| قصیدۀ آساف. ای قوم من، به تعالیم من گوش فرا دهید و به آنچه می‌گویم توجه نمایید. | 1 |
An instruction. Of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my law; incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
| زیرا می‌خواهم با مَثَلها سخن گویم. می‌خواهم معماهای قدیمی را برایتان شرح دهم. | 2 |
I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter riddles from of old,
| می‌خواهم آنچه را که از نیاکان خود شنیده‌ام تعریف کنم. | 3 |
Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us:
| اینها را باید تعریف کنیم و مخفی نسازیم تا فرزندان ما نیز بدانند که خداوند با قدرت خود چه کارهای شگفت‌انگیز و تحسین برانگیزی انجام داده است. | 4 |
We will not hide [them] from their sons, shewing forth to the generation to come the praises of Jehovah, and his strength, and his marvellous works which he hath done.
| خدا احکام و دستورهای خود را به قوم اسرائیل داد و به ایشان امر فرمود که آنها را به فرزندانشان بیاموزند | 5 |
For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children;
| و فرزندان ایشان نیز به نوبهٔ خود آن احکام را به فرزندان خود تعلیم دهند تا به این ترتیب هر نسلی با احکام و دستورهای خدا آشنا گردد. | 6 |
That the generation to come might know [them], the children that should be born; that they might rise up and tell [them] to their children,
| به این ترتیب آنها یاد می‌گیرند که بر خدا توکل نمایند و کارهایی را که او برای نیاکانشان انجام داده است، فراموش نکنند و پیوسته مطیع دستورهایش باشند. | 7 |
And that they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but observe his commandments;
| در نتیجه آنها مانند نیاکان خود مردمی سرکش و یاغی نخواهند شد که ایمانی سست و ناپایدار داشتند و نسبت به خدا وفادار نبودند. | 8 |
And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that prepared not their heart, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.
| افراد قبیلهٔ افرایم با وجود اینکه به تیر و کمان مجهز بودند و در تیراندازی مهارت خاص داشتند، هنگام جنگ پا به فرار نهادند. | 9 |
The sons of Ephraim, armed bowmen, turned back in the day of battle.
| آنان پیمان خود را که با خدا بسته بودند، شکستند و نخواستند مطابق دستورهای او زندگی کنند. | 10 |
They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;
| کارها و معجزات او را که برای ایشان و نیاکانشان در مصر انجام داده بود، فراموش کردند، | 11 |
And forgot his doings, and his marvellous works which he had shewn them.
| کارهای شگفت‌انگیزی که برای نیاکانشان در دشت صوعن در سرزمین مصر انجام داده بود. | 12 |
In the sight of their fathers had he done wonders, in the land of Egypt, the field of Zoan.
| خدا دریای سرخ را شکافت و آبها را مانند دیوار بر پا نگه داشت تا ایشان از آن عبور کنند. | 13 |
He clave the sea, and caused them to pass through; and made the waters to stand as a heap;
| بنی‌اسرائیل را در روز به‌وسیلۀ ستون ابر راهنمایی می‌کرد و در شب توسط روشنایی آتش! | 14 |
And he led them with a cloud in the daytime, and all the night with the light of fire.
| در بیابان صخره‌ها را شکافت و برای آنها آب فراهم آورد. | 15 |
He clave rocks in the wilderness, and gave [them] drink as out of the depths, abundantly;
| بله، از صخره چشمه‌های آب جاری ساخت! | 16 |
And he brought streams out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
| ولی با وجود این، ایشان بار دیگر نسبت به خدای متعال گناه ورزیدند و در صحرا از فرمان او سر پیچیدند. | 17 |
Yet they still went on sinning against him, provoking the Most High in the desert;
| آنها خدا را امتحان کردند و از او خوراک خواستند. | 18 |
And they tempted God in their heart, by asking meat for their lust;
| حتی بر ضد خدا حرف زدند و گفتند: «آیا خدا می‌تواند در این بیابان برای ما خوراک تهیه کند؟ | 19 |
And they spoke against God: they said, Is God able to prepare a table in the wilderness?
| درست است که او از صخره آب بیرون آورد و بر زمین جاری ساخت، ولی آیا می‌تواند نان و گوشت را نیز برای قوم خود فراهم کند؟» | 20 |
Behold, he smote the rock, and waters gushed out, and streams overflowed; is he able to give bread also, or provide flesh for his people?
| خداوند چون این را شنید غضبناک شد و آتش خشم او علیه اسرائیل شعله‌ور گردید، | 21 |
Therefore Jehovah heard, and was wroth; and fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also went up against Israel:
| زیرا آنها ایمان نداشتند که خدا قادر است احتیاج آنها را برآورد. | 22 |
Because they believed not in God, and confided not in his salvation;
| با وجود این، خدا درهای آسمان را گشود | 23 |
Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and had opened the doors of the heavens,
| و نان آسمانی را برای ایشان بارانید تا بخورند و سیر شوند. | 24 |
And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them the corn of the heavens.
| بله، آنها خوراک فرشتگان را خوردند و تا آنجا که می‌توانستند بخورند خدا به ایشان عطا فرمود. | 25 |
Man did eat the bread of the mighty; he sent them provision to the full.
| سپس با قدرت الهی خود، بادهای شرقی و جنوبی را فرستاد | 26 |
He caused the east wind to rise in the heavens, and by his strength he brought the south wind;
| تا پرندگان بی‌شماری همچون شنهای ساحل دریا برای قوم او بیاورند. | 27 |
And he rained flesh upon them as dust, and feathered fowl as the sand of the seas,
| پرندگان در اردوی اسرائیل، اطراف خیمه‌ها فرود آمدند. | 28 |
And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations:
| پس خوردند و سیر شدند؛ آنچه را که خواستند خدا به ایشان داد. | 29 |
And they did eat, and were well filled; for that they lusted after, he brought to them.
| اما پیش از آنکه هوس آنها ارضا شود، در حالی که هنوز غذا در دهانشان بود، | 30 |
They were not alienated from their lust, their meat was yet in their mouths,
| غضب خدا بر ایشان افروخته شد و شجاعان و جوانان اسرائیل را کشت. | 31 |
When the anger of God went up against them; and he slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.
| با وجود این همه معجزات، بنی‌اسرائیل باز نسبت به خدا گناه کردند و به کارهای شگفت‌انگیز او ایمان نیاوردند. | 32 |
For all this, they sinned still, and believed not in his marvellous works;
| بنابراین خدا کاری کرد که آنها روزهایشان را در بیابان تلف کنند و عمرشان را با ترس و لرز بگذرانند. | 33 |
And he consumed their days in vanity, and their years in terror.
| هنگامی که خدا عده‌ای از آنان را کشت بقیه توبه کرده، به سوی او بازگشت نمودند | 34 |
When he slew them, then they sought him, and returned and sought early after God;
| و به یاد آوردند که خدای متعال پناهگاه و پشتیبان ایشان است. | 35 |
And they remembered that God was their rock, and God, the Most High, their redeemer.
| اما توبهٔ آنها از صمیم قلب نبود؛ آنها به خدا دروغ گفتند. | 36 |
But they flattered him with their mouth, and lied unto him with their tongue;
| دل بنی‌اسرائیل از خدا دور بود و آنها نسبت به عهد او وفادار نماندند. | 37 |
For their heart was not firm toward him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.
| اما خدا باز بر آنها ترحم فرموده، گناه ایشان را بخشید و آنها را از بین نبرد. بارها غضب خود را از بنی‌اسرائیل برگردانید، | 38 |
But he was merciful: he forgave the iniquity, and destroyed [them] not; but many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his fury:
| زیرا می‌دانست که ایشان بشر فانی هستند و عمرشان دمی بیش نیست. | 39 |
And he remembered that they were flesh, a breath that passeth away and cometh not again.
| بنی‌اسرائیل در بیابان چندین مرتبه سر از فرمان خداوند پیچیدند و او را رنجاندند. | 40 |
How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!
| بارها و بارها خدای مقدّس اسرائیل را آزمایش کردند و به او بی‌حرمتی نمودند. | 41 |
And they turned again and tempted God, and grieved the Holy One of Israel.
| قدرت عظیم او را فراموش کردند و روزی را که او ایشان را از دست دشمن رهانیده بود به یاد نیاوردند. | 42 |
They remembered not his hand, the day when he delivered them from the oppressor,
| بلاهایی را که او در منطقهٔ صوعن بر مصری‌ها نازل کرده بود، فراموش کردند. | 43 |
How he set his signs in Egypt, and his miracles in the field of Zoan;
| در آن زمان خدا آبهای مصر را به خون تبدیل نمود تا مصری‌ها نتوانند از آن بنوشند. | 44 |
And turned their rivers into blood, and their streams, that they could not drink;
| انواع پشه‌ها را به میان مصری‌ها فرستاد تا آنها را بگزند. خانه‌های آنها را پر از قورباغه کرد. | 45 |
He sent dog-flies among them, which devoured them, and frogs, which destroyed them;
| محصولات و مزارع ایشان را به‌وسیلۀ کرم و ملخ از بین برد. | 46 |
And he gave their increase unto the caterpillar, and their labour unto the locust;
| تاکستانها و درختان انجیرشان را با تگرگ درشت خراب کرد. | 47 |
He killed their vines with hail, and their sycamore trees with hail-stones;
| رمه‌ها و گله‌هایشان را با رعد و برق و تگرگ تلف کرد. | 48 |
And he delivered up their cattle to the hail, and their flocks to thunderbolts.
| او آتش خشم خود را همچون فرشتگان مرگ به جان ایشان فرستاد. | 49 |
He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and distress, — a mission of angels of woes.
| او غضب خود را از ایشان باز نداشت بلکه بلایی فرستاد و جان آنها را گرفت. | 50 |
He made a way for his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;
| همهٔ پسران نخست‌زادهٔ مصری را کشت. | 51 |
And he smote all the firstborn in Egypt, the first-fruits of their vigour in the tents of Ham.
| آنگاه بنی‌اسرائیل را از مصر بیرون آورد و آنها را همچون گلهٔ گوسفند به بیابان هدایت کرد. | 52 |
And he made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock;
| ایشان را به راههای امن و بی‌خطر راهنمایی کرد تا نترسند؛ اما دشمنان آنها در دریای سرخ غرق شدند. | 53 |
And he led them safely, so that they were without fear; and the sea covered their enemies.
| سرانجام خدا اجداد ما را به این سرزمین مقدّس آورد، یعنی همین کوهستانی که با دست توانای خود آن را تسخیر نمود. | 54 |
And he brought them to his holy border, this mountain, which his right hand purchased;
| ساکنان این سرزمین را از پیش روی ایشان بیرون راند؛ سرزمین موعود را بین قبایل اسرائیل تقسیم نمود و به آنها اجازه داد که در خانه‌های آنجا سکونت گزینند. | 55 |
And he drove out the nations before them, and allotted them for an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
| اما با این همه، خدای متعال را امتحان کردند و از فرمان او سر پیچیدند و دستورهایش را اجرا نکردند. | 56 |
But they tempted and provoked God, the Most High, and kept not his testimonies,
| مانند اجداد خود از خدا روی برتافتند و به او خیانت کردند و همچون کمانی کج، غیرقابل اعتماد شدند. | 57 |
And they drew back and dealt treacherously like their fathers: they turned like a deceitful bow.
| بتکده‌ها ساختند و به پرستش بتها پرداختند و به این وسیله خشم خداوند را برانگیختند. | 58 |
And they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.
| وقتی خدا چنین بی‌وفایی از اسرائیل دید، بسیار غضبناک گردید و آنها را به کلی طرد کرد. | 59 |
God heard, and was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:
| خیمهٔ عبادت را که در شیلوه بر پا ساخته بود ترک کرد | 60 |
And he forsook the tabernacle at Shiloh, the tent where he had dwelt among men,
| و صندوق مقدّس را که مظهر قدرت و حضورش در بین اسرائیل بود، به دست دشمن سپرد. | 61 |
And gave his strength into captivity, and his glory into the hand of the oppressor;
| بر قوم برگزیدهٔ خویش غضبناک گردید و آنها را به دم شمشیر دشمنان سپرد. | 62 |
And delivered up his people unto the sword, and was very wroth with his inheritance:
| جوانانشان در آتش جنگ سوختند و دخترانشان لباس عروسی بر تن نکردند. | 63 |
The fire consumed their young men, and their maidens were not praised in [nuptial] song;
| کاهنانشان به دم شمشیر افتادند و زنهایشان نتوانستند برای آنها سوگواری کنند. | 64 |
Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows made no lamentation.
| سرانجام خداوند همچون کسی که از خواب بیدار شود، و مانند شخص نیرومندی که از باده سرخوش گردد، به یاری اسرائیل برخاست. | 65 |
Then the Lord awoke as one out of sleep, like a mighty man that shouteth aloud by reason of wine;
| دشمنان قوم خود را شکست داده، آنها را برای همیشه رسوا ساخت. | 66 |
And he smote his adversaries in the hinder part, and put them to everlasting reproach.
| او فرزندان یوسف و قبیلهٔ افرایم را طرد نمود | 67 |
And he rejected the tent of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim,
| اما قبیلهٔ یهودا و کوه صهیون را که از قبل دوست داشت، برگزید. | 68 |
But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved;
| در آنجا خانهٔ مقدّس خود را مانند کوههای محکم و پابرجای دنیا، جاودانه بر پا نمود. | 69 |
And he built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which he hath founded for ever.
| سپس خدمتگزار خود داوود را که گوسفندان پدرش را می‌چرانید، برگزید. | 70 |
And he chose David his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:
| او را از چوپانی گرفت و به پادشاهی اسرائیل نصب نمود. | 71 |
From following the suckling-ewes, he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.
| داوود با صمیم قلب از اسرائیل مراقبت نمود و با مهارت کامل ایشان را رهبری کرد. | 72 |
And he fed them according to the integrity of his heart, and led them by the skilfulness of his hands.
