II Kronik 17
1 Tedy królował Jozafat, syn jego miasto niego, a zmocnił się przeciw Izraelowi.
And his son Jehoshaphat reigns in his stead, and he strengthens himself against Israel,
2 I osadził żołnierzem wszystkie miasta Judzkie obronne; osadził też i ziemię Judzką, także miasta Efraimskie, które był pobrał Aza, ojciec jego.
and puts a force in all the fortified cities of Judah, and puts garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that his father Asa had captured.
3 A był Pan z Jozafatem, przeto, iż chodził drogami pierwszemi Dawida, ojca swego, a nie szukał Baalów;
And YHWH is with Jehoshaphat, for he has walked in the first ways of his father David, and has not sought for the Ba‘alim,
4 Ale Boga ojca swego szukał, i w przykazaniach jego chodził, a nie według spraw ludu Izraelskiego.
for he has sought for the God of his father, and he has walked in His commands, and not according to the work of Israel.
5 I utwierdził Pan królestwo w ręce jego; a dawał wszystek lud Judzki dary Jozafatowi, tak iż miał bogactwa, i sławę bardzo wielką.
And YHWH establishes the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah gives a present to Jehoshaphat, and he has riches and honor in abundance,
6 A nabywszy wielkiego serca na drogach Pańskich, tem więcej znosił wyżyny i gaje bałwochwalcze z ziemi Judzkiej.
and his heart is high in the ways of YHWH, and again he has turned aside the high places and the Asherim out of Judah.
7 Potem roku trzeciego królowania swego posłał książąt swoich, Benchaila, i Obadyjasza, i Zacharyjasza, i Natanaela, i Micheasza, aby uczyli w miastach Judzkich.
And in the third year of his reign he has sent for his heads, for Ben-Hail, and for Obadiah, and for Zechariah, and for Nethaneel, and for Michaiah, to teach in cities of Judah;
8 A przy nich Lewitów, Semejasza, i Natanijasza, i Zabadyjasza, i Asaela i Semiramota, i Jonatana, i Adonijasza, i Tobijasza, i Tobadonijasza, Lewitów; a z nimi Elisama, i Jorama, kapłanów;
and with them the Levites: Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijath, and Tob-Adonijah—the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
9 Którzy uczyli w Judzie, mając z sobą księgi zakonu Pańskiego, i obchodzili wszystkie miasta Judzkie, i nauczali lud.
And they teach in Judah, and the Scroll of the Law of YHWH [is] with them, and they go around into all cities of Judah, and teach among the people.
10 Przetoż przyszedł strach Pański na wszystkie królestwa ziemi, które były około Judy, i nie śmieli walczyć przeciw Jozafatowi.
And there is a fear of YHWH on all kingdoms of the lands that [are] around Judah, and they have not fought with Jehoshaphat;
11 Nawet i Filistynowie przynosili Jozafatowi dary i dań pieniężną. Arabczycy też przygnali mu drobnego bydła, baranów siedm tysięcy i siedm set, kozłów także siedm tysięcy i siedm set.
and [some] from the Philistines are bringing a present to Jehoshaphat, and silver [as] tribute; also, the Arabians are bringing to him a flock of seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred male goats.
12 Wzmagał się tedy Jozafat, i rosł nader bardzo, i pobudował w Judzie zamki, i miasta dla składów.
And Jehoshaphat is going on and becoming very great, and he builds palaces and cities of store in Judah,
13 A pracy wiele podjął około miast Judzkich; mężów też walecznych i potężnych miał w Jeruzalemie.
and he has much work in cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty men of valor, [are] in Jerusalem.
14 A tać jest liczba ich według domów ojców ich: z Judy książęta nad tysiącami: książę Adna, a z nim bardzo dużych mężów trzy kroć sto tysięcy.
And these [are] their numbers, for the house of their fathers—of Judah, heads of thousands: Adnah the head, and with him three hundred thousand mighty men of valor;
15 A po nim książę Johanan, a z nim dwa kroć sto tysięcy, i ośmdziesiąt tysięcy.
and at his hand [is] Jehohanan the head, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand;
16 A po nim Amazyjasz, syn Zychry, który się był dobrowolnie oddał Panu, a z nim dwa kroć sto tysięcy mężów dużych.
and at his hand [is] Amasiah son of Zichri, who is willingly offering himself to YHWH, and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.
17 Przytem z synów Benjaminowych, mąż duży Elijada, a z nim ludu zbrojnego z łukami i z tarczami dwa kroć sto tysięcy.
And of Benjamin, mighty men of valor: Eliada, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and shield;
18 A po nim Jozabad, a z nim sto i ośmdziesięt tysięcy gotowych do boju.
and at his hand [is] Jehozabad, and with him one hundred and eighty thousand armed ones of the host.
19 Ci służyli królowi, oprócz tych, którymi był król osadził miasta obronne po wszystkiej ziemi Judzkiej.
These [are] those serving the king, apart from those whom the king put in the fortress cities in all of Judah.
