1 A żyła Sara sto lat, i dwadzieścia lat, i siedem lat; te są lata żywota Sary.
And the life of Sarrha was an hundred and twenty-seven years.
2 I umarła Sara w mieście Arba, które zowią Hebron, w ziemi Chananejskiej: i przyszedł Abraham, aby żałował Sary, i płakał jej.
And Sarrha died in the city of Arboc, which is in the valley, this is Chebron in the land of Chanaan; and Abraam came to lament for Sarrha and to mourn.
3 Potem wstał Abraham od umarłego swego, i rzekł do synów Hetowych, mówiąc:
And Abraam stood up from before his dead; and Abraam spoke to the sons of Chet, saying,
4 Gościem i przychodniem jestem u was; dajcież mi osiadłość grobu między wami, abym pogrzebał umarłego mego od twarzy mojej.
I am a sojourner and a stranger amongst you, give me therefore possession of a burying-place amongst you, and I will bury my dead away from me.
5 Tedy opowiedzieli synowie Hetowi Abrahamowi, mówiąc mu:
And the sons of Chet answered to Abraam, saying, Not so, Sir,
6 Słuchaj nas, panie mój: Książęciem Bożym jesteś ty w pośrodku nas: w najprzedniejszych grobach naszych pogrzeb umarłego twego; żaden z nas nie będzie bronił grobu swego tobie, abyś nie miał pogrzebać umarłego twego.
but hear us; you are in the midst of us a king from God; bury your dead in our choice sepulchres, for not one of us will by any means withhold his sepulchre from you, so that you should not bury your dead there.
7 Tedy wstawszy Abraham, pokłonił się ludowi onej ziemi, to jest synom Hetowym, i rzekł do nich, mówiąc:
And Abraam rose up and did obeisance to the people of the land, to the sons of Chet.
8 Jeźli się wam podoba, abym pogrzebał umarłego mego od twarzy mojej, słuchajcież mię, a przyczyńcie się za mną, do Efrona, syna Socharowego,
And Abraam spoke to them, saying, If you have it in your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight, listen to me, and speak for me to Ephron the son Saar.
9 Aby mi ustąpił jaskini swojej Machpela, którą ma na końcu pola swego, za słuszne pieniądze; niech mi ją spuści przed wami w osiadłość grobu.
And let him give me the double cave which he has, which is in a part of his field, let him give it me for the money it is worth for possession of a burying-place amongst you.
10 ( A Efron siedział w pośrodku synów Hetowych. ) Tedy odpowiedział Efron Hetejczyk Abrahamowi, w przytomności synów Hetowych, przed wszystkimi, którzy chodzili w bramę miasta jego, mówiąc:
Now Ephron was sitting in the midst of the children of Chet, and Ephron the Chettite answered Abraam and spoke in the hearing of the sons of Chet, and of all who entered the city, saying,
11 Nie tak, panie mój, ale słuchaj mię: Pole to dam tobie i jaskinią, która jest w niem, dawam ją tobie; przed oczyma synów ludu mego, dawam ją tobie, pogrzebże umarłego twego.
Attend to me, my lord, and hear me, I give to you the field and the cave which is in it; I have given it you before all my country men; bury your dead.
12 Tedy się pokłonił Abraham przed ludem onej ziemi;
And Abraam did obeisance before the people of the land.
13 I rzekł do Efrona, w przytomności ludu onej ziemi, mówiąc: Raczej, jeźlić się zda, proszę, słuchaj mię: dam ci pieniądze za pole, weźmijże je ode mnie, a pogrzebię tam umarłego mego.
And he said in the ears of Ephron before the people of the land, Since you are on my side, hear me; take the price of the field from me, and I will bury my dead there.
14 I odpowiedział Efron Abrahamowi mówiąc mu:
But Ephron answered Abraam, saying,
15 Panie mój, słuchaj mię. Ziemia ta stoi za cztery sta syklów srebra; ale cóż to jest między mną i między tobą? pogrzeb umarłego twego.
Nay, my lord, I have heard indeed, the land [is worth] four hundred silver didrachmas, but what can this be between me and you? nay, do you bury your dead.
16 I usłuchał Abraham Efrona; i odważył Abraham Efronowi srebro, jako był rzekł w przytomności synów Hetowych, cztery sta syklów srebra, tak jako szły między kupcami.
And Abraam listened to Ephron, and Abraam rendered to Ephron the money, which he mentioned in the ears of the sons of Chet, four hundred didrachmas of silver approved with merchants.

After this Abraam buried Sarrha his wife in the Double Cave of the field, which is opposite Mambre, this is Chebron in the land of Chanaan.
20 I oddane jest pole i jaskinia, która była na niem, Abrahamowi w osiadłość grobu, od synów Hetowych.
So the field and the cave which was in it were made sure to Abraam for possession of a burying place, by the sons of Chet.
