1 MURIN me toto ar intiniedier kajoi pan meakan, me kitail kin kamelele,
Given that many have undertaken to set in order a narrative concerning those things that really did take place among us,
2 Duen ir, me kajokajoi on kit, me jaunkakede o papa pan majan jan ni tapi o,
just as those who became eyewitnesses, from the beginning, and ministers of the Word delivered them to us,
3 I ap pil lamedar, me mau, i en intin won komui, Main Tiopiluj, pwe i lelepokki karoj jan in tapi o kokodo.
it seemed good to me also, most excellent Theophilus, having taken careful note of everything from Above, to write to you with precision and in sequence,
4 Pwe komui en aja duen meakan me komui aleer, me pun melel.
so that you may know the certainty of the things in which you were instructed.
5 Ni muein Erodej nanmarki en ludiia, jamoro amen mia, kijan pwin on Apia, me mar a Jakariaj, o a paud amen jan nain Aron jeripein oko, me mar a Elijapet.
In the days of Herod, the king of Judea, there was a certain priest named Zacharias, of the priestly division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron and her name was Elizabeth.
6 Ira karoj me pun mon Kot, o ira ineneweita ni en Kaun a kujoned o tiak kan karoj.
They were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord.
7 A jota naira jeri, pwe Elijapet li dapwan amen, o ira karoj likailapalar.
But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren; and they both were well advanced in years.
8 A kadekadeo ni a kapwaiada a dodok en jamero mon Kot ni anjau o, me a pwin pwaijaneki,
Now it happened, as he was officiating as priest before God in the order of his division,
9 Duen a kin wiaui ren jamero kan, o anjau en ijik mairon lao leler, a kotilon on nan im en kaudok en Kaun o.
according to the custom of the priesthood, that his lot was to burn incense, upon entering the sanctuary of the Lord;
10 A pokon kalaimun mi liki, wiawia kapakap ni klok en ijij.
and the whole multitude of the people was praying outside at the hour of incense.
11 A tounlan en Kaun amen pwara don i, kotikot ni pali maun en pei jaraui en potik.
Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense;
12 Jakariaj lao majani, ap lujikida o majapwekada.
and upon seeing him Zacharias was shaken, and a fear fell upon him.
13 A tounlan o majani on i: Jakariaj, der majak, pwe om kapakap pwaidar, om paud Elijapet pan naitikeda jeri ol amen, a koe pan ki on mar a Ioanej.
But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, because your prayer was heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.
14 O a pan kare on uk peren o popol, o me toto pan perenki a ipwidi.
And you will have joy and exultation, and many will rejoice over his birth.
15 Pwe a pan lapalap ren Kaun o, a jota pan nim wain, pil jo eu jon en joko; a pan dir en Nen jaraui nan kupur en in a.
For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; he must not drink either wine or strong drink; indeed, he will be filled with Holy Spirit already from his mother's womb.
16 A me toto ren nain Ijrael akan, me a pan kawuki on Kaun ar Kot.
And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God;
17 A pan tion mo a ni nen o rojon en Eliaj, pwen kawuki on jeri kan monion en jam arail akan o me jopeik kan on lamalam en me pun kan, pwen kaonopadan Kaun o pwin aramaj lelapok eu.
in fact he himself will go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of fathers to children’ and the disobedient to the mindset of the righteous, to prepare a people made ready for the Lord.”
18 A Jakariaj majani on tounlan o: Da me i en ajaki me wet? Pwe I ol laudalar amen, o ai paud pil likailapalar.
But Zacharias said to the angel: “How can I be sure of this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.”
19 A tounlan japen majani on i: Nai Kapriel, me kin ariri Kot, o me pakadarado, en lokaia on uk, o wa don uk ronamau pukat.
So in answer the angel said to him: “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God; I was sent to speak to you and bring you this good news.
20 Kilan, koe pan loton la, o jaja lokaia lao lel ran o, me mepukat pan pwaida, pweki om jota kamelele ai kajoi, me pan pwaida ni a anjau.
Now look, you will be silent and not able to speak until the day in which these things happen, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time.”
21 A pokon o auiaui Jakariaj, puriamuiki a pwapwand nan im ni kaudok.
Now the people were waiting for Zacharias and wondering at his delay in the sanctuary.
22 A lao pedoi jan, a jolar kak majan on irail. Irail ap dedeki, me e udial manaman eu nan im en kaudok o. A olol on irail o lotonlar.
But when he came out he was unable to speak to them, and they understood that he had seen a vision in the sanctuary—he kept gesturing to them while remaining mute.
23 Kadekadeo ran akan en a dodok lao nikier, a kotin purelan japwe koieilan im a.
And so, when the days of his service were fulfilled, he took off for home.
24 Murin ran pukat a paud Elijapet lijeanda o mimieta nan deu a jaunipon limau indada:
Well after those days his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and stayed in seclusion five months. She kept saying,
25 Iduen Kaun o kotin wiai on ia ni ran oko, ni a kotin majan don ia, pwen kotiki jan ia kanamenok pai ren aramaj.
“So that's what the Lord has done for me in the days when He concerned Himself to take away my reproach among the people!”
26 Ni kawonu en jaunipon tounlan Kapriel pakadarala jan ren Kot on nan kanim en Kalilaa eu, me ad a Najaret,
Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town of Galilee named Natsareth,
27 Ren jeripein makelekel amen, me kijin nin on ol amen, me mar a Iojep, kijan kadaudok en Dawid; jeripein makelekel o adaneki Maria.
to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; the virgin's name was Mary.
28 Tounlan o kotilon on nan deu a majani on i: Kajelelia Main, kom meid pai, Kaun o kotikot re omui! Kom meid pai nan pun en li akan!
So upon entering where she was the angel said, “Rejoice, recipient of grace, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”
29 A lao kilaner i, o ronadar a majan, ap majapwekadar madamadaua: Duen jon en ranamau o.
But upon seeing him she was perplexed at his word and was trying to figure out what sort of greeting it might be.
30 A tounlan majani on i: Maria, ender majak, pwe komui me konekonelar ren Kot.
The angel said to her: “Do not be afraid, Mary, because you have found favor with God.
31 A kilan, komui pan lijeanda o naitikeda jeri ol amen, a komui pan ki on mar a Iejuj.
Now then, you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS.
32 Nan i me pan lapalap, o a pan maraneki Japwilim en Kaun lapalap, o Kaun Kot pan kotiki on i mol en jam a Dawid.
He will be great, and will be called ‘Son of the Most High’; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David,
33 O a pan kakaunda kadaudok en Iakop kokolata, o japwilim a wei jota pan imwila. (aiōn )
and He will reign over the house of Jacob into the ages; indeed, of His kingdom there will be no end!” (aiōn )
34 Maria ap majani on tounlan o: Daduen mepukat pan kak wiaui, aki i jaja ol amen?
So Mary said to the angel, “How shall this be, since I do not know a man?”
35 Tounlan o kotin japen majani on i: Nen jaraui pan kotin ti po omui o rojon en Kaun lapalap pan kipa komui di, i me jaraui o, me pan ipwi jan komui, pan marenki: Japwilim en Kot.
In answer the angel said to her: “Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will hover over you; precisely for this reason the holy One who is to be born will be called ‘Son of God’!
36 O majani, ri om Elijapet pil lijeandar ni a likailapala, a pan neitikeda jeri ol amen, a kawonu en jaunipon anjau wet; iei i me dapwan,
Furthermore, your relative Elizabeth, she has actually conceived a son in her old age and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren;
37 Pwe jota meakot, me Kot jota kak on.
because any word spoken by God will be possible.”
38 A Maria potoan on: Majani, nai lidu en Kaun o; en wiaui on ia duen omui majan. Tounlan o ap kotila jan re a.
So Mary said: “Yes, I am the Lord's slave! Let it happen to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
39 I ran oko Maria madan kotila pon nana o nan kanim en luda eu,
Then Mary quickly got ready and went into the hill country in those days, to a town of Judah,
40 Ap pedelon on nan im en Jakariaj o ranamau on Elijapet.
and entered the house of Zacharias and saluted Elizabeth.
41 Kadekadeo Elijapet lao roner en Maria a ranamau on i, jeri o ap mokideda nan kaped a; a Elijapet ap direkila Nen jaraui,
Well it happened that as Elizabeth heard Mary's salutation the babe bounced up and down in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with Holy Spirit.
42 O nil laudeda majani: Komui meid pai ren li akan, o meid iajanai ipwin kupur omui!
And she cried out with a great voice and said: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the Fruit of your womb!
43 A iaduen pai wet a ko jan ia, pwe in en ai Kaun koti don ia?
Why am I so favored that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 Majani, ni ai roner omui ranamau, jeri o ap mokideda nan kaped i aki a peren.
Yes indeed, because as the sound of your salutation came into my ears the babe bounced up and down in my womb for joy.
45 O komui meid pai, pweki komui pojon! Pwe a pan pwaida, me Kaun o kotin majani on komui.
Blessed is she who believed, because there will be a fulfillment of the things that have been spoken to her from the Lord.”
46 Maria ap majani: Lol ai kapina Kaun o,
So Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord,
47 O nen i perenki Kot ai Jaunkamaur.
and my spirit has exulted over God my Savior,
48 Pwe a kotin kupurala japwilim a lidu tikitik o. Kilan, jan met o kokolata di karoj pan kapai kin ia,
in that He paid attention to the humble station of His slave (f). Yes indeed, because from now on all generations will declare me to be highly favored,
49 Pwe a kotin wiaer jon en manaman on ia, me lapalap o mar a me jaraui.
in that the Mighty One did sublime things for me, and Holy is His name.
50 A kotin kalanan on di karoj kokolata, on irail me kin lan i.
His mercy is for generations of generations to those fearing Him.
51 O a kotin wia kida lim a manaman akan. O a kotin kara wan pajan, me kin lemai nan monion arail.
He has done mighty deeds with His arm; He has dispersed the arrogant in the reasoning of their hearts.
52 A kotin jikin wei jaupeidi kan jan mol ar, ap id kajapwilada me tikitik kan.
He has dethroned rulers and exalted the lowly.
53 A kotin kamede kida kapwa me men manadar akan, ap kotin kadarala kaip me kapwapwa kan.
He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away empty.
54 A kotin upor kin japwilim a ladu Ijrael, o kotin tamataman a kalanan,
He has taken the part of His servant Israel, in remembrance of mercy,
55 Duen a kotin majani on jam atail akan, on Apraam o kadaudok a kokolata. (aiōn )
just as He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed while there is an age.” (aiōn )
56 A Maria kotikot re a jaunipon jilu, ap purelan im a.
So Mary stayed with her about three months, and returned to her house.
57 Ari, anjaun Elijapet leler pwen naitik, a naitikeda jeri ol amen.
Now the time for Elizabeth to give birth was completed and she bore a son.
58 O men imp a kan o jau i ronadar, me Kaun o kotin kupura i, rap ian i peren kida.
Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had used His great mercy with her, and they rejoiced with her.
59 Kadekadeo auel en ran o re pwara don jirkomjaij jeri o; ir ari ki on mar en jam a Jakariaj.
So it was, on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child, and they started calling him by the name of his father, Zacharias.
60 A in a japen indada: O kaidin, pwe a pan maraneki Ioanej.
His mother reacted and said, “Absolutely not; he shall be called John!”
61 lrail ap indan i: Nan jota jau om men me maraneki met.
So they said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who is called by this name.”
62 Irail ap olol on jam a, duen me a mauki, jeri en adaneki.
So they started motioning to his father, as to what he would have him called.
63 I ari poeki jlet eu, ap intiniedier o majani: A pan adaneki loanej. Irail karoj ap puriamuiki.
Asking for a writing tablet he wrote this: “His name is to be John!” They all marveled.
64 A madan jilan i wajok pajan o tenap a japadokada; i ari majani o kapina Kot.
Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue freed and he started to speak, blessing God.
65 A majak kipadi karoj, me kaukaujon imp ar, o wiawia pukat lolok jili pon nana en Iudaa karoj.
(Well a fear came on all who lived around them; and all these sayings kept being talked about throughout all the hill country of Judea.
66 A karoj me ronadar, kin nekinekid nan monion arail, indada: Da me jeri men et pan wiala? Pwe lim en Kaun o kotin ian i.
All who heard kept them in their hearts saying, “What then will this child be?” And the hand of the Lord was with him.)
67 A jam a Jakariaj direkila Nen jaraui ap kokopada majani:
Now his father Zacharias was filled with Holy Spirit and prophesied saying:
68 Kapina on Kaun Kot en Ijrael, pwe a kotidier ren japwilim a aramaj akan dore ir ala.
“Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and provided redemption for His people;
69 O kotin wiadan kitail kamaur patail jan nan kadaudok en japwilim a ladu Dawid.
and has raised up a horn of deliverance for us in the house of His servant David
70 Duen a kotin majanier ren japwilim a jaukop jaraui kan, jan tapin kaua kokodo, (aiōn )
—just as He spoke through the mouth of His holy prophets from antiquity— (aiōn )
71 Me a pan kotin dore kitail la jan ren atail imwintiti o jan nan pa en me kailon kin kitail,

72 O kotin kalanan on jam atail akan, o kotin kupureda a inau jaraui,

73 O kaula eu, me a kotin kauki on jam atail Apraam, en kotiki on kitail.

74 Pwe jen dore jan nan pa en atail imwintiti, ap papa i jo majak,
to grant to us (having been rescued from the hand of our enemies) to serve Him without fear,
75 Nin tiak lelapok o pun mon jilan i ran karoj kokolata.
in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.
76 A koe nai jeri pan adaneki: Jaukop en me lapalap o, pwe koe pan tion mon jilan en Kaun o, pwen kuonopada japwilim a al akan
And you, child, will be called Prophet of the Most High, because you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways,
77 Pwen kawewe on japwilim a aramaj kamaur, iei lapwa pan dip ar akan;
to give a knowledge of salvation to His people by the forgiveness of their sins,
78 Pweki en atail Kot a kalanan melel, me marain dakaraki don kitail jan poa.

80 A jeri o kakairida, o kelail ni nen e, o a kin mimi nan jap tan, lao a pan janjal on Ijrael.
So the child kept growing and being strengthened in spirit, and he stayed in uninhabited areas until the day of his manifestation to Israel.
