مزامیر 40

1 برای رهبر سرایندگان. مزمور داوود. با صبر و شکیبایی انتظار خداوند را کشیدم، و او به سوی من توجه نمود و فریادم را شنید.

To him that excelleth. A Psalme of David. I Waited paciently for the Lord, and he inclined vnto me, and heard my cry.

2 او مرا از چاه هلاکت و از گل و لای بیرون کشید و در بالای صخره گذاشت و جای پایم را محکم ساخت.

Hee brought mee also out of the horrible pit, out of the myrie clay, and set my feete vpon the rocke, and ordered my goings.

3 او به من آموخت تا سرودی تازه بخوانم، سرودی در ستایش خدایمان! بسیاری چون این را ببینند خواهند ترسید و بر خداوند توکل خواهند کرد.

And he hath put in my mouth a new song of praise vnto our God: many shall see it and feare, and shall trust in the Lord.

4 چه خوشبختند کسانی که بر خداوند توکل دارند و از اشخاص متکبر و خدایان دروغین پیروی نمی‌کنند.

Blessed is the man that maketh the Lord his trust, and regardeth not the proude, nor such as turne aside to lyes.

5 ای خداوند، خدای ما، تو کارهای شگفت‌انگیز بسیاری برای ما انجام داده‌ای و پیوسته به فکر ما بوده‌ای؛ تو بی‌نظیری! کارهای شگفت‌انگیز تو چنان زیادند که زبانم از بیان آنها قاصر است.

O Lord my God, thou hast made thy wonderfull workes so many, that none can count in order to thee thy thoughts toward vs: I would declare, and speake of them, but they are moe then I am able to expresse.

6 تو به قربانی و هدیه رغبت نداشتی؛ بلکه گوشهایم را باز کردی؛ قربانی سوختنی و قربانی گناه را نطلبیدی.

Sacrifice and offering thou didest not desire: (for mine eares hast thou prepared) burnt offring and sinne offering hast thou not required.

7 آنگاه گفتم: «اینک می‌آیم! در کتاب دربارۀ من نوشته شده است:

Then said I, Lo, I come: for in the rolle of the booke it is written of me,

8 اشتیاق من، ای خدا، انجام ارادۀ توست، زیرا دستورهای تو در دلم جای دارد.»

I desired to doe thy good will, O my God: yea, thy Lawe is within mine heart.

9 در اجتماع بزرگ قوم تو، به عدالت نجاتبخش تو بشارت داده‌ام. از سخن گفتن نترسیده‌ام، چنانکه تو، ای خداوند آگاهی.

I haue declared thy righteousnesse in the great Congregation: loe, I will not refraine my lippes: O Lord, thou knowest.

10 عدالت نجاتبخش تو را در دل خود پنهان نکرده‌ام. از امانت و قدرت نجاتبخش تو سخن گفته‌ام. در اجتماع بزرگ قوم تو، پیوسته از محبت و وفاداری تو سخن گفته‌ام.

I haue not hidde thy righteousnesse within mine heart, but I haue declared thy trueth and thy saluation: I haue not conceiled thy mercy and thy trueth from the great Congregation.

11 ای خداوند، لطف و رحمت خود را از من دریغ مدار. محبت و وفاداری تو همواره مرا حفظ کند.

Withdrawe not thou thy tender mercie from mee, O Lord: let thy mercie and thy trueth alway preserue me.

12 بلایای بی‌شماری مرا احاطه کرده و گناهان زیادم بر من سنگینی می‌کند به طوری که نمی‌توانم سرم را بلند کنم. در دل خود آرامش ندارم.

For innumerable troubles haue compassed mee: my sinnes haue taken such holde vpon me, that I am not able to looke vp: yea, they are moe in nomber then the heares of mine head: therefore mine heart hath failed me.

13 ای خداوند، رحم کن و مرا از این وضعیت نجات ده! به کمک من بشتاب!

Let it please thee, O Lord, to deliuer mee: make haste, O Lord, to helpe me.

14 بگذار خجل و سرافکنده شوند آنانی که قصد جانم را دارند؛ مغلوب و رسوا گردند کسانی که به دشمنی با من برخاسته‌اند؛

Let them be confounded and put to shame together, that seeke my soule to destroye it: let them be driuen backward and put to rebuke, that desire mine hurt.

15 خوار و پریشان شوند آنانی که مرا تحقیر و مسخره می‌کنند.

Let them be destroyed for a rewarde of their shame, which say vnto me, Aha, aha.

16 اما طالبان تو، ای خداوند، شاد و خوشحال شوند؛ و آنانی که نجات تو را دوست دارند پیوسته بگویند که خداوند بزرگ است!

Let all them, that seeke thee, reioyce and be glad in thee: and let them, that loue thy saluation, say alway, The Lord be praysed.

17 من فقیر و درمانده‌ام، اما خداوند برای من فکر می‌کند. ای خدای من، تو مددکار و رهانندهٔ من هستی، پس تأخیر نکن.

Though I be poore and needie, the Lord thinketh on mee: thou art mine helper and my deliuerer: my God, make no tarying.
