Hioba 40
1 A tak odpowiedział Pan Ijobowi, i rzekł:
And Jehovah doth answer Job, and saith: —
2 Izali ten, co wiedzie spór z Wszechmogącym, uczyć go będzie? a kto chce strofować Boga, niech na to odpowie.
Is the striver with the Mighty instructed? The reprover of God, let him answer it.
3 Zatem odpowiedział Ijob Panu, i rzekł:
And Job answereth Jehovah, and saith: —
4 Otom ja lichy, cóż ci mam odpowiedzieć? Rękę moję włożę na usta moje.
Lo, I have been vile, What do I return to Thee? My hand I have placed on my mouth.
5 Mówiłem raz i drugi, ale więcej nie odpowiem, i nic więcej nie przydam.
Once I have spoken, and I answer not, And twice, and I add not.
6 Nadto odpowiedział Pan Ijobowi z wichru, i rzekł:
And Jehovah answereth Job out of the whirlwind, and saith: —
7 Przepasz teraz jako mąż biodra swe: będę cię pytał, a ty mi daj sprawę;
Gird, I pray thee, as a man, thy loins, I ask thee, and cause thou Me to know.
8 Izali wniwecz obrócisz sąd mój? a obwinisz mię, abyś się sam usprawiedliwił?
Dost thou also make void My judgment? Dost thou condemn Me, That thou mayest be righteous?
9 Izali masz ramię jako Bóg? a głosem zagrzmisz jako on?
And an arm like God hast thou? And with a voice like Him dost thou thunder?
10 Ozdóbże się teraz zacnością i dostojnością, a w chwałę i w ochędóstwo oblecz się.
Put on, I pray thee, excellency and loftiness, Yea, honour and beauty put on.
11 Rozpostrzyj popędliwość gniewu twego, a patrz na każdego pysznego, i poniż go.
Scatter abroad the wrath of thine anger, And see every proud one, and make him low.
12 Spojrzyjże na każdego hardego a skróć go, a zetrzyj niepobożnych na miejscu ich.
See every proud one — humble him, And tread down the wicked in their place.
13 Zakryj ich pospołu w prochu, a oblicza ich zawiąż w skrytości.
Hide them in the dust together, Their faces bind in secret.
14 Tedyć i Ja przyznam, że cię może zachować prawica twoja.
And even I — I do praise thee, For thy right hand giveth salvation to thee.
15 Oto teraz słoń, któregom uczynił jako i ciebie, trawę je jako wół.
Lo, I pray thee, Behemoth, that I made with thee: Grass as an ox he eateth.
16 Oto teraz moc jego jest w biodrach jego, a siła jego w pępku brzucha jego.
Lo, I pray thee, his power [is] in his loins, And his strength in the muscles of his belly.
17 Rusza ogonem swoim, jako chce, choć jest jako drzewo cedrowe; żyły łona jego są powikłane jako latorośli.
He doth bend his tail as a cedar, The sinews of his thighs are wrapped together,
18 Kości jego jako trąby miedziane; gnaty jego jako drąg żelazny.
His bones [are] tubes of brass, His bones [are] as a bar of iron.
19 On jest przedniejszym z uczynków Bożych; który go uczynił, sam nań natrzeć może mieczem swoim.
He [is] a beginning of the ways of God, His Maker bringeth nigh his sword;
20 Jemuć pastwę góry przynoszą, a wszystek zwierz polny tam igra.
For food do mountains bear for him, And all the beasts of the field play there.
21 Pod cienistem drzewem lega w skrytościach trzciny i błota.
Under shades he lieth down, In a secret place of reed and mire.
22 Okrywają go drzewa cieniste cieniem swoim, a ogarniają go wierzby nad potokami.
Cover him do shades, [with] their shadow, Cover him do willows of the brook.
23 Oto zatrzymuje strumień, że się nie spieszy; tuszy sobie, iż Jordan wypije gębą swoją.
Lo, a flood oppresseth — he doth not haste, He is confident though Jordan Doth come forth unto his mouth.
24 Azali go kto przed oczyma jego ułapi? albo powrozy przeciągnie przez nozdrze jego?
Before his eyes doth [one] take him, With snares doth [one] pierce the nose?
