Rodzaju 38

1 I stało się czasu onego, że Judas odszedł od braci swej, i wstąpił do niektórego męża Odolamickiego, którego imię było Chyra.

And at that time Iudah went downe from his brethren, and turned in to a man called Hirah an Adullamite.

2 I ujrzał tam Judas córkę męża Chananejskiego, którego zwano Sua; a pojąwszy ją, wszedł do niej.

And Iudah sawe there the daughter of a man called Suah a Canaanite: and he tooke her to wife, and went in vnto her.

3 A ona począwszy porodziła syna, i nazwała imię jego Her.

So she conceiued and bare a sonne, and he called his name Er.

4 Zasię począwszy porodziła syna, i nazwała imię jego Onan.

And she conceiued againe, and bare a sonne, and she called his name Onan.

5 Nad to jeszcze urodziła syna, i nazwała imię jego Sela; a Judas był w Chezybie, gdy mu urodziła.

Moreouer she bare yet a sonne, whome she called Shelah: and Iudah was at Chezib when she bare him.

6 I dał Judas żonę Herowi pierworodnemu swemu, której imię było Tamar.

Then Iudah tooke a wife to Er his first borne sonne whose name was Tamar.

7 I był Her, pierworodny Judasów, zły w oczach Pańskich, i zabił go Pan.

Now Er the first borne of Iudah was wicked in the sight of the Lord: therefore the Lord slewe him.

8 Tedy rzekł Judas do Onana: Wnijdź do żony brata twego, a złącz się z nią prawem powinowactwa, i wzbudź nasienie bratu twemu.

Then Iudah said to Onan, Goe in vnto thy brothers wife, and do the office of a kinsman vnto her, and raise vp seede vnto thy brother.

9 Lecz wiedząc Onan, iż to potomstwo nie jemu być miało, gdy wchodził do żony brata swego, tracił z siebie nasienie na ziemię, aby nie wzbudził potomstwa bratu swemu.

And Onan knewe that the seede should not be his: therefore when he went in vnto his brothers wife, he spilled it on the grounde, least he should giue seede vnto his brother.

10 I nie podobało się to Panu, co Onan czynił; przeto go też Pan zabił.

And it was wicked in the eyes of the Lord, which he did: wherefore he slewe him also.

11 Zatem rzekł Judas do Tamary, niewiasty swej: Mieszkaj wdową w domu ojca twego, aż urośnie Sela, syn mój, bo rzekł: By on też snać nie umarł jako bracia jego. I odeszła Tamar, i mieszkała w domu ojca swego.

Then said Iudah to Tamar his daughter in lawe, Remaine a widowe in thy fathers house, till Shelah my sonne growe vp (for he thought thus, Least he die as well as his brethren.) So Tamar went and dwelt in her fathers house.

12 A gdy minęło wiele dni, umarła córka Suego, żona Judasowa; i pocieszywszy się Judas, szedł do tych, co strzygli owce jego, sam i Chyra, towarzysz jego, Odolamita, do Timnat.

And in processe of time also the daughter of Shuah Iudahs wife dyed. Then Iudah, when he had left mourning, went vp to his sheepe sherers to Timnah, he, and his neighbour Hirah the Adullamite.

13 I oznajmiono to Tamarze, mówiąc: Oto, świeker twój idzie do Timnat, aby strzygł owce swoje.

And it was tolde Tamar, saying, beholde, thy father in lawe goeth vp to Timnah, to shere his sheepe.

14 Która złożywszy z siebie szaty wdowieństwa swego, okryła się rąbkiem, i zatknęła się, i usiadła na rozstaniu drogi, która wiedzie do Timnat; bo widziała, że był urósł Sela, a ona nie była mu dana za żonę.

Then she put her widowes garments off from her, and couered her with a vaile, and wrapped her selfe, and sate downe in Pethah-enaim, which is by the way to Timnah, because she sawe that Shelah was growen, and she was not giuen vnto him to wife.

15 A ujrzawszy ją Judas, mniemał, że to nierządnica, bo zakryła była twarz swoję.

When Iudah sawe her, he iudged her an whore: for she had couered her face.

16 Tedy ustąpiwszy do niej z drogi, mówił: Proszę niech wnijdę do ciebie; albowiem nie wiedział, żeby jego synowa była. I rzekła: Cóż mi dasz, żebyś do mnie wszedł?

And he turned to the way towardes her, and saide, Come, I pray thee, let me lie with thee. (for he knewe not that she was his daughter in lawe) And she answered, What wilt thou giue me for to lie with me?

17 I odpowiedział: Poślęć koźlątko z trzody; a ona rzekła: Daszże mi zastaw, aż mi je przyślesz?

Then said he, I will sende thee a kid of the goates from the flocke. and she said, Well, if thou wilt giue me a pledge, till thou sende it.

18 I rzekł: Cóż ci mam dać w zastaw? A ona odpowiedziała: Pierścień twój, i chustkę twoję, i laskę twoję, którą masz w ręce swej. Tedy jej dał, i wszedł do niej; a poczęła z niego.

Then he saide, What is the pledge that I shall giue thee? And she answered, Thy signet, and thy cloke, and thy staffe that is in thine hande. So he gaue it her, and lay by her, and she was with childe by him.

19 A wstawszy odeszła, i złożywszy z siebie odzienie swoje, oblekła się w szaty wdowieństwa swego.

Then she rose, and went and put her vaile from her and put on her widowes raiment.

20 Potem posłał Judas koźlątko, przez rękę towarzysza swego Odolamitę, aby odebrał zastawę z ręki niewiasty onej; ale jej nie znalazł.

Afterwarde Iudah sent a kid of the goates by the hande of his neighbour the Adullamite, for to receiue his pledge from the womans hand: but he found her not.

21 I pytał mężów miejsca onego, mówiąc: Gdzie jest nierządnica ona, która była na rozstaniu tej drogi? Którzy odpowiedzieli: Nie było tu nierządnicy.

Then asked he the men of that place, saying, Where is ye whore, that sate in Enaim by the way side? And they answered, There was no whore here.

22 Wrócił się tedy do Judasa, i rzekł: Nie znalazłem jej; lecz i mężowie miejsca onego powiedzieli: Nie było tu żadnej nierządnicy.

He came therefore to Iudah againe, and said, I can not finde her, and also the men of the place said, There was no whore there.

23 Tedy rzekł Judas: Niechże sobie ma ten zakład, abyśmy nie byli na wzgardę; otom posyłał to koźlątko, a tyś jej nie znalazł.

Then Iudah said, Let her take it to her, lest we be shamed: beholde, I sent this kid, and thou hast not found her.

24 I stało się, jakoby po trzech miesiącach, powiedziano Judzie, mówiąc: Dopuściła się nierządu Tamar, synowa twoja, a oto, już brzemienna jest z nierządu. Tedy rzekł Judas: Wywiedźcie ją, aby była spalona.

Now after three moneths, one tolde Iudah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the whore, and lo, with playing the whore, she is great with childe. Then Iudah saide, Bring ye her foorth and let her be burnt.

25 A gdy była wywiedziona, posłała do świekra swego, mówiąc: Z męża, którego te rzeczy są, jestem brzemienna. Przy tem powiedziała: Poznaj proszę, czyj to pierścień, i chustka, i laska?

When she was brought foorth, she sent to her father in law, saying, By the man, vnto whom these things pertaine, am I with childe: and saide also, Looke, I pray thee, whose these are, the seale, and the cloke, and the staffe.

26 Tedy poznawszy to Judas rzekł: Sprawiedliwsza jest nad mię, ponieważem jej nie dał Seli, synowi memu; i więcej jej nie uznał.

Then Iudah knewe them, and said, She is more righteous then I: for she hath done it because I gaue her not to Shelah my sonne. So he lay with her no more.

27 I stało się, gdy przyszedł czas rodzenia jej, oto bliźnięta były w żywocie jej.

Now, when the time was come that she should be deliuered, beholde, there were twinnes in her wombe.

28 A gdy rodziła, wytknęło rękę jedno dziecię, którą ująwszy baba, uwiązała u ręki nić czerwoną mówiąc: Ten pierwej wynijdzie.

And when she was in trauell, the one put out his hand: and the midwife tooke and bound a red threde about his hand, saying, This is come out first.

29 I stało się, gdy zasię wciągnęło rękę swoję, oto, wyszedł brat jego; i rzekła: Czemuś przerwał? na tobie niech będzie rozerwanie; i nazwała imię jego Fares.

But when he plucked his hand backe againe, loe, his brother came out, and the midwife said, How hast thou broken the breach vpon thee? and his name was called Pharez.

30 A potem wyszedł brat jego, na którego ręce była nić czerwona; i nazwała imię jego Zera.

And afterward came out his brother that had the red threde about his hande, and his name was called Zarah.
