مزامیر 72

1 مزمور سلیمان. خدایا، عدالت‌خواهی خود را به پادشاه و ولیعهدش عنایت کن

Solomon’s. O God! thy justice, give, unto the king, And thy righteousness, unto the son of a king;

2 تا او بر قوم تو عادلانه حکومت و داوری کند و مظلومان را منصفانه دادرسی نماید.

May he judge, Thy people with righteousness; And thine oppressed ones with justice;

3 آنگاه در سراسر سرزمین ما سلامتی و عدالت برقرار خواهد شد.

May the mountains bring peace to the people, And the hills [be laden] with righteousness;

4 باشد که پادشاه به داد مظلومان برسد و از فرزندان فقیران حمایت کند و ظالمان را سرکوب نماید.

May he, Vindicate the oppressed of the people, Bring deliverance to the children of the needy, and, Crush the oppressor.

5 باشد که قوم تو، تا زمانی که ماه و خورشید در آسمان برقرارند، تو را پیوسته با ترس و احترام ستایش کنند.

Let men revere thee, With the sun, And in presence of the moon, Unto the remotest generation.

6 سلطنت پادشاه ما همچون بارانی که بر گیاهان می‌بارد و مانند بارشهایی که زمین را سیراب می‌کند، پربرکت خواهد بود.

Let him come down, Like rain on fields to be mown, Like myriad drops on land to be reaped.

7 در زمان حکومت او، عادلان کامیاب خواهند شد و تا وقتی که ماه باقی باشد، صلح و سلامتی برقرار خواهد بود.

May righteousness, in his days, blossom forth, And abundance of peace, till there be no moon.

8 دامنهٔ قلمرو او از دریا تا به دریا و از رود فرات تا دورترین نقطهٔ جهان خواهد بود.

So let him have dominion, From sea to sea, And from the River ["Euphrates"] unto the ends of the earth;

9 صحرانشینان در حضورش تعظیم خواهند کرد و دشمنانش به خاک پایش خواهند افتاد.

Before him, let the men of the desert kneel, But, as for his foes, the dust, let them lick;

10 پادشاهان جزایر مدیترانه و سرزمین ترشیش و نیز اهالی شبا و سبا برایش هدایا خواهند آورد.

The kings of Tarshish and of the Coastlands, A gift, let them render, The kings of Sheba and Seba, A present, let them bring;

11 همهٔ پادشاهان، او را تعظیم خواهند کرد و تمام قومها خدمتگزار او خواهند بود.

Yea let all kings, bow down unto him, Let, all nations, serve him;

12 وقتی شخص فقیر و درمانده از او کمک بخواهد، او را خواهد رهانید.

Because he Rescueth, The needy from the rich, The oppressed, who hath no helper;

13 بر افراد ضعیف و نیازمند رحم خواهد کرد و ایشان را نجات خواهد داد.

He Pitieth the weak and the needy, And, the lives of the needy, he Saveth:

14 آنها را از ظلم و ستم خواهد رهانید، زیرا جان آنها برای او با ارزش است.

From extortion, and, violence, he Redeemeth their life, And precious is their blood in his sight.

15 باشد که پادشاه پایدار بماند و مردم طلای شبا به او هدیه دهند. قوم او پیوسته برایش دعا کنند و او را متبارک خوانند.

Let him live, then! And be there given unto him of the gold of Sheba, —Let prayer also be offered for him continually, All the day, let him be blessed.

16 سرزمین او پر از غله شود و کوهستانها مانند کوههای لبنان حاصلخیز گردد. شهرها همچون مزرعه‌های پرعلف، سرشار از جمعیت شود.

May there be an abundance of corn in the earth, in the top of the mountains, —Let the fruit thereof, wave like Lebanon, And they of the city bloom like the fresh shoots of the earth.

17 نام پادشاه هرگز فراموش نشود و تا خورشید باقی است آوازهٔ او پایدار بماند. تمام قومهای جهان توسط او برکت خواهند یافت و او را خواهند ستود.

May his Name be age-abiding, In the presence of the sun, let his Name flourish, —And may all the families of the ground bless themselves in him, All nations, pronounce him happy!

18 متبارک باد خداوند، خدای اسرائیل! تنها او قادر است کارهای بزرگ و شگفت‌انگیز انجام دهد.

Blessed be Yahweh God, the God of Israel, —Who doeth wondrous things by himself alone;

19 شکر و سپاس بر نام مجید او باد تا ابدالاباد! تمام دنیا از شکوه و جلال او پر شود. آمین! آمین!

And blessed be his glorious Name, unto times age-abiding, —And filled with his glory be all the earth, Amen and Amen!
