1 ای جان من، خداوند را ستایش کن! ای یهوه، ای خدای من، تو چه عظیمی!

Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, Thou art very great; Thou art clothed with glory and majesty.

2 تو خود را با عزت و جلال آراسته و خویشتن را با نور پوشانیده‌ای. آسمان را مثل خیمه گسترانیده‌ای

Who coverest Thyself with light as with a garment, who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain;

3 و خانهٔ خود را بر آبهای آن بنا کرده‌ای. ابرها را ارابه خود نموده‌ای و بر بالهای باد می‌رانی.

Who layest the beams of Thine upper chambers in the waters, who makest the clouds Thy chariot, who walkest upon the wings of the wind;

4 بادها فرستادگان تو هستند و شعله‌های آتش خدمتگزاران تو.

Who makest winds Thy messengers, the flaming fire Thy ministers.

5 ای خداوند، تو زمین را بر اساسش استوار کردی تا هرگز از مسیرش منحرف نشود.

Who didst establish the earth upon its foundations, that it should not be moved for ever and ever;

6 دریاها همچون ردایی آن را در برگرفت و آب دریاها کوهها را پوشاند.

Thou didst cover it with the deep as with a vesture; the waters stood above the mountains.

7 اما آبها از هیبت صدای تو گریختند و پراکنده شدند.

At Thy rebuke they fled, at the voice of Thy thunder they hasted away —

8 به فراز کوهها برآمدند و به دشتها سرازیر شده، به مکانی که برای آنها ساخته بودی، جاری شدند.

The mountains rose, the valleys sank down — unto the place which Thou hadst founded for them;

9 برای دریاها حدی تعیین نموده‌ای تا از آنها نگذرند و زمین را دوباره نپوشانند.

Thou didst set a bound which they should not pass over, that they might not return to cover the earth.

10 در دره‌ها، چشمه‌ها به وجود آورده‌ای تا آب آنها در کوهپایه‌ها جاری شود.

Who sendest forth springs into the valleys; they run between the mountains;

11 تمام حیوانات صحرا از این چشمه‌ها آب می‌نوشند و گورخرها تشنگی خود را برطرف می‌سازند.

They give drink to every beast of the field, the wild asses quench their thirst.

12 پرندگان بر شاخه‌های درختان لانه می‌سازند و آواز می‌خوانند.

Beside them dwell the fowl of the heaven, from among the branches they sing.

13 از آسمان بر کوهها باران می‌بارانی و زمین از نعمتهای گوناگون تو پر می‌شود.

Who waterest the mountains from Thine upper chambers; the earth is full of the fruit of Thy works.

14 تو علف را برای خوراک چارپایان، و گیاهان را برای استفاده انسان، از زمین می‌رویانی.

Who causeth the grass to spring up for the cattle, and herb for the service of man; to bring forth bread out of the earth,

15 تا دل انسان از شراب شاد گردد، روغن روی او را شاداب سازد و نان به جان او نیرو بخشد.

And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, making the face brighter than oil, and bread that stayeth man's heart.

16 درختان سرو لبنان که تو ای خداوند، آنها را کاشته‌ای سبز و خرمند.

The trees of the LORD have their fill, the cedars of Lebanon, which He hath planted;

17 مرغان هوا در درختان سرو لانه می‌سازند و لک‌لک‌ها بر شاخه‌های درختان صنوبر.

Wherein the birds make their nests; as for the stork, the fir-trees are her house.

18 کوههای بلند، چراگاه بزهای کوهی است و صخره‌ها، پناهگاه خرگوشان.

The high mountains are for the wild goats; the rocks are a refuge for the conies.

19 ماه را برای تعیین ماههای سال آفریدی و آفتاب را برای تعیین روزها.

Who appointedst the moon for seasons; the sun knoweth his going down.

20 به فرمان تو شب می‌شود. در تاریکی شب همهٔ حیوانات وحشی از لانه‌های خود بیرون می‌آیند.

Thou makest darkness, and it is night, wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth.

21 شیربچگان برای شکار غرش می‌کنند و روزی خود را از خدا می‌خواهند.

The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from God.

22 هنگامی که آفتاب طلوع می‌کند، آنها به لانه‌های خود برمی‌گردند و می‌خوابند.

The sun ariseth, they slink away, and couch in their dens.

23 آنگاه انسانها برای کسب معاش، از خانه بیرون می‌روند و تا شامگاه کار می‌کنند.

Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.

24 خداوندا، کارهای دست تو چه بسیارند. همه آنها را از روی حکمت انجام داده‌ای. زمین از مخلوقات تو پر است.

How manifold are Thy works, O LORD! In wisdom hast Thou made them all; the earth is full of Thy creatures.

25 در دریاهای بزرگی که آفریده‌ای جانوران بزرگ و کوچک به فراوانی یافت می‌شوند.

Yonder sea, great and wide, therein are creeping things innumerable, living creatures, both small and great.

26 کشتیها بر روی آب می‌روند، و لِویاتان، که تو برای بازی در دریا ساختی، در آن بازی می‌کند.

There go the ships; there is leviathan, whom Thou hast formed to sport therein.

27 تمام مخلوقات تو منتظرند تا تو روزی‌شان را به آنها بدهی.

All of them wait for Thee, that Thou mayest give them their food in due season.

28 تو دست خود را باز می‌کنی، به آنها روزی می‌دهی و آنها را با چیزهای نیکو سیر می‌کنی.

Thou givest it unto them, they gather it; Thou openest Thy hand, they are satisfied with good.

29 هنگامی که روی خود را از آنها برمی‌گردانی مضطرب می‌شوند؛ و وقتی جان آنها را می‌گیری، می‌میرند و به خاکی که از آن ساخته شده‌اند، برمی‌گردند.

Thou hidest Thy face, they vanish; Thou withdrawest their breath, they perish, and return to their dust.

30 اما زمانی که به مخلوقات جان می‌بخشی، زنده می‌شوند و به زمین طراوت می‌بخشند.

Thou sendest forth Thy spirit, they are created; and Thou renewest the face of the earth.

31 شکوه و عظمت خداوند جاودانی است و او از آنچه آفریده است خشنود می‌باشد.

May the glory of the LORD endure for ever; let the LORD rejoice in His works!

32 خداوند به زمین نگاه می‌کند و زمین می‌لرزد؛ کوهها را لمس می‌نماید و دود از آنها بلند می‌شود.

Who looketh on the earth, and it trembleth; He toucheth the mountains, and they smoke.

33 تا زنده‌ام، خداوند را با سرود، پرستش خواهم کرد و تا وجود دارم او را ستایش خواهم نمود.

I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have any being.

34 باشد که او از تفکرات من خشنود شود، زیرا او سرچشمه همهٔ خوشیهای من است.

Let my musing be sweet unto Him; as for me, I will rejoice in the LORD.

35 باشد که همهٔ گناهکاران نابود شوند و بدکاران دیگر وجود نداشته باشند. ای جان من، خداوند را ستایش کن! سپاس بر خداوند!

Let sinners cease out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, O my soul. Hallelujah.
