مزامیر 49

1 برای رهبر سرایندگان. مزمور پسران قورَح. ای همهٔ قومهای روی زمین این را بشنوید! ای تمام مردم جهان گوش فرا دهید!

To him that excelleth. A Psalme committed to the sonnes of Korah. Heare this, all ye people: giue eare, all ye that dwell in the world,

2 ای عوام و خواص، ای ثروتمندان و فقیران، همگی

As well lowe as hie, both rich and poore.

3 به سخنان حکیمانهٔ من گوش دهید.

My mouth shall speake of wisdome, and the meditation of mine heart is of knowledge.

4 می‌خواهم با مثلی معمای زندگی را بیان کنم؛ می‌خواهم با نوای بربط این مشکل را بگشایم.

I will incline mine eare to a parable, and vtter my graue matter vpon the harpe.

5 چرا باید در روزهای مصیبت ترسان باشم؟ چرا ترسان باشم که دشمنان تبهکار دور مرا بگیرند

Wherefore should I feare in the euil dayes, when iniquitie shall compasse me about, as at mine heeles?

6 و آنانی که اعتمادشان بر ثروتشان است و به فراوانی مال خود فخر می‌کنند مرا محاصره نمایند؟

They trust in their goods, and boast them selues in the multitude of their riches.

7 هیچ‌کس نمی‌تواند بهای جان خود را به خدا بپردازد و آن را نجات دهد.

Yet a man can by no meanes redeeme his brother: he can not giue his raunsome to God,

8 زیرا فدیهٔ جان انسان بسیار گرانبهاست و کسی قادر به پرداخت آن نیست.

(So precious is the redemption of their soules, and the continuance for euer)

9 هیچ‌کس نمی‌تواند مانع مرگ انسان شود و به او زندگی جاوید عطا کند.

That he may liue still for euer, and not see the graue.

10 زیرا می‌بینیم که چگونه هر انسانی، خواه دانا خواه نادان، می‌میرد و آنچه را اندوخته است برای دیگران برجای می‌نهد.

For he seeth that wise men die, and also that the ignorant and foolish perish, and leaue their riches for others.

11 آنان املاک و زمینهای خود را به نام خود نامگذاری می‌کنند و گمان می‌برند که خانه‌هایشان دائمی است و تا ابد باقی می‌ماند.

Yet they thinke, their houses, and their habitations shall continue for euer, euen from generation to generation, and call their lands by their names.

12 غافل از اینکه هیچ انسانی تا به ابد در شکوه خود باقی نمی‌ماند بلکه همچون حیوان جان می‌سپارد.

But man shall not continue in honour: he is like the beastes that die.

13 این است سرنوشت افرادی که به خود توکل می‌کنند و سرنوشت کسانی که از ایشان پیروی می‌نمایند.

This their way vttereth their foolishnes: yet their posteritie delite in their talke. (Selah)

14 آنها گوسفندانی هستند که به سوی هلاکت پیش می‌روند زیرا مرگ، آنها را شبانی می‌کند. صبحگاهان، شروران مغلوب نیکان می‌شوند و دور از خانه‌های خود، اجسادشان در عالم مردگان می‌پوسد. (Sheol h7585)

Like sheepe they lie in graue: death deuoureth them, and the righteous shall haue domination ouer them in the morning: for their beautie shall consume, when they shall goe from their house to graue. (Sheol h7585)

15 اما خداوند جان مرا از عالم مردگان نجات داده، خواهد رهانید. (Sheol h7585)

But God shall deliuer my soule from the power of the graue: for he will receiue me. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)

16 نگران نشو وقتی کسی ثروتمند می‌شود و بر شکوه خانه‌اش افزوده می‌گردد!

Be not thou afrayd when one is made rich, and when the glory of his house is increased.

17 زیرا هنگامی که بمیرد چیزی را از آنچه دارد با خود نخواهد برد و ثروتش به دنبال او به قبر نخواهد رفت.

For he shall take nothing away when he dieth, neither shall his pompe descende after him.

18 هر چند او در زندگی خوشبخت باشد و مردم او را برای موفقیتش بستایند،

For while he liued, he reioyced himselfe: and men will prayse thee, when thou makest much of thy selfe.

19 اما او سرانجام به جایی که اجدادش رفته‌اند خواهد شتافت و در ظلمت ابدی ساکن خواهد شد.

He shall enter into the generation of his fathers, and they shall not liue for euer.

20 آری، انسان با وجود تمام فرّ و شکوهش، سرانجام مانند حیوان می‌میرد.

Man is in honour, and vnderstandeth not: he is like to beasts that perish.
