مزامیر 37

1 مزمور داوود. به سبب بدکاران خود را آزرده‌خاطر نکن و بر آدمهای شرور حسد مبر.

“Of David.” Do not fret thyself because of the evil-doers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

2 آنها مانند علف بی‌دوام، به‌زودی پژمرده شده، از بین خواهند رفت.

For like the grass they shall soon be mowed down, and like the green herb shall they wither.

3 بر خداوند توکل نما و نیکویی کن تا در زمین خود در کمال امنیت زندگی کنی.

Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed [thyself] with truthfulness.

4 با خداوند خوش باش و او آرزوی دلت را به تو خواهد داد.

And delight thyself in the Lord, and he will give thee the wishes of thy heart.

5 خودت را به خداوند بسپار و بر او تکیه کن و او تو را یاری خواهد داد؛

Commit thy way unto the Lord, and trust in him: and he will accomplish it.

6 او از حق تو دفاع خواهد کرد و خواهد گذاشت حقانیت تو مانند روز روشن بر همه آشکار شود.

And he will bring forth as the light thy righteousness, and the justice of thy [cause] as the noonday.

7 در حضور خداوند ساکت باش و با صبر و شکیبایی انتظار او را بکش. با دیدن کسانی که با نیرنگ و حیله در زندگی موفق می‌شوند، خود را پریشان نکن.

Be silent before the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who practices wicked devices.

8 خشم و غضب را ترک کن. خاطر خود را آزرده مساز تا گناه نکنی.

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

9 بدکاران هلاک خواهند شد اما کسانی که انتظار خداوند را می‌کشند از برکات او برخوردار خواهند گردید.

For evil-doers shall be cut off; but those that wait upon the Lord, these—shall truly inherit the land.

10 اشخاص شرور چندان دوامی نخواهند داشت؛ مدتی خواهند بود، ولی بعد از نظر ناپدید خواهند شد.

For yet but for a little while, and the wicked shall be no more: yea, thou wilt look carefully at his place, and he shall not be there.

11 اما فروتنان وارث زمین خواهند شد و در صلح و صفا خواهند زیست.

But the meek shall inherit the land, and shall delight themselves because of the abundance of peace.

12 آدم شرور از انسانهای با ایمان و نیکوکار نفرت دارد و برای آنها توطئه می‌چیند،

The wicked purposeth evil against the just, and gnasheth against him with his teeth.

13 اما خداوند به او می‌خندد، زیرا می‌بیند که روز داوری او نزدیک است.

The Lord will laugh at him; for he seeth that his day is coming.

14 اشخاص شرور شمشیرهای خود را کشیده‌اند و کمانهای خود را زه کرده‌اند تا فقیران و نیازمندان را هدف حملات خود قرار دهند و درستکاران را نابود سازند.

The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cause the poor and needy to fall, and to slaughter such as are of an upright course [of life].

15 اما شمشیرهای آنها به قلب خودشان فرو خواهند رفت و کمانهایشان شکسته خواهند شد.

[But] their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

16 اندک دارایی یک عادل با ارزشتر از ثروت هنگفت شریران است.

Better is the little that the righteous hath, than the great riches of many wicked.

17 زیرا خداوند نیروی شریران را از آنها سلب خواهد کرد، اما عادلان را محافظت خواهد نمود.

For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the upholder of the righteous is the Lord.

18 خداوند از زندگی افراد درستکار و امین مراقبت می‌کند؛ او به ایشان ارثی فسادناپذیر خواهد بخشید!

The Lord regardeth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall endure for ever.

19 آنها در زمان بلا زحمت نخواهند دید و حتی در ایام قحطی سیر خواهند بود.

They shall not be made ashamed in the time of unhappiness; and in the days of famine shall they be satisfied.

20 اما بدکاران نابود خواهند شد و دشمنان خداوند همچون گلهای وحشی زودگذر، پژمرده و فانی خواهند گردید و مانند دود ناپدید خواهند شد.

But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the beauty of the meadow: they pass away; in smoke they pass away.

21 آدم شرور قرض می‌گیرد و پس نمی‌دهد، اما شخص نیک با سخاوتمندی به دیگران کمک می‌کند.

The wicked borroweth, and repayeth not; but the righteous is beneficent, and giveth.

22 کسانی که برکت خداوند بر آنها باشد وارث زمین خواهند شد، اما آنانی که زیر لعنت خداوند قرار دارند ریشه‌کن خواهند شد.

For those blessed of him shall inherit the land; and those cursed of him shall be cut off.

23 خداوند قدمهای دوستداران خود را استوار می‌سازد؛

By the Lord are the steps of the righteous man established; and he findeth pleasure in his course [of life].

24 اگر بیفتند به آنان آسیبی نخواهد رسید، زیرا خداوند دست ایشان را می‌گیرد.

Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholdeth his hand.

25 از دوران جوانی تا امروز که پیر هستم ندیده‌ام که انسان عادل را خداوند ترک گفته باشد و فرزندانش گرسنه و محتاج نان باشند!

I have been young, and I am also grown old: yet have I never seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed seeking for bread.

26 انسان نیکوکار با سخاوتمندی می‌بخشد و قرض می‌دهد و خداوند فرزندانش را نیز برکت می‌دهد.

He is all the time beneficent, and lendeth: and his seed will be for a blessing.

27 اگر از بدی دوری نمایی و نیکویی کنی در زندگی پایدار و کامیاب خواهی شد.

Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.

28 زیرا خداوند انصاف را دوست دارد و عزیزان خود را ترک نمی‌کند، بلکه همیشه از آنها مراقبت می‌نماید. اما نسل شروران ریشه‌کن خواهد شد.

For the Lord loveth justice, and never forsaketh his pious servants: they are for ever preserved; but the seed of the wicked will be cut off.

29 عادلان دنیا را به ارث خواهند برد و تا به ابد در آن سکونت خواهند نمود.

The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell for ever therein.

30 از دهان عادل حکمت بیرون می‌آید و زبان او آنچه را راست است بیان می‌کند.

The mouth of the righteous uttereth wisdom, and his tongue speaketh what is just.

31 او شریعت خداوند را در دل خود جای داده است و از راه راست منحرف نخواهد شد.

The law of his God is in his heart: none of his steps shall slip.

32 شریران، عادلان را هدف قرار می‌دهند و درصددند آنها را از بین ببرند.

The wicked looketh out for the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.

33 اما خداوند ایشان را به دست شریران نخواهد سپرد و نخواهد گذاشت به هنگام داوری محکوم شوند.

The Lord will not leave him in his hand, and will not condemn him when he is judged.

34 به خداوند امیدوار باش و احکام او را نگاه دار و او به موقع تو را برکت خواهد داد و سرافراز خواهد نمود و تو به چشم خود نابودی شریران را خواهی دید.

Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he will exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, shalt thou look on.

35 شخص شریر و ظالمی را دیدم که همچون درختی سبز به هر سو شاخ و برگ گسترده بود.

I have seen the wicked terrible in power, and striking root like a green tree in its native soil.

36 اما طولی نکشید که از بین رفت و اثری از او باقی نماند؛ سراغش را گرفتم، ولی پیدا نشد.

Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was no more: and I sought him, but he could not be found.

37 اما شخص پاک و درستکار را ملاحظه کن! او عاقبت به خیر خواهد شد.

Observe the perfect man, and behold the upright; for there is a [happy] future for the man of peace.

38 اما عاقبت بدکاران نابودیست و همهٔ آنها هلاک خواهند شد.

But the transgressors are destroyed together: the future of the wicked is cut off.

39 خداوند عادلان را نجات خواهد داد و در سختیهای زندگی حامی آنها خواهد بود.

And the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord: he is their strong-hold in the time of distress.

40 خداوند به کمک آنها خواهد شتافت و آنها را از چنگ شریران خواهد رهانید، زیرا به او پناه می‌برند.

And the Lord helpeth them, and delivereth them; he will deliver them from the wicked, and save them; because they have put their trust in him.
