< Yohani 6 >

1 Shakapanu, Yesu kalokiti litanda lya Galilaya ama litanda lya Tiberiya
After this, Jesus crossed the Sea of Galilee – otherwise called the Lake of Tiberias.
2 Lipinga likulu lya wantu limfatiti toziya wantu awa waweriti wawona mauzauza gakuwi ga kuwaponiziya walweli
A great crowd of people, however, followed him, because they saw the signs of his mission in his work among those who were sick.
3 Yesu kakweniti mulugongu, kalivaga pamuhera na wafundwa wakuwi.
Jesus went up the hill, and sat down there with his disciples.
4 Msambu gwa Wayawudi gwa Pasaka guweriti gwapakwegera.
It was near the time of the Jewish Festival of the Passover.
5 Su, Yesu kalola wega zoseri na kuwona lipinga likulu lya wantu lyankumwizira, kamkosiya Filipu, “Tuhemeri koshi mabumunda su wantu awa wapati kuliya?”
Looking up, and noticing that a great crowd was coming towards him, Jesus said to Philip, ‘Where are we to buy bread for these people to eat?’
6 Katakuliti aga kumjera Filipu, kavimaniti kala mweni hakavinyawi.
He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he meant to do.
7 Filipu kamwankula, “Mabumunda ga mpiya sha shibenamgongu sha myezi sita hashiwatoshi ndiri wantu awa.”
‘Even if we spent a years’ wages on bread,’ answered Philip, ‘it would not be enough for each of them to have a little.’
8 Yumu gwa Wafundwa wakuwi yawamshema Andereya, mlongu gwakuwi Simoni Peteru kamgambira,
‘There is a boy here,’ said Andrew, another of his disciples, Simon Peter’s brother,
9 “Panu pana muntemba yumu kawera na mabumunda muhanu na wasomba wawili. Kumbiti avi vitosha ndiri kwa wantu wavuwa handa awa?”
‘Who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what is that for so many?’
10 Yesu katakula, “muwagambirani wantu walivagi pasi.” Paweriti na mahamba pahala palii. Wantu walivagiti. Paweriti wapalu elufu muhanu.
‘Make the people sit down,’ said Jesus. It was a grassy spot; so the people, who numbered about five thousand, sat down,
11 Yesu katola mabumunda galii, kalonga mayagashii Mlungu, kawapanana wantu yawalivagiti pasi. Katenda hangu na wasomba walii.
and then Jesus took the loaves, and, after saying the thanksgiving, distributed them to those who were sitting down; and the same with the fish, giving the people as much as they wanted.
12 Wantu pawikutiti Yesu kawagambira Wafundwa wakuwi, wajojaniri vipandi vyavisigaliti, namwasa shintu.
When they were satisfied, Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Collect the broken pieces that are left, so that nothing may be wasted.’
13 Su, wavitula pamuhera vipandi vyavisigaliti vya mabumunda wavimemiziya mumajamanda lilongu na mawili kulawa kwa mabumunda muhanu galii.
The disciples did so, and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves, which were left after all had eaten.
14 Wantu pawaliwoniti liuzauza ali Yesu lyakalitenditi, watakula, “Nakaka ayu ndo mweni mbuyi gwa Mlungu yakiziti pasipanu.”
When the people saw the signs which Jesus gave, they said, ‘This is certainly the prophet who was to come into the world.’
15 Yesu kavimana handa wantu wafiriti kumtola kwa makakala wamtendi mfalumi, kawukiti kayi kagenditi palugongu gweka yakuwi.
But Jesus, having discovered that they were intending to come and carry him off to make him king, went again up the hill, quite alone.
16 Payisokiti pamihi, Wafundwa wakuwi wasokiti kulitanda,
When evening fell, his disciples went down to the sea,
17 Wakwena mumtumbwi, su waloki kugenda Kafarinaumu. Ntiti iweriti yankwingira na Yesu kaweriti kankali kuwayizira.
and, getting into a boat, began to cross to Capernaum. By this time darkness had set in, and Jesus had not yet come back to them;
18 Liyega liweriti lyankuvuma na mawimbi ga mashi gaweriti gakutindira.
the sea, too, was getting rough, for a strong wind was blowing.
19 Wafundwa pawaweriti wankugenda kutali kwa kilumita muhanu ama sita, wamwoniti Yesu kankugendagenda pamashi, kaweriti pakwegera na mtumbwi, womberi watiriti nentu.
When they had rowed three or four miles, they caught sight of him walking on the water and approaching the boat, and they were frightened.
20 Yesu kawagambira, “Namtira, ndo neni!”
But Jesus said to them, ‘It is I; do not be afraid!’
21 Su womberi wafiriti kumtola Yesu mumtumbwi na palaa palii mtumbwi gusokiti muisi pahala pawaweriti wankugenda.
And after this they were glad to take him into the boat; and the boat at once arrived off the shore, for which they had been making.
22 Shirawu yakuwi wantu wavuwa wasigaliti uwega gwa pili wa litanda, wavimaniti handa kuweriti na mtumbwi gumu hera palii. Womberi wavimaniti kuwera Yesu hapeni kagendi na wafundwa wakuwi, kumbiti wafundwa wakuwi wagenditi pawamleka Yesu.
The people who remained on the other side of the sea had seen that only one boat had been there, and that Jesus had not gone into it with his disciples, but that they had left without him.
23 Mitumbwi imonga ilawa Tiberiya isoka pahala lipinga lya wantu pawaliyiti mabumunda, shipindi Mtuwa pakalongiti mayagashii Mlungu.
Some boats, however, had come from Tiberias, from near the spot where they had eaten the bread after the Master had said the thanksgiving.
24 Su, wantu awa pawavimaniti handa Yesu na wafundwa wakuwi waweriti ndiri pahala paliya, wakwena mtumbwi gumonga wagenda Kafarinaumu pawamsakula.
So, on the next day, when the people saw that Jesus was not there, or his disciples either, they themselves got into the boats, and went to Capernaum to look for him.
25 Wantu walii pawamwoniti Yesu kumwambu kulitanda wamkosiya, “Mfunda, gwiza ndiri panu?”
And, when they found him on the other side of the sea, they said, ‘When did you get here, Rabbi?’
26 Yesu kankula, “Nakaka nuwagambirani, mwankunsakula ndiri toziya mumaniti weri liuzauza lilii, kumbiti toziya muliyiti mabumunda galii mwikuta.
‘In truth I tell you,’ answered Jesus, ‘it is not because of the signs which you saw that you are looking for me, but because you had the bread to eat and were satisfied.
27 Namushitendera lihengu shiboga shashyalibika, kumbiti mushitenderi lihengu shiboga sha ukomu wa mashaka goseri. Ashi ndo shiboga Mwana gwa muntu hakakupanani, toziya Tati Mlungu kamjimira kutenda hangu.” (aiōnios g166)
Work, not for the food that perishes, but for the food that lasts for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you; for on him the Father – God himself – has set the seal of his approval.’ (aiōnios g166)
28 Womberi wamkosiya, “Tutendi shishi su tutendi vilii vyakafira Mlungu twenga tutendi?”
‘How,’ they asked, ‘are we to do the work that God wants us to do?’
29 Yesu kawankula, “Vintu vyakafira Mlungu ndo mwenga kumjimira ulii yakantumiti.”
‘The work that God wants you to do,’ answered Jesus, ‘is to believe in him whom God sent as his messenger.’
30 Wamgambira, “Hagutendi liuzauza gaa su tuloli tupati kukujimira? Hagutendi shintu gaa?
‘What sign, then,’ they asked, ‘are you giving, which we may see, and so believe you? What is the work that you are doing?
31 Wazewi wetu waliyiti shiboga shawashishema Mana kushiwala kulii, gambira Malembu galembwa, Kawayupiti libumunda kulawa kumpindi kwa Mlungu.”
Our ancestors had the manna to eat in the desert; as scripture says – “He gave them bread from heaven to eat.”’
32 Yesu kawagambira, “Nakaka nuwagambirani, Musa kawayupiti ndiri libumunda kulawa kumpindi kwa Mlungu, Tati gwangu ndo mweni kawapanani mwenga libumunda lya nakaka kulawa kumpindi.
‘In truth I tell you,’ replied Jesus, ‘Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but my Father does give you the true bread from heaven;
33 Toziya mabumunda ga Mlungu ndo ula ulii kasuluka kulawa kumpindi na kutupanana ukomu wa pasipanu.”
for the bread that God gives is that which comes down from heaven, and gives life to the world.’
34 Su, wamgambira, “Mtuwa, gutupi kila lishaka libumunda ali.”
‘Master,’ they exclaimed, ‘give us that bread always!’
35 Yesu kawagambira “Neni ndo libumunda lya ukomu. Walii yawiza kwaneni hawawoni ndiri njala, yakanjimira neni hawawoni ndiri kwimiluwa.
‘I am the life-giving bread,’ Jesus said to them, ‘whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never thirst again.
36 Nuwagambirani weri kulonga mumona, kumbiti munjimira ndiri.
But, as I have said already, you have seen me, and yet you do not believe in me.
37 Woseri ndo weni yakanupa Tati hawizi kwaneni, naneni hapeni numwingi yoseri yakiza kwaneni,
All those whom the Father gives me will come to me; and no one who comes to me will I ever turn away.
38 toziya niza kulawa kumpindi kwa Mlungu ira ntendi ndiri vilii vyanfira. Niza kutenda vilii vyakafira ulii yakantumiti.
For I have come down from heaven, to do, not my own will, but the will of him who sent me;
39 Uliya yakantumiti kafira aga, nanimwamizili yumu pakati pa walii yakanupiti, ira hanuwazyukusiyi woseri lishaka lya kupelera.
and his will is this – that I should not lose one of all those whom he has given me, but should raise them up at the Last day.
40 Mana shakafira Tati gwangu ndo ashi, kila yakamwona Mwana na kumjimira kawera na ukomu wa mashaka goseri. Neni hanuwazyukusiyi lishaka lya kupelera.” (aiōnios g166)
For it is the will of my Father that everyone who sees the Son, and believes in him, should have immortal life; and I myself will raise him up at the Last day.’ (aiōnios g166)
41 Su Wayawudi wanjiti kuhinginika kuusu yomberi toziya Yesu katakuliti, “Neni ndo libumunda lilawiti kupindi.”
The people began murmuring against Jesus for saying – “I am the bread which came down from heaven.”
42 Su womberi watakula, “Hashi, ayu Yesu ndiri mwana gwa Yosefu? Tumumana tati gwakuwi na mawu gwakuwi! Su, kaweza hashi kutakula kalawa kumpindi kwa Mlungu?”
‘Is not this Jesus, Joseph’s son,’ they asked, ‘whose father and mother we know? How is it that he now says that he has come down from heaven?’
43 Yesu kawagambira, “Mleki kuhinginika mwenga kwa mwenga.
‘Do not murmur among yourselves,’ said Jesus in reply.
44 Kwahera muntu kawezi kwiza kwaneni mpaka Tati yakantumiti pakamjega kwaneni, naneni hanumzyukisiyi muntu ayu ku ukomu lishaka lya kupelera.
‘No one can come to me, unless the Father who sent me draws him to me; and I will raise him up at the Last day.
45 Wambuyi wa Mlungu walembiti, ‘Wantu woseri hawafundwi na Mlungu.’ Kila muntu yakampikanira Tati na kulifunda kwa yomberi kizi kwaneni.
It is said in the prophets – “And they will all be taught by God.” Everyone who is taught by the Father and learns from him comes to me.
46 “Ayi yahera mana handa kamlamu muntu yakamwoniti Tati, payiweri ndiri uliya yakalawiti kwa Mlungu, uliya ndo yomberi yakamwoniti Tati.
Not that anyone has seen the Father, except him who is from God – he has seen the Father.
47 Nunkugambirani nakaka, yakanjimira kana ukomu wa mashaka goseri. (aiōnios g166)
In truth I tell you, the person who believes in me has eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
48 “Neni nalibumunda lya ukomu.
I am the life-giving bread.
49 Wambuyi wenu waliyiti mana kushiwala kulii, kumbiti wahowiti.
Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, and yet died.
50 Kumbiti libumunda lyalilawa kumpindi kwa Mlungu su muntu yoseri yakaliya hapeni kahowi.
The bread that comes down from heaven is such that whoever eats of it will never die.
51 Neni nalibumunda likomu lyalisulukiti kulawa kumpindi kwa Mlungu. Muntu yoseri yakaliya libumunda ali hakalikali mashaka goseri. Na libumunda lyanumupa yomberi ndo nshimba yaneni, yanuilaviya su wantu wa pasi panu waweri na ukomu.” (aiōn g165)
I am the living bread that has come down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, they will live for ever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.’ (aiōn g165)
52 Shapakanu Wayawudi wanjiti kulitakuliziyana nentu pakati pawu, “Kaweza hashi muntu ayu kutupanana nshimba yakuwi, tuliyi?”
They began disputing with one another, ‘How is it possible for this man to give us his flesh to eat?’
53 Yesu kawagambira, “Nankuwagambirani nakaka, pamuliya ndiri nshimba ya Mwana gwa Muntu na kulanda ndiri mwazi gwakuwi, hapeni muweri na ukomu.
‘In truth I tell you,’ answered Jesus, ‘unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink his blood, you have not life within you.
54 Yakaliya nshimba yaneni na kulanda mwazi gwangu kanawu ukomu wa mashaka goseri, naneni hanumzyukusiyi lishaka lya kupelera. (aiōnios g166)
Everyone who takes my flesh for their food, and drinks my blood, has eternal life; and I will raise them up at the Last day. (aiōnios g166)
55 Toziya nshimba yaneni ndo shiboga sha nakaka na mwazi gwangu ndo gwakulanda nakaka.
For my flesh is true food, and my blood true drink.
56 Yakaliya nshimba yaneni na kulanda mwazi gwangu, kenilikali mngati mwangu, naneni nulikali mngati mwakuwi.
Everyone who takes my flesh for their food, and drinks my blood, remains united to me, and I to them.
57 “Tati yakawera mkomu yakantumiti neni, toziya naneni nulikali viraa. Ntambu iraayi yoseri yakandiya neni hakalikali toziya yaneni.
As the living Father sent me as his messenger, and as I live because the Father lives, so the person who takes me for their food will live because I live.
58 Su, ali ndo libumunda lisulukiti kulawa kumpindi kwa Mlungu, handa ndiri libumunda lyawaliyiti wambuyi wenu. Pawaliyiti kala wahowiti, kumbiti wantu woseri wawaliya libumunda ali hawaweri na ukomu wa mashaka goseri.” (aiōn g165)
That is the bread which has come down from heaven – not such as your ancestors ate, and yet died; the person who takes this bread for their food will live for ever.’ (aiōn g165)
59 Yesu katakuliti aga pakaweriti kankufunda munumba ya Mlungu kulii Kafarinaumu.
All this Jesus said in a synagogue, when he was teaching in Capernaum.
60 Su wantu wavuwa wafundwa wakuwi pawapikaniriti aga watakula, “Aga ndo mafundu gakamala! Gani kaweza kugapikanira?”
On hearing it, many of his disciples said, ‘This is harsh doctrine! Who can bear to listen to it?’
61 Yesu kavimaniti pota nakugambirwa na muntu, kulonga wafundwa wakuwi waweriti wankuhiginika kuusu shitwatila ashi, su kawakosiiti, “Hashi, shitwatila ashi shiwatenda muweri ndiri na nakaka?
But Jesus, aware that his disciples were murmuring about it, said to them,
62 Haiweri hashi pamumwona Mwana gwa Muntu pakakwena kugenda pahala palii pakaweriti pakwanjira?
‘Is this a hindrance to you? What, then, if you should see the Son of Man ascending where he was before?
63 Rohu gwa Mlungu ndo yakajega ukomu, nshimba ya muntu hapeni iwezi. Visoweru vyanuwagambirani ndo vya Rohu yakajega ukomu.
It is the Spirit that gives life; human strength achieves nothing. In the teaching that I have been giving you there is Spirit and there is life.
64 Ata hangu wamonga wenu wajimira ndiri.” Yesu kavimaniti kwanjira pakwanjira walii yawajimira ndiri, viraa ndo gaa hakamgalambuki.
Yet there are some of you who do not believe in me.’ For Jesus knew from the first who they were that did not believe in him, and who it was that would betray him;
65 Yesu kongeriti katakula kayi, “Ayi ndo toziya nuwagambiriti kulonga kwahera muntu yakaweza kwiza kwaneni pakawezeshwa ndiri na Tati gwangu.”
and he added, ‘This is why I told you that no one can come to me, unless enabled by the Father.’
66 Toziya ya aga, wamonga wavuwa wafundwa wa Yesu wawuyiti na waleka kumfata kayi.
After this many of his disciples drew back, and did not go about with him any longer.
67 Su, Yesu kawakosiiti wantumintumi walii lilongu na wawili, “Hashi, mwenga, mfira kuwuya kwenu?”
So Jesus said to the Twelve, ‘Do you also wish to leave me?’
68 Simoni Peteru kamwankula, “Mtuwa, tugendi kwa gaa? Gwenga gwana visoweru vya ukomu wa mashaka goseri. (aiōnios g166)
But Simon Peter answered, ‘Master, to whom would we go? Eternal life is in your teaching; (aiōnios g166)
69 Twenga tujimira vinu na tuvimana gwenga gwa Mnanagala yakiza kulawa kwa Mlungu.”
and we have learned to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.’
70 Yesu kawankula, “Hashi nuwasyagula ndiri mwenga lilongu na wawili? Ata hangu, yumu gwenu ndo Shetani!”
‘Didn’t I myself choose you to be the Twelve?’ replied Jesus, ‘and yet, even of you, one is playing the devil’s part.’
71 Yesu katakuliti aga kuusu Yuda, mwana gwa Simoni Isikariyoti, Yuda kaweriti yumu gwa wafundwa wakuwi kumbuti ndo hakamgalambuki Yesu.
He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who was about to betray him, though he was one of the Twelve.
