1 Rozkazał tedy Józef temu, który był sprawcą domu jego, mówiąc: Napełnij wory mężów tych zbożem, jako mogą znieść, a włóż pieniądze każdego na wierzch woru jego.

And he commaunded the rueler of his house saynge: fyll the mens sackes with food as moch as they can carie

2 Kubek też mój, kubek srebrny, włóż na wierzch woru młodszego z pieniędzmi za zboże jego; i uczynił według słów Józefowych, jako mu rozkazał.

and put euery mans money in his bagge mouth and put my syluer cuppe in the sackes mouth of the yongest and his corne money also. And he dyd as Ioseph had sayde.

3 A gdy było rano, mężowie oni puszczeni są, sami i osłowie ich.

And in ye mornynge as soone as it was lighte the me were let goo with their asses.

4 Wyszedłszy tedy z miasta, gdy nie daleko byli, rzekł Józef do tego, który był sprawcą domu jego: Wstań, goń te męże, a dogoniwszy ich, mów do nich: Czemuście oddali złe za dobre?

And when they were out of the cytie and not yet ferre awaye Ioseph sayde vnto the ruelar of his house: vp and folowe after the men and ouertake them and saye vnto them: wherefore haue ye rewarded euell for good?

5 Azaż nie ten jest kubek, z którego pija pan mój? i azaż on pewnie nie zgadnie przezeń, jacyście wy? źleście uczynili, coście uczynili.

is that not the cuppe of which my lorde drynketh ad doth he not prophesie therin? ye haue euell done that ye haue done.

6 Dogoniwszy ich tedy, mówił do nich te słowa.

And he ouertoke them and sayde the same wordes vnto them.

7 Ale oni odpowiedzieli mu: Czemu mówi pan mój takowe słowa? nie daj tego Boże, aby to słudzy twoi uczynić mieli.

And they answered him: wherfore sayth my lorde soch wordes? God forbydd that thy servauntes shulde doo so.

8 Oto pieniądze, któreśmy byli znaleźli na wierzchu worów naszych, odnieśliśmy zaś do ciebie z ziemi Chananejskiej; a jakoż byśmy kraść mieli z domu pana twego srebro albo złoto?

Beholde the money which we founde in oure sackes mouthes we brought agayne vnto the out of the lande of Canaa: how then shulde we steale out of my lordes house ether syluer or golde?

9 U którego by to znaleziono z sług twoich, niechaj umrze; a my będziemy pana mego niewolnikami.

with whosoeuer of thy seruauntes it be founde let him dye and let vs also be my lordes bondmen.

10 Tedy on rzekł: Niechże tak będzie, jako mówicie; jednak przy którym się znajdzie kubek, ten niech będzie niewolnikiem, a wy będziecie niewinnymi.

And he sayde: Now therfore acordynge vnto youre woordes he with whom it is found shalbe my seruaunte: but ye shalbe harmelesse.

11 Prędko tedy każdy złożył wór swój na ziemię; i rozwiązali każdy wór swój.

And attonce euery man toke downe his sacke to the grounde ad every man opened his sacke.

12 I szukał od starszego począwszy; a u młodszego przestał; i znalazł kubek w worze Benjaminowym.

And he serched and began at the eldest and left at the yongest. And the cuppe was founde in Ben Iamins sacke.

13 Tedy oni rozdarli szaty swoje, i włożywszy brzemię każdy z nich na osła swego, wrócili się do miasta.

Then they rent their clothes and laded euery man his asse and went agayne vnto the cytie.

14 Przyszedł tedy Judas, i bracia jego do domu Józefa, który tam jeszcze był, i upadli przed obliczem jego na ziemię.

And Iuda and his brethre came to Iosephs house for he was yet there ad they fell before him on the grounde.

15 I rzekł do nich Józef: Cóżeście to uczynili? azaście nie wiedzieli, że pewnie zgadnie mąż taki, jakim ja jest?

And Ioseph sayde vnto the: what dede is this which ye haue done? wist ye not that soch a man as I can prophesie?

16 Tedy odpowiedział Judas: Cóż odpowiemy panu memu, cóż rzeczemy? i jako się my usprawiedliwić mamy? Bóg znalazł nieprawość sług twoich; otośmy niewolnikami pana mego, i my, i ten, w którego ręku znaleziony jest kubek.

Then sayde Iuda: what shall we saye vnto my lorde what shall we speake or what excuse can we make? God hath founde out ye wekednesse of thy seruauntes. Beholde both we and he with whom the cuppe is founde are thy seruauntes.

17 A on rzekł: Nie daj Boże, abym to uczynić miał! mąż, w którego ręku znaleziony jest kubek, ten będzie niewolnikiem moim; a wy jedźcie w pokoju do ojca waszego.

And he answered: God forbyd ye I shulde do so the man with whom the cuppe is founde he shalbe my seruaunte: but goo ye in peace vn to youre father.

18 Zatem przystąpił do niego Judas i rzekł: Słuchaj mię panie mój; niechaj przemówi proszę sługa twój które słowo w uszy pana mego, a niech się nie zapala gniew twój na sługę twego, gdyżeś ty jest jako sam Farao.

Then Iuda went vnto him and sayde: oh my lorde let thy servaunte speake a worde in my lordes audyence and be not wrooth with thi servaunte: for thou art euen as Pharao.

19 Pan mój pytał sług swoich mówiąc: Macież ojca albo brata?

My lorde axed his seruaunte sainge: haue ye a father or a brother?

20 Tedyśmy odpowiedzieli panu swemu: Mamyć ojca starego, i chłopię w starości jego spłodzone małe, a brat jego umarł, a został sam tylko po matce swej, i ojciec jego miłuje go.

And we answered my lord we haue a father that is old and a yonge lad which he begat in his age: ad the brother of the sayde lad is dead and he is all that is left of that mother. And his father loueth him.

21 Potem mówiłeś do nas sług swoich: Przywiedźcie go do mnie, abym go oglądał oczyma memi:

Then sayde my lorde vnto his seruauntes brynge him vnto me that I maye sett myne eyes apon him.

22 I mówiliśmy do pana mego: Nie będzie mogło chłopię opuścić ojca swego; bo gdyby opuściło ojca swego, umarłby.

And we answered my lorde that the lad coude not goo from his father for if he shulde leaue his father he were but a deed man.

23 Tedyś rzekł do sług swoich: Jeźli nie przyjdzie brat wasz młodszy z wami, nie ujrzycie więcej oblicza mojego.

Than saydest thou vnto thy servauntes: excepte youre yongest brother come with you loke that ye se my face no moare.

24 I stało się, gdyśmy odeszli do sługi twego, ojca mojego, i powiedzieliśmy mu te słowa pana mego:

And when we came vnto thy servaunt oure father we shewed him what my lorde had sayde.

25 Tedy rzekł ojciec nasz: Jedźcie znowu, a kupcie nam trochę żywności.

And when oure father sayde vnto vs goo agayne and bye vs a litle fode:

26 I powiedzieliśmy: Nie możemy tam iść: lecz jeźli brat nasz młodszy będzie z nami, tedy pojedziemy; bo inaczej nie będziemy mogli oglądać oblicza męża onego, jeźli brat nasz młodszy nie będzie z nami.

we sayd yt we coude not goo. Neverthelesse if oure youngeste brother go with vs then will we goo for we maye not see the mannes face excepte oure yongest brother be with vs.

27 I rzekł sługa twój, ojciec mój, do nas: Wy wiecie, że dwóch synów urodziła mi żona moja;

Then sayde thy servaunt oure father vnto vs. Ye knowe that my wyfe bare me. ij. sonnes.

28 I wyszedł jeden ode mnie, i rzekłem: Zaiste od zwierza rozdarty jest, i nie widziałem go do tych miast;

And the one went out from me and it is sayde of a suertie that he is torne in peaces of wyld beastes and I sawe him not sence.

29 A weźmiecieli i tego od oblicza mego, a przypadnie nań śmierć, tedy doprowadzicie sędziwość moję z żałością do grobu. (Sheol h7585)

Yf ye shall take this also awaye fro me and some mysfortune happen apon him then shall ye brynge my gray heed with sorow vnto the grave. (Sheol h7585)

30 Przetoż teraz jeślibym przyszedł do sługi twego, ojca mojego, a dziecięcia by z nami nie było, (ponieważ dusza jego jest przywiązana do duszy jego),

Now therfore whe I come to thy servaunt my father yf the lad be not with me: seinge that his lyfe hageth by the laddes lyfe

31 Stanie się, skoro ujrzy, iż dziecięcia nie będzie, że umrze; a odprowadzą słudzy twoi sędziwość sługi twego, ojca naszego, z żałością do grobu. (Sheol h7585)

then as soone as he seeth that the lad is not come he will dye. So shall we thy servautes brynge the gray hedde of thy servaunt oure father with sorow vnto the grave. (Sheol h7585)

32 Bo sługa twój przyrzekł za to dziecię, gdy je brał od ojca swego, mówiąc: Jeźlić go zaś nie przywiodę, tedy będę winien grzechu przeciw ojcu memu po wszystkie dni.

For I thy servaunt became suertie for the lad vnto my father and sayde: yf I bringe him not vnto the agayne. I will bere the blame all my life loge.

33 Teraz tedy niech zostanie proszę sługa twój miasto dziecięcia tego niewolnikiem pana mego, a dziecię niech idzie z bracią swoją.

Now therfore let me thy servaunt byde here for ye lad and be my lordes bondman: and let the lad goo home with his brethern.

34 Bo jakoż ja mam wrócić się do ojca mego, gdy tego dziecięcia ze mną nie będzie? chybabym chciał patrzyć na żałość, która by przyszła na ojca mego.

For how can I goo vnto my father and the lad not wyth me: lest I shulde see the wretchednes that shall come on my father.
