i Faryzeuszów, przyszedł tam z latarniami i z pochodniami, i z broniami.
So Judas, having received the detachment of soldiers and operatives from the chief priests and Pharisees, he arrives there with lanterns, torches and weapons.
4 Tedy Jezus wiedząc wszystko, co nań przyjść miało, wyszedłszy rzekł im: Kogo szukacie?
Then Jesus, knowing everything that was going to happen to Him, went forward and said to them, “Who are you looking for?”
5 Odpowiedzieli mu: Jezusa Nazareńskiego. Rzekł im Jezus: Jam jest. A stał z nimi i Judasz, który go wydawał.
They answered Him, “Jesus the Natsorean.” Jesus says to them, “I am he.” (Now Judas, His betrayer, was also standing with them.)
6 A skoro im rzekł: Jam jest, postąpili nazad i padli na ziemię.
So when He said to them, “I am he,” they went backward and fell to the ground!
7 Tedy ich zasię spytał: Kogo szukacie? A oni rzekli: Jezusa Nazareńskiego.
Then He asked them again, “Who are you looking for?” And they said, “Jesus the Natsorean.”
8 Odpowiedział Jezus: Powiedziałem wam, żem ja jest; jeźli tedy mię szukacie, dopuśćcież tym odejść;
Jesus answered: “I told you that I am he. So if it is me you are looking for, allow these men to go”
9 Aby się wypełniły słowa, które był powiedział: Nie straciłem żadnego z tych, któreś mi dał.
(so that the word that He spoke might be fulfilled, “Of those you have given me I did not lose even one”).
10 Tedy Szymon Piotr mając miecz, dobył go, i uderzył sługę kapłana najwyższego, i uciął mu ucho jego prawe; a temu słudze imię było Malchus.
Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it, struck the high priest's servant and cut off his right ear. (The servant's name was Malchus.)
11 I rzekł Jezus Piotrowi: Włóż miecz twój w pochwę; izali nie mam pić kielicha tego, który mi dał Ojciec?
So Jesus said to Peter: “Sheathe the sword! The cup that the Father has given me, must I not drink it?”
12 Rota tedy i rotmistrz, i słudzy żydowscy pojmali Jezusa i związali go.
Then the detachment, the commander and the operatives of the Jews arrested Jesus and bound Him.
13 I wiedli go naprzód do Annasza; bo był świekier Kaifaszowy, który był najwyższym kapłanem roku onego.
They took Him to Annas first, because he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year.
14 A Kaifasz ten był, który Żydom radził, że pożyteczno jest, aby jeden człowiek umarł za lud.
(Now Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jews that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.)
15 I szedł za Jezusem Szymon Piotr i drugi uczeń. A ten uczeń był znajomy najwyższemu kapłanowi, i wszedł z Jezusem do dworu najwyższego kapłana.
Now Simon Peter kept following Jesus, as also the other disciple. Well that disciple was known to the high priest, so he went into the high priest's courtyard with Jesus.
16 Ale Piotr stał u drzwi na dworze. Wyszedł tedy on drugi uczeń, który był znajomy najwyższemu kapłanowi, i mówił z odźwierną, i wprowadził tam Piotra.
But Peter was left standing outside by the door. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the doorkeeper (f), and brought Peter in.
17 Tedy rzekła Piotrowi dziewka odźwierna: Izaliś i ty nie jest z uczniów tego człowieka? On odpowiedział: Nie jestem.
So the servant girl, the doorkeeper, says to Peter, “You aren't one of this man's disciples too, are you?” He says, “I am not!”
18 Stali tedy słudzy i czeladź, uczyniwszy ogień, bo zimno było; i grzali się; był też z nimi Piotr, stojąc i grzejąc się.
Now the servants and operatives had made a charcoal fire, because it was cold, and they were standing there warming themselves. So Peter stood with them and warmed himself.
19 A tak najwyższy kapłan pytał Jezusa o jego uczniów i o naukę jego.
Then the high priest questioned Jesus about His disciples and about His teaching.
20 Odpowiedział mu Jezus: Jam jawnie mówił światu; Jam zawsze uczył w bóżnicy i w kościele, gdzie się zewsząd Żydowie schadzają, a potajemnie nicem nie mówił.
Jesus answered him: “I have spoken openly to the world. I always taught in synagogue and temple, where the Jews always congregate, and I have spoken nothing in secret.
21 Cóż mię pytasz? Pytaj tych, którzy słuchali, com im mówił; cić to wiedzą, com ja mówił.
Why do you question me? Question those who have heard what I spoke to them. Sure, they know what I said.”
22 A gdy on to mówił, jeden z sług, który tam stał, wyciął policzek Jezusowi, mówiąc: I także (to) odpowiadasz najwyższemu kapłanowi?
But upon His saying these things one of the operatives standing by slapped Jesus saying, “Is that how you answer the high priest?”
23 Odpowiedział mu Jezus: Izalim źle rzekł, daj świadectwo o złem, a jeźlim dobrze, przeczże mię bijesz?
Jesus answered him, “If I spoke wrongly, identify the wrong; but if rightly, why do you hit me?”
24 I odesłał go Annasz związanego do Kaifasza, najwyższego kapłana.
(Annas had sent Him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.)
25 A Szymon Piotr stał i grzał się. I rzekli do niego: Azażeś i ty nie jest z uczniów jego? A on się zaprzał, mówiąc: Nie jestem.
Well Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, “You aren't one of His disciples too, are you?” So he denied it and said, “I am not!”
26 Rzekł mu niektóry z sług kapłana najwyższego, powinowaty onego, któremu był Piotr uciął ucho: Izażem ja ciebie nie widział w ogrodzie z nimi?
One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of the one whose ear Peter had sliced, says, “Didn't I see you with Him in the garden?”
27 Zaprzał się zasię Piotr, a zarazem kur zapiał.
So Peter denied again, and immediately a rooster crowed.
28 Prowadzili tedy Jezusa od Kaifasza na ratusz, a było rano. I nie weszli sami na ratusz, aby się nie zmazali, ale iżby pożywali baranka wielkanocnego.
Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium, and it was early morning. They themselves did not enter the Praetorium, so that they would not be defiled but could eat the Passover.
29 Tedy wyszedł do nich Piłat, i rzekł: Jakąż skargę przynosicie przeciwko człowiekowi temu?
So Pilate went out to them and said, “What accusation do you bring against this man?”
30 Odpowiedzieli mu i rzekli: Być ten nie był złoczyńcą, tedybyśmy ci go nie podali.
In reply they said to him, “If he were not an evil-doer we would not have handed him over to you.”
31 I rzekł Piłat: Weźmijcież go wy, a według zakonu waszego osądźcie go. Rzekli mu Żydowie: Nam się nie godzi zabijać nikogo;
So Pilate said to them, “You take him and judge him according to your law.” So the Jews said to him, “We are not permitted to execute anyone.”
32 Aby się wypełniły słowa Jezusowe, które rzekł oznajmując, jaką miał śmiercią umrzeć.
(This was to fulfill the statement that Jesus made, indicating what sort of death He was about to die.)
33 Tedy zasię wszedł Piłat na ratusz i zawołał Jezusa i rzekł mu: Tyżeś jest król żydowski?
Then Pilate went back into the Praetorium, called Jesus and said to Him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
34 Odpowiedział mu Jezus: A samże to od siebie mówisz, czylić insi powiedzieli o mnie?
Jesus answered him, “Are you saying this on your own, or did others inform you about me?”
35 Odpowiedział Piłat: Azażem ja Żyd? Naród twój i przedniejsi kapłani podali mi cię; cóżeś wżdy uczynił?
Pilate answered Him: “I'm not a Jew, am I? Your own nation, that is, the chief priests handed you over to me. What have you done?”
36 Odpowiedział Jezus: Królestwo moje nie jest z tego świata; gdyby królestwo moje z tego świata było, wżdyć by mię słudzy moi bronili, abym nie był wydany Żydom; lecz teraz królestwo moje nie jest stąd.
Jesus answered: “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my subjects would fight so that I not be delivered to the Jews; but now my kingdom is not from here.”
37 Tedy mu rzekł Piłat: Toś ty przecię jest królem? Odpowiedział mu Jezus: Ty powiadasz, żem jest królem. Jam się na to narodził i na tom przyszedł na świat, abym świadectwo wydał prawdzie; wszelki, który jest z prawdy, słucha głosu mego.
So Pilate said to Him, “You are a king then?” Jesus answered: “As you say, I am a king; for this I was born. And for this I came into the world, to testify to the Truth. Everyone who is of the Truth hears my voice.”
38 Rzekł mu Piłat: Cóż jest prawda? A to rzekłszy, wyszedł zasię do Żydów i rzekł im: Ja w nim żadnej winy nie znajduję.
Pilate says to Him, “What is truth?” Upon saying this he went out to the Jews again and says to them: “I find no crime in him at all.
39 A też u was jest ten zwyczaj, abym wam jednego wypuścił na wielkanoc; chcecież tedy, abym wam wypuścił tego króla Żydowskiego?
Now we have a custom that I should release someone to you at the Passover; so do you want me to release the King of the Jews to you?”
40 Tedy zasię wszyscy zawołali, mówiąc: Nie tego, ale Barabbasza! A ten Barabbasz był zbójca.
Then they all cried out saying, “Not this fellow, but Barabbas!” Well, Barabbas was a bandit!
