مزامیر 60

1 برای رهبر سرایندگان. در مایۀ «سوسن شهادت». غزل داوود دربارۀ زمانی که با اَرام نَهَرَین و اَرام صوبه جنگید و یوآب بازگشته دوازده هزار نفر از اَدومیان را در درۀ نَمک کُشت. ای خدا، تو ما را طرد کرده‌ای، ما را پراکنده ساخته و بر ما خشمگین بوده‌ای؛ اما اینک به سوی ما بازگرد.

“To the chief musician upon Shushan'eduth, a Michtham of David, to teach, When he fought with Aram-naharayim, and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the Salt Valley twelve thousand [men].” O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast made a breach in us, thou hast been displeased: restore now unto us [thy favor].

2 زمین را لرزان ساخته و آن را شکافته‌ای؛ شکافهایش را به هم آور، زیرا نزدیک است متلاشی شود.

Thou hast caused the earth to quake; thou hast split it: heal her breaches; for she is moved.

3 به قوم برگزیده‌ات سختیهای فراوان داده‌ای؛ ما را همچون افراد مست گیج و سرگردان نموده‌ای.

Thou hast caused thy people to see hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of confusion.

4 اما برای کسانی که تو را گرامی می‌دارند پرچمی افراشته‌ای تا آنان را در مقابل تیرهای دشمن در امان داری.

Thou hast given to those that fear thee a banner, to elevate themselves, because of the truth. (Selah)

5 ای خدایی که ما را دوست داری، با قدرت خویش ما را نجات ده و دعای ما را اجابت فرما.

In order that thy beloved may be delivered: help with thy right hand, and answer me.

6 خدا در قدوسیت خویش سخن گفته و فرموده است: «با شادی شهر شکیم را قسمت می‌کنم و دشت سوکوت را اندازه می‌گیرم.

God hath spoken in his holiness: I will exult, I will divide Shechem, and the valley of Succoth will I measure out.

7 جِلعاد از آن من است و منسی نیز از آن من؛ افرایم کلاهخود من است و یهودا عصای سلطنت من.

Mine is Gil'ad, and mine is Menasseh; Ephraim also is the strong-hold of my head; of Judah are my chiefs;

8 اما قوم موآب را مانند لگن برای شستشو به کار خواهم برد، بر قوم ادوم کفشم را خواهم انداخت و بر فلسطین فریاد پیروزی برخواهم آورد.»

Moab is my washpot; upon Edom will I cast my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou but over me.

9 کیست که مرا برای گرفتن شهرهای حصاردار ادوم رهبری کند؟

Who will bring me into the fortified city? who will lead me as far as Edom?

10 خدایا، تو ما را رهبری کن، تو که اینک از ما روگردان شده‌ای و دیگر با سپاهیان ما نیستی!

Behold, it is thou, O God, who hast cast us off; and thou, O God, goest not forth with our armies.

11 تو ما را در جنگ با دشمن کمک کن، زیرا کمک انسان بی‌فایده است.

Give us help against the assailant; for vain is the help of man.

12 با کمک تو ای خدا، پیروز خواهیم شد، زیرا تو دشمنان ما را شکست خواهی داد!

Through God shall we do valiantly: and he it is that will tread down our assailants.
