1 Skoro Chrystus, będąc na ziemi, znosił cierpienia, wy również przygotujcie się na to samo. Doświadczając cierpienia, człowiek przestaje bowiem grzeszyć
Therefore, since Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same mentality, because whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
2 i pragnie poświęcić resztę życia nie na zaspokajanie swoich ludzkich pragnień, ale na wypełnianie woli Boga.
so as to live his remaining time in the flesh no longer for the evil desires of men, but for the will of God.
3 Wystarczy, że wcześniej postępowaliście jak poganie, żyjąc w rozwiązłości, spełniając swoje grzeszne pragnienia, pijąc razem z innymi i oddając cześć bożkom.
For we have spent enough of our lives doing what the Gentiles like to do, walking in sensual indulgences, evil desires, excesses of wine, revelries, drinking bouts, and illicit idolatries.
4 Teraz wasi dawni przyjaciele dziwią się, że już się z nimi w ten sposób nie bawicie i mówią o was różne złe rzeczy.
They are surprised when you do not run with them into the same flood of debauchery, so they revile you.
5 Odpowiedzą jednak za to wszystko przed Bogiem, który osądzi żywych i umarłych.
But they will give an account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
6 Ci bowiem, którzy już zmarli, usłyszeli dobrą nowinę po to, aby mogli duchowo żyć, chociaż ich ciała dosięgła śmierć.
For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to the dead, so that, though they have been judged in the flesh as men are, they might live in the spirit as God does.
7 Niedługo wszystko się skończy. Bądźcie więc rozsądni i trzeźwi, abyście mogli się modlić.
The end of all things has drawn near. Therefore be alert and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.
8 Przede wszystkim okazujcie sobie nawzajem szczerą miłość, ona bowiem potrafi usunąć wiele grzechów.
Above all, maintain a deep love for one another, because love will cover a multitude of sins.
9 Bez narzekania okazujcie też innym gościnność.
Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.
10 Każdy z was otrzymał od Boga jakiś dar—spożytkujcie go więc pomagając innym! Czyniąc to, zrobicie dobry użytek z okazanej wam przez Boga łaski.
As each of you has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 Jeśli ktoś umie przemawiać, niech przekazuje innym słowo Boże. Jeśli ktoś potrafi pomagać innym, niech czyni to z mocą Bożą. W ten sposób—dzięki Jezusowi Chrystusowi—odda cześć Bogu, do którego należy wieczna chwała i moc. Amen! (aiōn g165)
If anyone speaks, he should do so as one who speaks the oracles of God; if anyone serves, he should do so as one who serves from strength as God supplies it, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
12 Nie dziwcie się, drodzy, gdy spotykają was różne próby i gdy czujecie się tak, jakbyście przechodzili przez ogień.
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial that has come upon you to test you, as though a strange thing were happening to you.
13 Cieszcie się raczej, że możecie cierpieć, podobnie jak Chrystus. Gdy bowiem objawi się Jego chwała, będziecie naprawdę szczęśliwi i pełni radości.
But insofar as you share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, so that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.
14 Teraz zaś bądźcie dumni z tego, że ludzie znieważają was z powodu wierności Chrystusowi. Jest to bowiem dowód na to, że w waszym życiu działa Boży Duch.
If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.
15 Niech wasze cierpienie nie będzie jednak spowodowane tym, że jesteście mordercami, złodziejami lub innymi przestępcami, albo ludźmi siejącymi zamęt.
None of you should suffer as a murderer, thief, evildoer, or meddler,
16 Jeśli jednak cierpicie z powodu wierności Chrystusowi, nie wstydźcie się tego, ale dziękujcie Bogu za to, że do Niego należycie!
but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he should not be ashamed, but should glorify God in this matter.
17 Nadchodzi bowiem czas sądu, który rozpocznie się od Bożej rodziny. A skoro my zostaniemy osądzeni jako pierwsi, to jak skończą ci, którzy w ogóle nie są posłuszni Bożej dobrej nowinie?
For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God, and if it begins first with us, what will be the outcome for those who are disobedient to the gospel of God?
18 „Jeśli prawi z trudem dostąpią zbawienia, jaki los spotka bezbożnych i grzeszników?”
And, “If the righteous man is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly man and sinner?”
19 Ci więc, którzy teraz—zgodnie z wolą Boga—znoszą cierpienia, niech nadal czynią dobro i powierzają się opiece Stworzyciela, który zawsze jest wierny.
Therefore, those who suffer according to the will of God should entrust their souls to him as their faithful Creator while doing what is good.
