عوبدیا 1

1 خداوند، آیندهٔ سرزمین ادوم را در رؤیایی به عوبدیا نشان داد. از جانب خداوند خبر رسیده که قاصدی با این پیام نزد قومها فرستاده شده است: «آماده شوید تا به جنگ ادوم برویم.»

The vision of Obdias. Thus saith the Lord God to Idumea; I have heard a report from the Lord, and he has sent forth a message to the nations.

2 خداوند می‌فرماید: «ای ادوم، تو را در میان قومها خوار و ضعیف می‌سازم.

Arise ye, and let us rise up against her to war.

3 از اینکه بر صخره‌های بلند ساکن هستی به خود می‌بالی و با غرور می‌گویی:”کیست که دستش در این بلندیها به من برسد!“خود را گول نزن!

Behold, I have made thee small among the Gentiles: thou art greatly dishonoured. The pride of thine heart has elated thee, dwelling [as thou dost] in the holes of the rocks, [as one that] exalts his habitation, saying in his heart, Who will bring me down to the ground?

4 اگر همچون عقاب به اوج آسمانها بروی و آشیانهٔ خود را بین ستارگان بر پا داری، تو را از آنجا به زمین می‌آورم.» این است آنچه خداوند می‌گوید.

If thou shouldest mount up as the eagle, and if thou shouldest make thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord.

5 «اگر دزدها شبانگاه آمده تو را غارت می‌کردند به مراتب برای تو بهتر می‌بود، زیرا همه چیز را نمی‌بردند! یا اگر انگورچینان به سراغ تو می‌آمدند پس از چیدن انگور خوشه‌ای چند باقی می‌گذاشتند!

If thieves came in to thee, or robbers by night, where wouldest thou have been cast away? would they not have stolen [just] enough for themselves? and if grape-gatherers went in to thee, would they not leave a gleaning?

6 اما اکنون ای ادوم، تو غارت خواهی شد و تمام ثروتت به یغما خواهد رفت.

How has Esau been searched out, and [how] have his hidden things been detected?

7 «تمام هم‌پیمانانت دشمن تو می‌شوند و دست به دست هم داده، تو را از سرزمینت بیرون می‌رانند. دوستان مورد اعتمادت، برای تو دام می‌گذارند و تو از آن آگاه نخواهی شد.»

They sent thee to thy coasts: all the men of thy covenant have withstood thee; thine allies have prevailed against thee, they have set snares under thee: they have no understanding.

8 خداوند می‌فرماید: «در آن روز در سراسر ادوم حتی یک شخص دانا باقی نخواهد ماند! زیرا من همهٔ دانایان ادوم را نابود خواهم کرد.

In that day, saith the Lord, I will destroy the wise men out of Idumea, and understanding out of the mount of Esau.

9 دلیرترین سربازان تیمان، هراسان خواهند گردید، و همه در کوهستان ادوم کشته خواهند شد.

And thy warriors from Thaeman shall be dismayed, to the end that man may be cut off from the mount of Esau.

10 «به سبب ظلمی که به برادر خود اسرائیل کردی رسوا و برای همیشه ریشه‌کن خواهی شد؛

Because of the slaughter and the sin [committed against] thy brother Jacob, shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.

11 زیرا اسرائیل را به هنگام سختی و احتیاجش ترک کردی. وقتی که مهاجمان، ثروت او را غارت می‌کردند و بر اورشلیم قرعه انداخته، آن را میان خود تقسیم می‌نمودند، تو کنار ایستاده، نخواستی هیچ کمکی به او بکنی و مانند یکی از دشمنانش عمل نمودی.

From the day that thou stoodest in opposition [to him], in the days when foreigners were taking captive his forces, and strangers entered into his gates, and cast lots on Jerusalem, thou also wast as one of them.

12 «تو نباید این کار را می‌کردی. وقتی که برادرانت را به سرزمینهای بیگانه می‌بردند، نمی‌بایست می‌نشستی و آنها را تماشا می‌کردی. در روز مصیبت مردم یهودا نمی‌بایست شادی می‌کردی و زمانی که در سختی بودند نمی‌بایست به آنها می‌خندیدی.

And thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day of strangers; nor shouldest thou have rejoiced against the children of Juda in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have boasted in the day of [their] affliction.

13 روزی که اسرائیل گرفتار این مصیبت و بلا شده بود، تو نیز به او بدی رساندی و رفته، غارتش کردی.

Neither shouldest thou have gone into the gates of the people in the day of their troubles; nor yet shouldest thou have looked upon their gathering in the day of their destruction, nor shouldest thou have attacked their host in the day of their perishing.

14 بر سر چهارراه‌ها ایستادی و کسانی را که سعی می‌کردند فرار کنند کشتی. در آن زمان وحشت و پریشانی، بازماندگان اسرائیل را دستگیر نموده، تحویل دشمن دادی.

Neither shouldest thou have stood at the opening of their passages, to destroy utterly those of them that were escaping; neither shouldest thou have shut up his fugitives in the day of affliction.

15 «من، خداوند به‌زودی از تمام قومها انتقام خواهم کشید. ای ادوم، همان‌طور که با اسرائیل رفتار کردی، با تو نیز به همان‌گونه رفتار خواهد شد. هر چه کردی بر سر خودت خواهد آمد.

For the day of the Lord is near upon all the Gentiles: as thou have done, so shall it be [done] to thee: thy recompense shall be returned on thine [own] head.

16 بر بالای کوه مقدّس من، جام مکافاتم را نوشیدی، قومهای دیگر نیز آن را خواهند نوشید. آری، آنها خواهند نوشید و از بین خواهند رفت و اثری از آنها باقی نخواهد ماند.

For as thou hast drunk upon my holy mountain, [so] shall all the nations drink wine; they shall drink, and go down, and be as if they were not.

17 «ولی کوه مقدّس من در اورشلیم، پناهگاه و محل نجات خواهد شد. اسرائیل سرزمین خود را دوباره تصرف خواهد نمود

But on mount Sion there shall be deliverance, and there shall be a sanctuary; and the house of Jacob shall take for an inheritance those that took them for an inheritance.

18 و مانند آتش، ادوم را خواهد سوزاند به طوری که از ادوم کسی باقی نخواهد ماند.» این را خداوند می‌فرماید.

And the house of Jacob shall be fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau [shall be] for stubble; and [Israel] shall flame forth against them, and shall devour them, and there shall not be a corn-field [left] to the house of Esau; because the Lord has spoken.

19 اهالی جنوب یهودا، کوهستان ادوم را اشغال خواهند کرد و اهالی جلگه‌های یهودا، دشتهای فلسطین را تصرف نموده، دوباره مراتع افرایم و سامره را به چنگ خواهند آورد و قبیلهٔ بنیامین، جلعاد را خواهد گرفت.

And they [that dwell] in the south shall inherit the mount of Esau, and they in the plain the Philistines: and they shall inherit the mount of Ephraim, and the plain of Samaria, and Benjamin, and the land of Galaad.

20 تبعیدشدگان اسرائیلی مراجعت نموده، فینیقیه را تا صرفه در شمال، اشغال خواهند کرد و آنانی که از اورشلیم به آسیای صغیر به اسارت رفته بودند، به وطن خود بازگشته، شهرهای جنوب یهودا را خواهند گرفت.

And this [shall be] the domain of the captivity of the children of Israel, the land of the Chananites as far as Sarepta; and the captives of Jerusalem [shall inherit] as far as Ephratha; they shall inherit the cities of the south.

21 نجات‌یافتگان از کوه صهیون در اورشلیم بالا خواهند رفت تا بر کوههای ادوم حکومت کنند و خودِ خداوند، پادشاه ایشان خواهد بود!

And they that escape shall come up from mount Sion, to take vengeance on the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord's.
