Jeremiasza 14
1 Słowo Pańskie, które się stało do Jeremijasza o suszy.
The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought.
2 Ziemia Judzka płakać będzie, a bramy jej zemdleją, żałobę nosić będą na ziemi, a narzekanie Jeruzalemskie wstąpi w górę;
Judah mourneth, and her gates languish; they lie grieved on the ground; and the distressed cry of Jerusalem ascendeth upward.
3 I zacniejsi z nich rozsyłać będą najpodlejszych swoich po wodę; a przyszedłszy do cystern, i nie znalazłszy wody, nawrócą się z naczyniem swojem próżnem, zapłonąwszy i zawstydziwszy się; przetoż nakryją głowę swoję.
And their nobles have sent out their subordinates for water: they come to the pits, they find no water; they return with their vessels empty; they are ashamed and confounded, and cover their head.
4 Dla ziemi upragnionej, przeto, że deszczu nie będzie na ziemi, i oracze wstydząc się nakryją głowy swoje.
Because of the ground which is cracked open, since there hath been no rain in the land, are the ploughmen ashamed, they cover their head.
5 Owszem i łani, co na polu porodziła, opuści; bo na polu trawy nie będzie.
Yea, the hind also bringeth forth her young in the field, and forsaketh [them], because there is no grass.
6 A osły dzikie, stając na wysokich miejscach, chwytać będą wiatr jako smoki; ustaną oczy ich, bo nie będzie trawy.
And the wild asses stand on the mountain-tops, they snuff up the wind like serpents: their eyes fail, because there are no herbs.
7 O Panie! ponieważ nieprawości nasze świadczą przeciwko nam, zmiłuj się dla imienia twego; boć wielkie są odwrócenia nasze, tobieśmy zgrzeszyli.
If our iniquities testify against us, O Lord, do thou act for the sake of thy name; for our backslidings are many; against thee have we sinned.
8 O nadzejo Izraelowa, wybawicielu jego czasu utrapienia! czemuż masz być jako przychodzień w tej ziemi, a jako podróżny wstępujący na nocleg?
O thou hope of Israel, his saviour in time of trouble, why shouldst thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a wayfarer that turneth aside to lodge for a night?
9 Czemuż się pokazujesz jako mąż strudzony, albo jako mocarz, który nie może wybawić? Wszakeś ty jest w pośrodku nas, Panie! a imię twoje wzywane jest nad nami; nie opuszczajże nas.
Why shouldst thou be as a man that is surprised, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou art in the midst of us, O Lord, and we are called by thy name: abandon us not.
10 Tak mówi Pan o tym ludu: Iż tak miłują tułanie, a nóg swych nie powściągają, przetoż się Panu nie podobają, i teraz wspomina nieprawości ich, a nawiedza grzechy ich.
Thus hath said the Lord unto this people, Thus have they loved to wander about, their feet have they not restrained: therefore the Lord doth not receive them in favor; now will he remember their iniquity, and will punish their sins.
11 Potem rzekł Pan do mnie: Nie módl się za tym ludem.
Then said the Lord unto me, Pray not in behalf of this people for their good.
12 Gdy pościć będą, Ja nie wysłucham wołania ich; a gdy ofiarować będą całopalenie, i ofiarę śniedną, Ja tego nie przyjmę; ale mieczem, i głodem, i morem wytracę ich.
When they fast, I will not hear their entreaty: and when they offer burnt-offering and meat-offering, I will not receive them in favor; but by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence, will I make an end of them.
13 I rzekłem: Ach, panujący Panie! oto im ci prorocy mówią: Nie oglądacie miecza, a głód nie przyjdzie na was, ale pokój pewny dam wam na tem miejscu.
Then said I, Ah, Lord Eternal! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but a permanent peace will I give you in this place.
14 I rzekł Pan do mnie: Fałsz prorokują ci prorocy w imieniu mojem; nie posłałem ich, anim im rozkazał, owszem, anim mówił do nich; widzenie kłamliwe, i wieszczbę, i marność, i kłamstwo serca swego oni wam prorokują.
Then said the Lord unto me, Falsehood do the prophets prophesy in my name; I have not sent them, neither have I commanded them, neither have I spoken unto them: a vision of falsehood, and divination, and idolatrous folly, and the deceit of their heart do they prophesy unto you.
15 Przetoż tak mówi Pan o prorokach, którzy prorokują w imieniu mojem, chociażem Ja ich nie posłał, i którzy mówią: Miecza ani głodu nie będzie w tej ziemi; ci sami prorocy mieczem i głodem zginą.
Therefore thus hath said the Lord concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, when I have not sent them, while they say, Sword and famine shall not come in this land: By the sword and by the famine shall these prophets come to their end.
16 A lud ten, któremu oni prorokują, rozrzucony będzie po ulicach Jeruzalemskich od głodu i od miecza, a nie będzie, ktoby ich pogrzebał, onych samych, żony ich, i synów ich, i córki ich; tak wyleję na nich złość ich.
And the people to whom they prophesy shall lie cast down in the streets of Jerusalem by means of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters; for I will pour out their wickedness over them.
17 Przetoż rzeczesz do nich to słowo: Oczy moje wylewają łzy w nocy i we dnie bez przestanku; bo skruszeniem wielkiem skruszona będzie panna, córka ludu mojego, i raną bardzo bolesną.
But thou shalt say unto them this word. My eyes shall run down with tears night and day, and they shall not cease; for with a great breach is the virgin-daughter of my people broken, with a very painful blow.
18 Wyjdęli na pole, oto tam pomordowani mieczem; wyjdęli do miasta, oto i tam zmorzeni głodem; bo jako prorok tak i kapłan obchodząc kupczą ziemią, a ludzie tego nie baczą.
If I go forth into the field, behold, there are the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, behold, there are those that are sick with famine! for both the prophet and the priest travel round into a land that they know not.
19 Izali do końca odrzucasz Judę? Izali Syon obrzydziła sobie dusza twoja? Przecz nas bijesz, tak abyśmy już nie byli uzdrowieni? Oczekujemyli na pokój, alić oto następuje nic dobrego; a jeźli na czas uleczenia, a oto zatrwożenie.
Hast thou entirely rejected Judah? or hath thy soul loathing on Zion? why hast thou smitten us, so that there is no healing for us? we hoped for peace, and there is no good; and for the time of healing, and behold, there is terror!
20 Uznajemy, Panie! niezbożność swoję, i nieprawość ojców naszych, iżeśmy zgrzeszyli przeciw tobie.
We know, O Lord, our wickedness, the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against thee.
21 Nie odrzucajże nas dla imienia twego, nie podawajże w lekkość stolicy chwały twojej; wspomnijże, nie targaj przymierza twego z nami.
Do not cast us off, for the sake of thy name, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.
22 Izali są między marnościami pogańskiemi, coby spuszczali deszcz? albo niebiosa mogąli same przez się dawać deszcze? Izaliś nie ty sam Pan, Bóg nasz? Przetoż oczekujemy na cię; bo to wszystko ty czynisz.
Are there any among the vanities of the nations those that bestow rain? or can the heavens give forth showers? Behold, thou art this, O Lord our God, and we will hope in thee; for thou hast done all these things.
