< Psalms 18 >

1 I KIN pok on komui Main, ai kel.
To the music director. A psalm of David the servant of the Lord, who sang the words of this song to the Lord on the day when the Lord saved him from all his enemies, and from Saul. He sang: I love you, Lord. You are my strength.
2 Ieowa ai paip, ai kel, ai jaundor, ai Kot, ai paipalap, me i kin liki, pere pa i, menkamaur pa i o jile pa i!
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my Savior. He is my God, my rock who protects me. He shields me from harm, his power protects me, he keeps me safe.
3 I kin nidinid on Ieowa, me kapin en ko on, o i pan dorela jan ai imwintiti kan.
I call for help from the Lord who should be praised, and he saves me from those who hate me.
4 I lodi oner jal en mela kan, o pilap en Pileam akan kamajak ia er.
Ropes of death encircled me, surging waters of destruction flooded over me;
5 Jal en wajan mela kol ia dier, o jal en mela kaloe ia dier. (Sheol h7585)
The grave wound its ropes around me; death set snares for me. (Sheol h7585)
6 Ni ai majak i likwir on Ieowa o weriwer on ai Kot; I ap kotin ereki nil ai jan nan tanpaj a, o ai likwir lel on karon a kan.
In my despair I called on the Lord—I cried out to my God for help. He heard my voice from his Temple—my cry for help reached his ears.
7 Jappa rerer o mokidedar, o pajon en nana kan ititekok o rerer, ni a kotin onionidar.
The earth shook to and fro; the foundations of the mountains trembled, shaking because of his anger.
8 Atiniai koda jan nan jilan i, o kijiniai kelail jan nan au a, ap kareda liol.
Smoke came out of his nostrils, and fire came from his mouth; burning coals blazed before him.
9 O a kotikidier nanlan o kotidido, o rotorot impan aluwilu a kan.
He parted the heavens and came down, with dark clouds beneath his feet.
10 O a kotikot pon Kerup amen o kotin pirwei, o a kotin dake pa en an.
Riding on an angel he flew, swooping on the wings of the wind.
11 Tanpaj a im pwal iei rotorot, o katau laud, o tapok rotorot, kapil pena i.
He hid himself in darkness, covering himself with black thunderclouds.
12 Linan me mi mo a, kamueit pajan tapok kan ian akel o liol.
Hailstones and burning coals flew out from his brightness, passing through his thick clouds.
13 O Ieowa kotin wiadar nanjapwe nanlan, o me Lapalapia kotin poronelar kapit i ian akel o liol.
The Lord thundered from heaven; the voice of the Most High sounded among the hailstones and burning coals.
14 A kotin kajik wei japwilim a kanan en kajik katieu, o kotin kamueit irail pajan. A kotin wiadar liol toto o kamajak irail adar.
He fired his arrows, scattering his enemies; he routed them with his lightning bolts.
15 Al en pil akan ap janjaladar, o pajon en jappa weiweidar ki ar onion Main, mon an en jilan omui.
You roared, Lord, and by the wind from the breath of your nostrils the valleys of the sea were exposed and the foundations of the earth were uncovered.
16 A kotikidier lim a jan nan waja ileile, a kotin kol ia di o kotin api ia dar jan nan pil kalaimun akan.
He reached down his hand from above and grabbed hold of me. He pulled me out of the deep water.
17 A kotin dore ia la jan ai imwintiti kelail akan, jan ir, me kailon kin ia, ir me i jota itar on.
He rescued me from my powerful enemies, from those who hated me and who were much stronger than me.
18 Irail kaloe ia dier ni ai ran apwal, a Ieowa kotin wialar jauaj pa i.
They came at me at my worst possible moment, but the Lord supported me.
19 O a kotin kalua ia wajan jaladok, a kotin kamaio ia da, aki a kotin kupukupura ia.
He set me free, he rescued me because he's my friend.
20 Ieowa kin kotin jauaja ia duen ai pun, a kotin katini on ia duen makelekel en pa i kan.
The Lord rewarded me because I do what's right; he repaid me because I am innocent.
21 Pwe i kin weweid nani al en Ieowa, o i jota kin katiwo on ai Kot.
For I have followed the Lord's ways; I have not sinned by turning away from my God.
22 Pwe a majan akan mi mo i, o i jota pan kaje jan ia a kujoned akan.
I have kept all his laws in mind; I have not ignored his commandments.
23 Pwe nai unjokalar mon jilan i o juedeki ai japun.
I am blameless in his sight; I keep myself from sinning.
24 O Ieowa kotin katini on ia duen ai pun, o duen makelekel en pa i kan mon jilan i.
The Lord rewarded me for doing what's right. I am innocent in his sight.
25 Komui me kalanan on me mau kan, o lelapok on me lelapok kan,
You show trust to those who trust; you show integrity to those with integrity,
26 O makelekel ren me makelekel akan, o japun ren me japun kan.
You show yourself pure to those who are pure, but you show yourself smart to those who are crafty.
27 Pwe kom kin kotin dorela aramaj luet akan, ap kadukiedi maj en me aklapalap akan.
You save the humble, but you bring down the proud.
28 Pwe kom kin kotin kamaraini ai lamp, Ieowa ai Kot kin kamaraini ai rotorot.
You light my lamp! Lord, my God, you light up my darkness!
29 Pwe ni ai ian komui i kak kaloedi karij en jaunpei kan, o ni ai ian ai Kot, i kak lujwei pon kel takai.
With you, I can charge down a troop of soldiers; with you, my God, I can climb a fortress wall.
30 AI en Kot me unjokala; majan en Ieowa me makelekel. I pere pan karoj, me liki i.
God's way is absolutely right. What the Lord says is trustworthy. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.
31 Pwe ia amen Kot impan Ieowa, de ia paip eu impan atail Kot?
For who is God except the Lord? Who is the rock, except our God?
32 lei Kot, me kotin aude kin ia manaman, o kaunjokala al ai.
God makes me strong and keeps me safe.
33 A kin kotin wiai on na i kan dueta na en tia, o kotin kajapwil ia dan waja ileile.
He makes me surefooted like the deer, able to walk the heights in safety.
34 A kotin padaki on pa i kan tiak en mauin o, pwen kak on kaonopada kaiik katieu mata.
He teaches me how to fight in battle; he gives me the strength to draw a bronze bow.
35 Kom kotiki on ia pere pan maur omui, o lim omui pali maun kamana ia da, o omui opampap me kajapwil ia da.
You protect me with the shield of your salvation; you support me with your powerful right hand; your help has made me great.
36 Kom kotin kaonopadar al, me i pan weweid ia, pwe nil i kan ender krijedi.
You gave me space in which to walk, and prevented my feet from slipping.
37 I pan tan won ai imwintiti kan o kono irail edi, o i jota pan puredo, lao karoj lodier.
I chased my enemies, and caught up with them. I did not turn around until I had destroyed them.
38 I pan kamor irail pajan, re jota pan kak palian ia, o re pan pupedi on pan na i kan.
I struck them down—they couldn't get up. They fell at my feet.
39 Kom kak kamana kin ia omui manaman on ni pei; Kom kak kajedi on pan na i kan karoj me palian ia.
You made me strong for battle; you made those who rose up against me kneel down before me.
40 Kom kin kotin kaloedi on ia ai imwintiti kan, pwen kawela, me kailon kin ia.
You made my enemies run away; I destroyed all my enemies.
41 Re kin likelikwir, a jota jauaj parail ren Ieowa, a jota kotin japen ir.
They cried out for help, but no one came to rescue them. They even called out to the Lord, but he did not answer them.
42 I pan juk irail pajan dueta pwel par nan kijinian; i pan kaje ir ala dueta pwel jamin jan nani al o.
I ground them into dust, like dust in the wind. I threw them out like mud in the street.
43 Kom kin kotin dore ia jan ren akamai en aramaj, o kom kotin kajapwil ia dan men liki kan; o wei eu me i jaja kin upa on ia.
You rescued me from rebellious people; you made me ruler over nations—people I didn't know now serve me.
44 Ni ar roner, re peiki on ia er, o nain men wai kan peikion ia ni linkapin.
As soon as they hear of me, they obey; foreigners cringe before me.
45 Nain men wai kan poridier o rerer o pwarado jan nan ar im kalaimun akan.
They lose heart, and come trembling in surrender from their strongholds.
46 Ieowa kotin ieiaj; kapin on ai paipalap; o kapin on Kot ai jaundor.
The Lord lives! Blessed be my rock! May the God who saves me be praised!
47 Kot me kotin depuk on ai imwintiti kan, o a kotin kaloedi on ia ai imwintiti kan;
God avenges me, he subdues peoples under me,
48 Kom kotin dore ia la jan ai imwintiti kan, o kom kotin kajapwil ia dan ir, me palian ia. Kom kin kotin jauaja ia on me, morjued on ia.
he rescues me from those who hate me. You keep me safe from those who rebel against me, you save me from violent men.
49 I me i men danke komui, Main Ieowa, nan pun en men liki kan o kauleki duen mar Omui,
That's why I will praise you among the nations, Lord; I will sing praises about who you are.
50 Komui me kotin kamaurada melel japwilim a nanmarki o a kotin jauaja mau japwilim a Dawid keiedier o kadaudok a kokolata.
You have saved the king so often, showing your trustworthy love to David, your anointed, and to his descendants forever.
