1 Waganja wangu, alu vinu ndo luhamba lwa pili lwanuwalembera. Mumahamba aga mawili njeriti kuyumusiya nfiru ziherepa mumahala genu kwa kuwaholuziya vitwatira avi.

This letter which I am now writing to you, dear friends, is my second letter. In both my letters I seek to revive in your honest minds the memory of certain things,

2 Nfira muviholi visoweru vyavilongitwi makashu na wambuyi wananagala wa Mlungu, na lilagaliru lilii lyawapananitwi na Mtuwa na Mlopoziya kupitira wantumintumi wenu.

so that you may recall the words spoken long ago by the holy Prophets, and the commandments of our Lord and Saviour given you through your Apostles.

3 Pamberi pa aga, mfiruwa kuvimana kuwera mashaka ga upeleru hawizi wantu weni magenderanu gawu gakolwamlima na matamata zyawu zidoda, na hawawabezi.

But, above all, remember that, in the last days, men will come who make a mock at everything--men governed only by their own passions,

4 Womberi hawalongi, “Yomberi kawalagiliti kuwera hakizi, su vinu kakoshi? Vitwatira ndo viraa virii kwanjira wambuyi wetu pawahowiti, vintu ndo viraa virii ntambu yaviweriti kwanja pa kuwumbwa pasipanu!”

and, asking, "What has become of His promised Return? For from the time our forefathers fell asleep all things continue as they have been ever since the creation of the world."

5 Womberi kwa ng'anji wawulekiti unanaka awu kuwera Mlungu katakuliti shisoweru, mpindi ziweriti kwanjira makashu na pasipanu panyawitwi kulawa mumashi,

For they are wilfully blind to the fact that there were heavens which existed of old, and an earth, the latter arising out of water and extending continuously through water, by the command of God;

6 na Mlungu kagalagiliriti mafuriku ga mashi gahalibisiyi pasipanu pa makashu.

and that, by means of these, the then existing race of men was overwhelmed with water and perished.

7 Kumbiti kwa shisoweru shilaa ashi mpindi zya vinu na pasipanu zitulwa kwajili ya kuhalibisiwa kwa motu, pazitulwa mpaka lishaka lilii lya kuwatoza na kuwagamiziya wantu yawamguwira ndiri Mlungu.

But the present heavens and the present earth are, by the command of the same God, kept stored up, reserved for fire in preparation for a day of judgement and of destruction for the ungodly.

8 Waganja wangu, kumbiti namulyaluwa shintu shimu! Kulongolu kwa Mtuwa, lishaka limu liwera gambira vinja elufu yimu na vinja elufu yimu iwera gambira lishaka limu.

But there is one thing, dear friends, which you must not forget. With the Lord one day resembles a thousand years and a thousand years resemble one day.

9 Mtuwa kakawa ndiri kugatenda galii gakalagiliti gambira wantu wamonga ntambu yawalihola kuwera hakakawi. Yomberi kahepelera toziya ya mwenga, toziya kafira ndiri ata yumu gwenu kagamiri, kumbiti kawakwega woseri wapati kuleka vidoda vyawatenda.

The Lord is not slow in fulfilling His promise, in the sense in which some men speak of slowness. But He bears patiently with you, His desire being that no one should perish but that all should come to repentance.

10 Kumbiti lishaka lya Mtuwa halizi gambira shimpegu. Mpindi haziyagamiri kwa lirindimiru likulu, na kila shintu sha kulyera hashagamiziwi kwa motu, na pasipanu na kila shintu shashiweramu havilekwi hera.

The day of the Lord will come like a thief--it will be a day on which the heavens will pass away with a rushing noise, the elements be destroyed in the fierce heat, and the earth and all the works of man be utterly burnt up.

11 Toziya kila shintu hashiharabisiwi kwa ntambu ayi, su mwenga hamuweri wantu wantambu gaa? Mwenga mfiruwa kulikala makaliru mananagala na kumjimira Mlungu na kumpanana ligoya,

Since all these things are thus pre-destined to dissolution, what sort of men ought you to be found to be in all holy living and godly conduct,

12 pamulihepa lishaka lilii lya Mlungu na kulitenda lizi kanongola, lishaka lyeni mpindi hazilunguziwi nakamu kwa motu na kuhalibisiwa, na vintu vya kulyera haviyeyuki kwa livuki.

eagerly looking forward to the coming of the day of God, by reason of which the heavens, all ablaze, will be destroyed, and the elements will melt in the fierce heat?

13 Kumbiti kulawirana na lagila lya Mlungu, twankuhepa kuwera hakuweri na mpindi ya syayi na pasipanu pa syayi, pahala pa wantu yawamfiriziya Mlungu.

But in accordance with His promise we are expecting new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness will dwell.

14 Waganja wangu, pamuwera mwankulihepa lishaka lilii, mgangamali mukuherepa nentu pota na likosa lyoseri kulongolu kwa Mlungu, na kuwera na ponga nayomberi.

Therefore, dear friends, since you have these expectations, earnestly seek to be found in His presence, free from blemish or reproach, in peace.

15 Mwenga mfiruwa kuwona uhepelera wa Mtuwa kuwera ndo lupenu lyakawapanana su mpati kulopoziwa gambira Paulu mlongu gwetu yatumfira ntambu yakawalembiriti kwa luhala lyakapananitwi na Mlungu.

And always regard the patient forbearance of our Lord as salvation, as our dear brother Paul also has written to you in virtue of the wisdom granted to him.

16 Yomberi kalembiti shintu shilaa shilii mumahamba goseri pakavilongera vitwatira avi. Mumahamba gakuwi galii kwana vitwatira vyamonga vyavikamala kuvimana, wantu yawawera wazigizigi na yawagangamala ndiri ntambu yawagalambula mana ya Malembu Mananagala gamonga, su wagapotuziya kwa magomiziwu gawu weni.

That is what he says in all his letters, when speaking in them of these things. In those letters there are some statements hard to understand, which ill-taught and unprincipled people pervert, just as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own ruin.

17 Kumbiti kwa mwenga walongu wangu, mushimaniti kala shitwatira ashi. Su mulikali weri namwiza kupotuziwa na mafundu ga makosa ga wantu yawagajimira ndiri malagaliru na kuguwa kulawa muwugangamala wenu uherepa.

You, therefore, dear friends, having been warned beforehand, must continually be on your guard so as not to be led astray by the false teaching of immoral men nor fall from your own stedfastness.

18 Kumbiti mwendereyi kukula mumanemu na kumumana Mtuwa na Mlopoziya gwetu Yesu Kristu. Ukwisa uweri kwakuwi, vinu na ata mashaka goseri! Yina haa. (aiōn g165)

But be always growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be all glory, both now and to the day of Eternity! (aiōn g165)
