I Tymoteusza 5
1 Starszemu nie łaj, ale jako ojca napominaj, młodszych jako braci,
Rebuke not an Elder, but exhort him as a father, and the yonger men as brethren,
2 Starsze niewiasty jako matki, młodsze jako siostry, ze wszelaką czystością.
The elder women as mothers, the yonger as sisters, with all purenesse.
3 Wdowy miej w uczciwości, które prawdziwie są wdowami.
Honour widowes, which are widowes in deede.
4 A jeźli która wdowa dzieci albo wnuczęta ma, niech się uczą pierwej przeciwko domowi własnemu być pobożnemi i wzajem oddawać rodzicom; albowiem to jest rzecz chwalebna i przyjemna przed obliczem Bożem.
But if any widowe haue children or nephewes, let them learne first to shewe godlinesse towarde their owne house, and to recompense their kinred: for that is an honest thing and acceptable before God.
5 A która jest prawdziwie wdowa i osierociała, ma nadzieję w Bogu i trwa w prośbach i w modlitwach w nocy i we dnie.
And shee that is a widowe in deede and left alone, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and praiers night and day.
6 Ale która w rozkoszach żyje, ta żyjąc umarłą jest.
But shee that liueth in pleasure, is dead, while shee liueth.
7 To tedy rozkazuj, żeby były nienaganione.
These things therefore warne them of, that they may be blamelesse.
8 A jeźli kto o swoich, a najwięcej o domowych starania nie ma, wiary się zaprzał i gorszy jest niż niewierny.
If there bee any that prouideth not for his owne, and namely for them of his housholde, hee denieth the faith, and is worse then an infidell.
9 Wdowa niech będzie obrana, która by nie miała mniej niż sześćdziesiąt lat, która była żoną jednego męża,
Let not a widow be taken into the number vnder three score yeere olde, that hath beene the wife of one husband,
10 Mająca świadectwo w dobrych uczynkach, jeźli dzieci wychowała, jeźli gości przyjmowała, jeźli świętych nogi umywała, jeźli utrapionych wspomagała, jeźli każdego uczynku dobrego naśladowała.
And well reported of for good woorkes: if shee haue nourished her children, if shee haue lodged the strangers, if shee haue washed the Saintes feete, if shee haue ministred vnto them which were in aduersitie, if shee were continually giuen vnto euery good woorke.
11 Wdów zasię młodszych chroń się; bo gdyby się zbestwiły przeciw Chrystusowi, chcą za mąż iść,
But refuse the yonger widowes: for when they haue begun to waxe wanton against Christ, they will marrie,
12 Mając osądzenie, iż pierwszą wiarę odrzuciły;
Hauing damnation, because they haue broken the first faith.
13 Owszem też próżnując uczą się chodzić od domu do domu; a nie tylko są próżnujące, ale też świegotliwe, niepotrzebnemi rzeczami się bawiące, mówiąc, co nie przystoi.
And likewise also being idle they learne to goe about from house to house: yea, they are not onely ydle, but also pratlers and busibodies, speaking things which are not comely.
14 Chcę tedy, aby młodsze szły za mąż, dzieci rodziły, gospodyniami były; przeciwnikowi żadnej przyczyny nie dawały ku obmowisku;
I will therefore that the yonger women marie, and beare children, and gouerne the house, and giue none occasion to the aduersary to speake euill.
15 Albowiem się już niektóre obróciły za szatanem.
For certaine are alreadie turned backe after Satan.
16 Przetoż, jeźli który wierny albo która wierna ma wdowy, niechże je opatruje, a niech zbór nie będzie obciążony, aby tym, które są prawdziwie wdowami, starczyło.
If any faithfull man, or faithfull woman haue widowes, let them minister vnto them, and let not the Church bee charged, that there may bee sufficient for them that are widowes in deede.
17 Starsi, którzy się w przełożeństwie dobrze sprawują, niech będą mieni za godnych dwojakiej czci, a zwłaszcza ci, którzy pracują w słowie i w nauce.
The Elders that rule well, let them be had in double honour, specially they which labour in the worde and doctrine,
18 Albowiem Pismo mówi: Wołowi młócącemu nie zawiążesz gęby; i: Godzien jest robotnik zapłaty swojej.
For the Scripture sayeth, Thou shalt not mousell the mouth of the oxe that treadeth out the corne: and, The labourer is worthie of his wages.
19 Przeciwko starszemu nie przyjmuj skargi, chyba za dwoma albo trzema świadkami.
Against an Elder receiue none accusation, but vnder two or three witnesses.
20 A tych, którzy grzeszą, strofuj przed wszystkimi, aby i drudzy bojaźń mieli.
Them that sinne, rebuke openly, that the rest also may feare.
21 Oświadczam się przed Bogiem i Panem Jezusem Chrystusem, i przed Anioły wybranymi, abyś tych rzeczy przestrzegał, w osobach nie brakując, nic nie czyniąc z przychylności.
I charge thee before God and the Lord Iesus Christ, and the elect Angels, that thou obserue these thinges without preferring one to an other, and doe nothing partially.
22 Rąk z prędka na nikogo nie wkładaj, ani bądź uczestnikiem cudzych grzechów: samego siebie czystym zachowaj.
Lay handes suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other mens sinnes: keepe thy selfe pure.
23 Samej wody więcej nie pijaj, ale używaj po trosze wina dla żołądka twego i częstych chorób twoich.
Drinke no longer water, but vse a litle wine for thy stomakes sake, and thine often infirmities.
24 Grzechy niektórych ludzi przedtem są jawne i uprzedzają na sąd, a za niektórymi idą pozad.
Some mens sinnes are open before hand, and goe before vnto iudgement: but some mens folowe after.
25 Także też dobre uczynki przedtem są jawne; ale które są insze, utaić się nie mogą.
Likewise also the good woorkes are manifest before hande, and they that are otherwise, cannot be hid.
