Hioba 35

1 Nadto mówił Elihu, i rzekł:

Elihu spoke moreover, and said,

2 I mniemasz, żeś to z rozsądkiem rzekł: Sprawiedliwość moja przechodzi Boską?

Thinkest thou this to be right, [that] thou saidst, My righteousness [is] more than God's?

3 Boś powiedział: Cóż mi pomoże? a co wezmę za pożytek, choćbym nie grzeszył?

For thou saidst, What advantage will it be to thee? [and], What profit shall I have, [if I be cleansed] from my sin?

4 Ale ja tobie dowodnie odpowiem, i towarzyszom twoim z tobą.

I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.

5 Spojrzyj w niebo, a obacz; przypatrz się obłokom, jako są wyższe nad cię.

Look to the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds [which] are higher than thou.

6 Jeźli zgrzeszysz, cóż uczynisz przeciwko niemu? a jeźliby były rozmnożone nieprawości twoje, cóż mu uczynisz?

If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or [if] thy transgressions are multiplied, what doest thou to him?

7 Jeźlibyś był sprawiedliwym, cóż mu dasz? albo cóż weźmie z ręki twojej?

If thou art righteous, what givest thou to him? or what receiveth he from thy hand?

8 Człowiekowi podobnemu tobie niezbożność twoja zaszkodzi, a synowi człowieczemu pomoże sprawiedliwość twoja.

Thy wickedness [may hurt] a man as thou [art]: and thy righteousness [may profit] the son of man.

9 Z mnóstwa uciśnionych, którzy do tego przywiedzieni są; aby narzekali i wołali dla ramienia mocarzów,

By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make [the oppressed] to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.

10 Żaden nie mówi: Gdzież jest Bóg, stworzyciel mój, choć on daje śpiewanie i w nocy?

But none saith, Where [is] God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

11 Choć nas wyucza nad bydlęta ziemskie, a nad ptastwo niebieskie czyni nas mędrszymi.

Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?

12 Tedy wołająli dla hardości złych, on ich nie wysłuchuje.

There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.

13 Bo obłudy nie wysłucha Bóg, a Wszechmocny nie patrzy na nich.

Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.

14 Dopieroż nie wysłucha ciebie, ponieważ mówisz: Nie widzisz tego; osądźże się przed nim, a oczekuj go,

Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, [yet] judgment [is] before him; therefore trust thou in him.

15 Gdyż cię jedno trochę nawiedził gniew jego, jakoby nie wiedział wielkości grzechów twoich.

But now, because [it is] not [so], he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth [it] not in great extremity:

16 Przetoż Ijob próżno otwiera usta swe, a bez umiejętności rozmnaża słowa swoje.

Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
