1 Walongu wayetu, kwahera toziya ya kuwalembelera mashaka na shipindi shakulawira shitwatira ashi.
But as to the times and the moments, there is no need, friends, for anyone to write to you.
2 Toziya maweni mwenga muvimana weri kuwera lishaka lya Mtuwa halizi gambira shimpegu ntambu yakiza pashiru.
You yourselves know well that the day of the Lord will come just as a thief comes in the night.
3 Wantu pawalonga, Kwana ponga na ulolera, uharibisiya haurawili vumu, gambira uvumu wa utama wa mdala yakawera na yinda yakawera kala kulera mwana, su wantu hapeni wayitiri.
When people are saying “All is quiet and safe,” it is then that, like birth pains on a pregnant woman, ruin comes suddenly upon them, and there will be no escape!
4 Kumbiti mwenga walongu mwamuluwindu ndiri, na lishaka ali lifiruwa ndiri kuwayizirani vumu gambira shimpegu ntambu yakiza.

5 Mwawoseri mwenga mwawananguta wa gulangala na wananguta wa paliwala, twenga twawantu ndiri wa pashiru ama wa luwindu.
For you all are children of light and children of the day. We have nothing to do with night, or darkness.
6 Su natugonja mpota gambira wamonga ntambu yawatenda, kumbiti hatafiruwi tulikali masu na kulilewelera.
Therefore let us not sleep as others do. No, let us be watchful and self-controlled.
7 Yawagonja mpota, wagonja pashiru na yawalowera, walowera pashiru.
It is at night that people sleep, and at night that drunkards get drunk.
8 Kumbiti twenga twawantu wa paliwala na tufiruwa kulikolamlima, tufiruwa kuvala njimiru na mafiliru gambira nguwu ya chuma ya kushinga pashifuwa, na litumbiru lyetu lya ulopoziwu gambira kofiya ya shuma ya kushinga mtuwi.
But let us, who belong to the day, control ourselves, and put on faith and love as a breast plate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.
9 Toziya Mlungu katusyaguliti ndiri twenga twagamiziwi na maya gakuwi, kumbiti kuwanka ulopoziya kupitira Mtuwa gwetu Yesu Kristu,
For God destined us, not for wrath, but to win salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us,
10 yakahowiti toziya ya twenga, ata patuwera wakomu ama tuhowa su twenga hatulikali pamuhera na yomberi pakizi kayi.
that, whether we are still watching or have fallen asleep, we may live with him.
11 Su mulitendi kuwera na moyu na mulitangi maweni ntambu yamtenda vinu.
Therefore encourage one another, and try to build up one another’s characters, as indeed you are doing.
12 Walongu wayetu, tuwaluwani muwayupi ligoya walii yawatenda lihengu pakati penu, walii yawawalongoziya mwenga Mumtuwa na kuwafundiza mwenga,
We beg you, friends, to value those who toil among you, and are your leaders in the Lord’s service, and give you counsel.
13 muwapanani ligoya likulu na kuwafira toziya ya lihengu lyawu. Muweri na ponga pakati penu.
Hold them in the very greatest esteem and affection for the sake of their work. Live at peace with one another.
14 Walongu wayetu, tuwagambirani muwaberiziyi wantu yawawera wapweri, muwatendi waweri na moyu wantu yawawera wagoyigoyi, na muwatangi wantu yawawera legilegi, muweri wantu wa kuhepelera.
We entreat you also, friends – warn the disorderly, comfort the faint-hearted, give a helping hand to the weak, and be patient with everyone.
15 Mloli muntu yoseri nakamwuzilira muyaguwi vidoda kwa vidoda, kumbiti mashaka goseri muliholi kuwatendera gaherepa wantu woseri.
Take care that none of you ever pays back wrong for wrong, but always follow the kindest course with one another and with everyone.
16 Mnemeleri shipindi shoseri.
Always be joyful;
17 Mumluwi Mlungu pota kutoka,
never cease to pray;
18 na mlongi mayagashii Mlungu muntambu zoseri, aga ndo mafiliru ga Mlungu kwa mwenga kulikolerana pamuhera na Kristu Yesu.
under all circumstances give thanks to God. For this is his will for you as made known in Christ Jesus.
19 Namumlema Rohu Mnanagala,
Do not quench the Spirit;
20 namuuzarawu ujumbi kulawa kwa Mlungu
do not make light of preaching.
21 kumbiti mpimi kila shintu, namleka shashiweriti shiheri,
Bring everything to the test; cling to what is good;
22 na mulikali patali na kila ntambu zya ukondola.
shun every form of evil.
23 Mlungu mweni gwa ponga, kawapunga nakamu mwenga muntambu zoseri na kaziloleri hweri rohu zyenu na myoyu na nshimba zyenu kutali na likosa lyoseri pakizaku kayi Mtuwa gwetu Yesu Kristu.
May God himself, the giver of peace, make you altogether holy; and may your spirits, souls, and bodies be kept altogether faultless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Yomberi yakawashema mwenga ndo mwaminika, hakatendi hangu.
He who calls you will not fail you; he will complete his work.
25 Walongu wayetu, twenga viraa mtuluwili kwa Mlungu.
Friends, pray for us.
26 Muwalamsiyi walongu woseri kwa lilanguliru lya mafiliru.
Greet all the Lord’s followers with a sacred kiss.
27 Nuwalagalira mwenga kwa litawu lya Mtuwa muwasomeri luhamba alu walongu woseri.
I order you in the Lord’s name to have this letter read to all the brethren.
28 Manemu ga Mtuwa gwetu Yesu Kristu gaweri pamuhera na mwenga.
May the blessing of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
