< Timoteuj I 3 >
1 MELEL kajoi pot et: Ma amen rapaki koa en pijop, a kin inon ion wiawia mau eu.
This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desires a good work.
2 A pijop o en pun, o warok en li ta men, o jo kowei kodo, a lelapok, o tiak mau, o apwali men kairu, o koiok on padak;
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3 A der kamom joko, o jo pamara, a en materok, o der inon ion akamai, o der pok on moni.
Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
4 Me kin kaunda mau pein toun im a, o me na jeri kan kin peiki on ni tiak pun.
One that rules well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5 A ma amen, me jokoiok on kaunda pein toun im a, iaduen a pan kak kaunda momodijou en Kot?
(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
6 Pil kaidin jaulan kap amen, pwe a ende aklapalap, ap lodi on kadeik en tewil.
Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7 O en pil kalok mau ren me mi liki, pwe a de lodi on kanamenok o katikatiamau pan tewil.
Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8 Pil dueta jaunkoa kan en lelapok, jo lo riapot, jo kamom joko, jo noroke moni.
Likewise must the deacons be grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
9 Me kin kolekol nan injen arail makelekel rir en pojon.
Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10 Mepukat en kajojonla maj, irail ap pan papa, ma irail me pun.
And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
11 Pil dueta en jaunkoa ar warok kan, ren wia me kon on, o jo likinekine, o jo kowei kodo, o melel ni meakaroj.
Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
12 Jaunkoa kan en warok en li ta men o ren kaunda mau nair jeri kan o toun im arail.
Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
13 A me papa mau, kin kalok maui pein irail, o re pan pereperenki melel pojon me mi ren Krijtuj Iejuj.
For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
14 Mepukat i intin won uk, o i kaporoporeki, me i pan pwarala re om madan.
These things write I to you, hoping to come to you shortly:
15 A ma i pwapwand, koe en aja duen me koe pan wia nan tanpaj en Kot, iei momodijou en Kot ieiaj, o ur o pajon en melel.
But if I tarry long, that you may know how you ought to behave yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
16 Meid lapalap rir en pai ren Kot: Kot janjaleda ni uduk, ap diarokada me pun amen ren Nen, ap pwaralan tounlaw kan, ap lolok on men liki kan, ap kamelel lar ren toun jappa, ap peukadalan waja linan.
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
