< Psalms 78 >
1 KOMAIL nai aramaj akan, ron ai kujoned; komail kapaike don jalon omail padak en au ai!
“A psalm of Asaph.” Give ear, O my people, to my instruction! Incline your ears to the words of my mouth!
2 I pan ki pajan au ai, pwen padak, o pan kida kajoi en maj o,
I will open my mouth in a psalm; I will utter sayings of ancient times.
3 Me kitail ronadar o ajaer, o jam atail kajoi on kitail er,
What we have heard and learned, And our fathers have told us,
4 Pwe kitail ender karirila jan kadaudok arail, me pan pwarado mur, o kaparokki wau en leowa, o a manaman o a dodok kapuriamui kan.
We will not hide from their children; Showing to the generation to come the praises of Jehovah, His might, and the wonders he hath wrought.
5 Pwe a kotin kauada men kataman eu ren Iakop, o kotikida kapun eu ren men Ijrael, me u kotin kakaliki on jam atail akan, pwe ren ujelan nair jeri kan,
For he appointed statutes in Jacob, And established a law in Israel, Which he commanded our fathers To make known to their children;
6 Pwe di en mur en aja due, o jeri ko, me pan ipwidi; o ni ar kokoda, ren pil kajoi on nair jeri kan
So that the generation to come might know them; The children, which should be born, and rise up, Who should declare them to their children;
7 Pwe irail en kaporoporeki Kot, o ren der monokela en Kot a wiwia kan, o ren kapwaiada a kujoned akan.
That they might put their trust in God, And not forget his deeds, But keep his commandments;
8 O ren der dueta jam arail akan, me kainok kanudi o katiwo eu, me monion arail jota teneten, o nen arail jota melel on Kot.
And might not be, like their forefathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, —A generation whose heart was not fixed upon God, And whose spirit was not steadfast toward the Almighty.
9 Dueta kainok Epraim, me wa tatan mauin, ap purela jan nan pei.
The children of Ephraim were like armed bowmen, Who turn their backs in the day of battle.
10 Irail jota dadaurata inau en Kot, o re jota men weweideki duen a kujoned akan.
They kept not the covenant of God, And refused to walk in his law;
11 O re monokelar a wiawia kan o a manaman akan, me a kotin kajaljale on irail er.
And forgot his mighty deeds, And the wonders he had shown them.
12 A kotin wiadar manaman akai janjal mon jam arail akan nan Akipten, nan jap Joan.
Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, In the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13 A kotin palan pajan madau o kotin mueid on ir, en kotela, o wiadar pil dueta kel takai eu.
He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; Yea, he made the waters to stand as a heap.
14 A kotin kalua kin irail tapik ni ran o, o ni pon umpul en kijiniai.
By day he led them by a cloud, And all the night by a light of fire.
15 A kotin palan pajan paip nan jap tan o kanim pile kin irail pil toto.
He clave the rocks in the wilderness, And gave them drink, as from the great deep.
16 O a kotin kapkapwile wei pilap kai jan nan paip, pwe ren pwile wei dueta pilap laud akan.
From the rock he brought flowing streams, And made water to run down like rivers.
17 Ari jo, re dadaurata ni arail didi on I, o re kaonioni me Lapalap o nan jap tan.
Yet still they sinned against him, And provoked the Most High in the desert.
18 O re kajonejon Kot nan monion arail, ni ar inon ion kan arail mana.
They tempted God in their hearts, By asking food for their delight.
19 O re palian Kot ni ar inda: Melel Kot pan kak wiada tepel eu nan jap tan?
Yea, they spake against God, and said, “Can God spread a table in the wilderness?
20 Kilan, a poki paip o, pe pil en pwarado o pilap akan pwilepwile wei, a iaduen, a pan kak kida prot o uduk on na aramaj akan?
Behold! he smote the rock, and the water flowed, And streams gushed forth: Is he also able to give bread? Can he provide flesh for his people?”
21 Ieowa lao manier mepukat, ap kotin onionadar, o kijiniai wiauier ren Iakop, o onion lel on Ijrael,
When, therefore, the LORD heard this, he was wroth: So a fire was kindled against Jacob, And anger arose against Israel.
22 Pweki ar jo kamelele Kot, o jota kaporoporeki a jauaj.
Because they believed not in God, And trusted not in his aid.
23 A ap kotin majani on tapok en poa kan, o ritinida wanim on lan akan.
Yet he had commanded the clouds above, And had opened the doors of heaven;
24 O kotin kamoredi on ir mana, pwe ren mana, o a kotiki on ir prot en lan.
And had rained down upon them manna for food, And had given them the corn of heaven.
25 Irail kanalar prot en tounlan kan; a kotin kadar on ir kijin mana toto.
Every one ate the food of princes; He sent them bread to the full.
26 A kotin kapwaredar pan lan an en maj en lan, o ni a manaman a kotin kamokidada an en pali air.
Then he caused a strong wind to blow in the heavens, And by his power he brought a south wind;
27 O a kotin kamoredi on ir uduk dueta pwel par, o manpir dueta pik en oror.
He rained down flesh upon them as dust, And feathered fowls as the sand of the sea.
28 O a kotin kapup irail di waja karoj, me irail kaujon ia.
He caused them to fall in the midst of their camp, Round about their habitations.
29 Rap manamana o medilar kaualap, o a kotin mueid on ir ar inon.
So they did eat, and were filled; For he gave them their own desire.
30 A ni ar kapwaiadar ar inon, o ni ar manamana.
Their desire was not yet satisfied, And their meat was yet in their mouths,
31 Onion en Kot ap lel on irail er, o kamelar ol lapalap re’rail, o kotin wokiedi mana kap en Ijrael kajampwal akan.
When the wrath of God came upon them, And slew their strong men, And smote down the chosen men of Israel.
32 A re kalaudelar arail dip, o re jota kamelele a manaman akan.
For all this they sinned still, And put no trust in his wondrous works.
33 I me a kotin mueidoki ren mela, re jota paida, o ar apwal akan me toto arain ar maur.
Therefore he consumed their days in vanity, And their years in sudden destruction.
34 Ni a kotin kame irail la, rap idok i, o wukila, o rapaki Kot.
When he slew them, they sought him; They returned, and sought earnestly for God;
35 O re tamandar, me Kot kele parail o Kot lapalap ar jaundor.
And remembered that God was their rock, And the Most High their redeemer.
36 O re lik janjal mau on i ni au arail o re likam on i ni lo ar.
But they only flattered him with their mouths, And spake falsely to him with their tongues.
37 A monion arail jota teneten on i, o re jota dadaurata melel a inau.
For their hearts were not true to him, Nor were they steadfast in his covenant.
38 Ari jo, a kotin kalanan on ir, o kotin makeki on ir dip arail, o jota kame irail la, o katukiedi a onion pan pak toto, o jota onioni melel.
Yet, being full of compassion, he forgave their iniquity, And would not utterly destroy them; Often he restrained his indignation, And stirred not up all his anger.
39 Pwe a kotin kupura, me irail pali uduk, dueta kijinian, me pir wei o jolar puredo.
He remembered that they were but flesh, —A breath, that passeth and cometh not back.
40 Pan pak toto re kanudi on i nan jap tan, o kakupur juedi i nan mal.
How often did they provoke him in the wilderness! How often did they anger him in the desert!
41 Irail pur on anjau karoj kajonejon Kot, o re akapuni on me Jaraui ren men Ijrael.
Again and again they tempted God, And offended the Holy One of Israel.
42 Re jolar tamanda lim a manaman, me dore ir ala jan ar imwintiti kan ni ran o.
They remembered not his hand, Nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy;
43 Duen a kotin wiadar a manaman akan nan Akipten o a dodok kapuriamui nan Joan.
What signs he had wrought in Egypt, And what wonders in the fields of Zoan.
44 A kotin kawuki on nta ar pil akan, rap jolar kak nima jan ar pilap akan.
He turned their rivers into blood, So that they could not drink of their streams.
45 Ni a kotin kapwaredar man jued akan nan pun arail, me kan ir ala, o proj akan, me kawe ir ala.
He sent amongst them flies, which devoured them, And frogs, which destroyed them.
46 A kotiki on muedi ar tuka kan, o ar wantuka on man jiek.
He gave also their fruits to the caterpillar, And their labor to the locust.
47 A kotin kawekilar akel ar wain o tuka kan ki akel tikitik.
He destroyed their vines with hail, And their sycamore-trees with frost.
48 A kotin kamekila ar man akel akan o ar pwin man akan liol.
He also gave up their cattle to hail, And their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
49 A kotin onion melel o porone won ir tounlan jued kai, o mueid on ir, ren linaranar, o morjued, o kainjenjued.
He sent against them the fierceness of his anger, Wrath, indignation, and woe, —A host of angels of evil.
50 A kotin kaonopa dan onion al apot, o jota dorelar maur arail jan mela, o kotin mueid on kilitop ni maur arail.
He made a way for his anger, He spared them not from death, But gave up their lives to the pestilence.
51 A kotin kamelar mejeni karoj nan Akipten, mejeni en ar kelail nan im en Am akan.
He smote all the firstborn in Egypt; The first-fruits of their strength in the tents of Ham.
52 A kotin kaluala japwilim a kan dueta pwin jip eu nan jap tan.
But he led forth his own people like sheep, And guided them like a flock in the wilderness.
53 A kotin kalua irail ni pun, pwe ren der majak meakot, a madau kadupaledi ar imwintiti kan.
He led them on safely, so that they feared not, While the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
54 A kotin wa ir ala lel ni irair en jap jaraui, lel nana wet, me lim a pali maun kileledier.
He brought them to his own sacred border, Even to this mountain which his right hand had gained.
55 O kotin pakipaki men liki kan mo’rail, o kotin nek on ir jap arail, pwen jojoki, o a kotiki on kainok en Ijrael akan, en kaukaujon nan im arail.
He cast out the nations before them, And divided their land by a measuring-line, as an inheritance, And caused the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
56 A re jonejon? o kaonion Kot lapalap, o jota peiki on i, o jota duki on a majan akan.
Yet they tempted and provoked God, the Most High, And kept not his statutes;
57 O re muei jan o mamaleki meakaroj, dueta jam arail akan, o re jota teneten, dueta kajik katieu luet eu.
Like their fathers they were faithless, and turned back; They turned aside, like a deceitful bow.
58 O re kaonion i ni ar kaudok pon dol akan, o re kupur juedeki i ki arail dikedik en ani kan.
They provoked his anger by their high places, And stirred up his jealousy by their graven images.
59 A Kot lao kotin mani mepukat, ap kotin onionada o kajapok ir ala melel.
God saw this, and was wroth, And greatly abhorred Israel;
60 A kotin muei jan tanpaj a nan Jilo, im pwal o, waja a kotikot ia ren aramaj akan.
So that he forsook the habitation at Shiloh, The tabernacle where he dwelt among men,
61 A kotiki wei japwilim akan nan imaten, o a linan nan pa en imwintiti kan.
And delivered his strength into captivity, And his glory into the hand of the enemy.
62 A kotiki wei japwilim a aramaj akan ni kodlaj, o kotin onioni japwilim a jojo.
His own people he gave up to the sword, And was wroth with his own inheritance.
63 Kijiniai kanala ar manakap akan, o ar peinekap akan jolar kak papaud.
Fire consumed their young men, And their maidens did not bewail them.
64 Arail jamero kan mekilar kodlaj, a jolar li odi kan, me kin maiei.
Their priests fell by the sword, And their widows made no lamentation.
65 Ieowa ap kotin opala waja dueta amen me mairelar, dueta ol komad amen kin nijinij ni a kan wain.
But at length the Lord awaked as from sleep, As a hero who had been overpowered by wine;
66 A kotin kaloedier a imwintiti kan o kanamenok ir ala kokolata.
He smote his enemies, and drove them back, And covered them with everlasting disgrace.
67 A kotin kajelar im en Iojep, o jota piladar kainok en Epraim.
Yet he rejected the tents of Joseph, And chose not the tribe of Ephraim;
68 Pwe a kotin piladar kainok en Iuda, kol Jion, me a koti kupura.
But chose the tribe of Judah, The Mount Zion which he loved;
69 O a kotin kauadar tanpaj a im jaraui waja ileile, dueta jappa me pan teneten ea kokolata.
Where he built, like the heavens, his sanctuary; Like the earth, which he hath established for ever.
70 Ap kotin piladar japwilim a ladu Dawid, o a kotin ale i jan nan deun jip akan.
And he chose David, his servant, And took him from the sheepfolds;
71 A kotin kalua i jan ren jip en kadidi kan, pwen kamana japwilim a kainok en Iakop o a jojo men Ijrael.
From tending the suckling ewes he brought him To feed Jacob his people, And Israel his inheritance.
72 O a kotin apapwali ir ni tiak en monion melel o pun, o kakaun irail ada ni koiok en lim a kan.
He fed them with an upright heart, And guided them with skilful hands.
