امثال 7
| پسرم، نصایح مرا بشنو و همیشه آنها را به یاد داشته باش. | 1 |
My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
| اوامر مرا به جا آور تا زنده بمانی. تعلیم مرا مانند مردمک چشم خود حفظ کن. | 2 |
Keep my commandments and live, and my law as the apple of thine eye.
| آن را آویزهٔ گوش خود بساز و در اعماق دل خود نگه دار. | 3 |
Bind them upon thy fingers. Write them upon the tablet of thy heart.
| حکمت را خواهر خود بدان و بصیرت را دوست خود. | 4 |
Say to wisdom, Thou are my sister, and call understanding thy kinswoman,
| بگذار حکمت، تو را از رفتن به دنبال زنان هرزه و گوش دادن به سخنان فریبندهٔ آنان باز دارد. | 5 |
that they may keep thee from the interloping woman, from the stranger who flatters with her words.
| یک روز از پنجرهٔ خانه‌ام بیرون را تماشا می‌کردم. | 6 |
For at the window of my house I looked forth through my lattice,
| یکی از جوانان نادان و جاهل را دیدم که در تاریکی شب از کوچه‌ای که در آن زنی بدکار منزل داشت، می‌گذشت. | 7 |
and I beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding
| 8 |
passing through the street near her corner. And he went the way to her house,
| 9 |
in the twilight, in the evening of the day, in the middle of the night and in the darkness.
| آن زن در حالی که لباس وسوسه‌انگیزی بر تن داشت و نقشه‌های پلیدی در سر می‌پروراند، به سویش آمد. | 10 |
And, behold, there met him a woman attired like a harlot, and wily of heart.
| او زن گستاخ و بی‌شرمی بود و اغلب در کوچه و بازار پرسه می‌زد تا در هر گوشه و کناری مردان را بفریبد. | 11 |
She is loud and headstrong. Her feet abide not in her house.
| 12 |
Now she is in the streets, now in the broad places, and lies in wait at every corner.
| آن زن بازوان خود را به دور گردن جوان حلقه کرده، او را بوسید و با نگاهی هوس‌انگیز به او گفت: | 13 |
So she caught him, and kissed him. With an impudent face she said to him,
| «امروز نذر خود را ادا کردم و گوشت قربانی در خانه آماده است. | 14 |
Sacrifices of peace offerings are with me. I have paid my vows this day.
| پس برای یافتن تو از خانه بیرون آمدم. در جستجوی تو بودم که تو را دیدم. | 15 |
Therefore I came forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
| بر رختخوابم ملافه‌های رنگارنگ از پارچهٔ حریر مصر پهن کرده‌ام و آن را با عطرهای خوشبو معطر ساخته‌ام. | 16 |
I have spread my couch with carpets of tapestry, with striped cloths of the yarn of Egypt.
| 17 |
I have perfumed my bed With myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
| بیا از یکدیگر لذت ببریم و تا صبح از عشق سیر شویم. | 18 |
Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning. Let us solace ourselves with love.
| شوهرم در خانه نیست و به سفر دوری رفته است. | 19 |
For the man is not at home. He has gone a long journey.
| به اندازهٔ کافی با خود پول برده و تا آخر ماه برنمی‌گردد.» | 20 |
He has taken a bag of money with him. He will come home at the full moon.
| به این ترتیب با سخنان فریبنده و وسوسه‌انگیزش آن جوان را اغوا کرد؛ | 21 |
With her much fair speech she causes him to yield. With the flattering of her lips she forces him along.
| و او مثل گاوی که به کشتارگاه می‌رود و گوزن به دام افتاده‌ای که در انتظار تیری باشد که قلبش را بشکافد، به دنبال آن فاحشه رفت. او مثل پرنده‌ای است که به داخل دام می‌پرد و نمی‌داند در آنجا چه سرنوشتی در انتظارش است. | 22 |
He goes after her straightaway, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks,
| 23 |
till an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hastens to the snare. And he does not know that it is for his life.
| پس ای پسرانم، به من گوش دهید و به سخنانم توجه کنید. | 24 |
Now therefore, ye sons, hearken to me, and attend to the words of my mouth.
| نگذارید چنین زنی دل شما را برباید. از او دور شوید، مبادا شما را به گمراهی بکشد. | 25 |
Let not thy heart decline to her ways. Go not astray in her paths.
| او بسیاری را خانه خراب کرده است و مردان زیادی قربانی هوسرانی‌های او شده‌اند | 26 |
For she has cast down many wounded. Yea, all her slain are a mighty host.
