< Yohani 4 >

1 Mafalisayu wapikiniriti handa Yesu kaweriti kankubatiza na kankuwapata wafundwa wavuwa kuliku Yohani.
Accordingly when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard it said, "Jesus is making and baptizing more disciples than John,"
2 Kumbiti nakaka Yesu kawera ndiri kankubatiza ira wafundwa wakuwi ndo waweriti wankubatiza.
(though Jesus himself was not accustomed to baptize, but his disciples),
3 Yesu pakapikaniriti aga, kalawa Yudeya kagenda Galilaya,
he left Judea and returned to Galilee.
4 pamwanja gwakuwi kalazimika kupitila Samariya.
Now he had to pass through Samaria;
5 Su kafikiti Sikari, lushi lumu lwa Samariya, pakwegera na lirambu lilii Yakobu lyakamupiti mwana gwakuwi Yosefu.
so he came to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near the piece of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
Iweriti ipata saa sita paliwala.
Jacob’s Spring was there. So Jesus, tired out with his journey, was sitting thus by the spring.
7 Mdala Msamariya kiziti kuteka mashi na Yesu kamgambira, “Gunupi mashi nandi.”
It was about noon, and a woman of Samaria came to draw water.
8 Wafundwa wakuwi wagenditi mulushi kuhemera shiboga.
Jesus said to her, "Give me a drink" (for his disciples were gone away into the city to buy food.)
"How is it," answered the Samaritan woman, "that you who are a Jew ask a drink from me, a woman, and a Samaritan?" (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
10 Yesu kamwankula, “Handa meguvimaniti mafupu ga Mlungu na gaa yakakuluwa mashi ga kulanda, megumluwi na yomberi mekakupi mashi ga ukomu.”
"If you had known the free gift of God," Jesus answered, "and who it is that says to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked of him, and he would have given you living water."
11 Mdala uliya kalonga, “Mtuwa, gwenga gwahera shintu sha kutekera mashi na linegu ndo litalipa. Su, hagupati koshi mashi gana ukomu?
"Sir," said the woman, "you have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep; whence have you that living water?
Ashi gwenga gulitumba kuwera mkulu kuliku Yakobu?”
Surely you are not greater than our Father Jacob, who gave us the well, and used to drink from it himself, and his sons, and his cattle, too?"
13 Yesu kamwankula, “Woseri walanda mashi aga hawaweri na kwimiluwa kayi.
"All who drink of this water," Jesus answered, "will thirst again;
but whoever once drinks of the water that I will give him, shall never thirst any more, but the water that I will give him shall become a living spring of water within him, welling up into eternal life." (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
15 Mdala uliya kamgambira, “Mtuwa, gunupi mashi aga! Shakapanu hapeni numuluwi kayi na hapeni nizi kayi panu kuteka mashi.”
"Sir!" exclaimed the woman, "give me this water, so that I may not be thirsty, nor come all this way to draw water."
16 Yesu kamgambira, “Gugendi gwakamshemi mpalu gwaku gwizi nayomberi.”
Jesus said to her, "Go, call your husband, and then come here."
17 Mdala uliya kamwankula, “Neni nahera mpalu,” Yesu kamgambira, “Gutakula weri pagutakuliti gwahera mpalu.
"I have no husband," answered the woman. "You are right in saying ‘I have no husband,’"Jesus said to her,
18 Guyugwa na wapalu wamuhanu, yomberi yagulikala nayu vinu, mpalu gwaku ndiri. Gung'ambira nakaka.”
"for you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband; in this you have spoken truly."
19 Mdala uliya kamgambira, “Mtuwa, mona gwenga gwa mbuyi gwa Mlungu.
"I see, Sir, that you are a prophet," replied the woman.
20 Wambuyi wangu wa Samariya wamguwiriti Mlungu mulugongu alu, su mwenga Wayawudi mlonga kuwera Yerusalemu ndo pahala pa kumwabudu Mlungu.”
"Our forefathers worshiped in this mountain, yet you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one must worship."
21 Yesu kamgambira, “Mdala, gunjimira, shipindi shankwiza ndo sheni wantu hapeni wamguwira Tati mulugongu alu ama ku Yerusalemu.
"Woman, believe me," said Jesus, "that the hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.
22 Mwenga Wasamaliya muvimana ndiri nakaka yawamguwira, kumbiti twenga Wayawudi tumumana yatumguwira, toziya ulopoziya wiza kulawa kwa Wayawudi.
You are worshiping something you do not know. we know what we worship, for salvation comes from the Jews.
23 Kumbiti shipindi shankwiza na kayi shisoka kala, peni wawamguwira nakaka, hawamguwili Tati kwa likakala lya Rohu, wantu wamguwira hangu ndo Tati yakawafira.
But an hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. For the Father is seeking such as his worshipers.
24 Mlungu ndo Rohu, na wantu hawawezi hera kumwabudu nakaka kwa likakala lya Rowu gwakuwi.”
God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."
25 Mdala ulii kamgambira, “Nuvimana kuwera Kristu Mlopoziya yakasyagulitwi hakizi na pakiza hakatugambiri twenga kila shintu.”
"I know," said the woman, "that Messiah is coming, who is called the Christ; when he has come he will tell us everything."
26 Yesu kamgambira, “Neni, ndo yantakula na gwenga.”
Jesus said to her, "I who am now talking to you, am he."
Kwehera yumu pakati pawu yakamgambiriti mdala ulii, “Gufira shishi?” Ama kumkosiya Yesu, “Iwera hashi gwankutakula na mdala ayu?”
Just then his disciples came up, and were astonished that he was talking with a woman; yet not one of them asked him, "What do you want?" or "Why are you talking with her?"
Then the woman left her water-jar, and went away into the city and began saying to the people.
29 “Mwizi mloli muntu yakang'ambiriti vitwatira vyoseri vyantenditi. Hashi, iwezikana yomberi kawera Kristu yakasyagulitwi na Mlungu?”
"Come! see a man who has told me everything that I ever did. He can’t be the Christ, can he?"
30 Wantu walawa mulushi, wamgendera Yesu.
They left the city and set out to go to him.
31 Shipindi shila shiriya wafundwa waweriti wankumuhiga Yesu, “mfunda, gulii shiboga!”
Meanwhile the disciples kept urging him.
32 Su Yesu kawankula, “Neni nana shiboga shamshimana ndiri.”
"Rabbi," they said, "eat something." But he answered, "I have food to eat of which you know nothing."
33 Wafundwa wakuwi walitakuziyana weni, “Hashi, kwana muntu yoseri yakamjegiriti shiboga?”
So the disciples began to say to one another, "Can any one have brought him something to eat?"
34 Yesu kawagambira, “Shiboga shaneni ndo kugajimira gakafira ulii yakantumiti neni na kumalira lihengu lyakanupiti kutenda.
Jesus said to them. "My food is to do the will of Him who sent me, and to accomplish his work.
35 Mwenga mtakula, ‘Kunkali myezi ya msheshi hera, shipindi sha kubenanga hashisoki.’
Do you not say, ‘It wants yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you! Lift up your eyes and behold the fields, that they are already white for harvest.
The reaper is already receiving wages and gathering a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may rejoice together.
For in this respect the saying is true, ‘One sows, another reaps.’
38 Neni nuwatumiti mwenga mwakabeni viboga mulirambu mtenda ndiri lihengu, wamonga watenditi lihengu kulii na mwenga muna mota kulawirana na lihengu lyawatenditi.”
I sent you to reap a crop on which you have not toiled. Others have toiled, and you have reaped the benefit of their toil."
39 Wasamariya wavuwa mulushi lulii wamjimiriti Yesu toziya mdala uliya katakuliti, “Kang'ambiriti neni shintu shoseri shantenditi.”
Many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him because of the word of the woman when she declared, "He told me everything that I ever did."
So when the Samaritans arrived, they began asking him to remain with them; and he stayed there two days.
41 Wantu wavuwa wamjimiriti toziya ya ujumbi wakuwi,
Then many more believed because of what he said, himself; and they told the woman.
42 na womberi wamgambira mdala uliya, “Vinu twenga tujimira, toziya ndiri ya shilii shagutakuliti, ira toziya twenga tumpikanira twaweni na tuvimana kuwera nakaka ndo Mlopoziya gwa pasipanu.”
"We no longer believe because of what you said. for we ourselves have heard him, and we know that this is certainly the Saviour of the world."
43 Pagapititi mashaka mawili, Yesu kawukiti paliya na kugenda Galilaya.
After these two days Jesus went away from there into Galilee.
44 Mana Yesu mweni katakuliti, “Mbuyi gwa Mlungu hapeni kapananwi ligoya muisi yakuwi.”
For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
45 Pakafikiti Galilaya, wantu wa paliya wamshemiriti, toziya pawaweriti mumsambu gwa Pasaka kulii Yerusalemu wawonaga vitwatira vyoseri vyakatenditi Yesu shipindi sha msambu.
When he reached Galilee, however, the Galileans welcomed him, for they had seen all that he did in Jerusalem at the feast; for they, too, had been at the feast.
46 Su Yesu kawuyiti kayi Kana mumkowa gwa Galilaya, pahala pakagalambuziti mashi kuwera divayi. Afisa gwa sirikali kaweriti paliya mwana gwakuwi kaweriti kalwala ku Kafarinaumu.
So he came back again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. Now there was one of the king’s officers whose son was lying ill at Capernaum.
47 Pakapikaniriti handa Yesu kankwiza Galilaya pakalawila Yudeya, kamgendiriti yomberi na kumgambira kagendi Kaferinawumu na kamuponiziyi mwana gwakuwi, yakaweriti sambira kahowa.
When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea into Galilee, he went to him, and begged him to come down and heal his son who was lying at the point of death.
48 Yesu kamgambira, “Pamwona ndiri malangaliru na mauzauza, hapeni mjimiri!”
Then Jesus said to him, "Unless you all see signs and wonders, you will not believe."
49 Afisa ulii kamwankula, “Mtuwa, tugendi pamuhera vinu, mwana keni howi.”
"Sir," said the king’s officer, "come down before my little boy dies."
50 Yesu kamgambira, “Gugendi, mwana gwaku hakaweri mkomu!” Muntu uliya kavimaniti visoweru vya Yesu, su kagenda zakuwi.
Jesus answered. "Go your way. Your son lives." And the man believed the word which Jesus spoke to him, and started to go home.
51 Pakaweriti kankali kamunjira kuwuya ukaya kaliwoniti na wantumintumi wakuwi pawamjegera visoweru, “Mndemba gwakuwi kawera mkomu!”
And when he was already on his way down, his slaves met him, saying that his boy was living.
52 Kawakosiya shipindi gaa mwana gwakuwi pakaweriti mkomu na womberi wamwankula, “Iweriti saa saba paliwala lishu nshimba kupyupa paimlekeziyiti.”
So he asked them at what hour he had begun mend. They answered, "Yesterday, about one o’clock, the fever left him."
53 Tati uliya kaliholiti kuwera shipindi shiliya ndo Yesu pakamgambiriti, “Mwana gwaku hakaweri mkomu.”
Then the father realized that it had left him at the very hour when Jesus had said to him, "Your son lives," and he himself believed, and his whole household.
This is the second sign which Jesus performed, on returning from Judea to Galilee.
