1 خداوند به موسی فرمود:

And Yahweh spake unto Moses, saying:

2 «دو شیپور از نقره چکش‌کاری شده درست کن و آنها را برای جمع کردن قوم اسرائیل و نیز برای کوچ دادن اردو به کار ببر.

Make thee two trumpets of silver, of beaten work, shalt thou make them, —and they shall be unto thee for calling the assembly, and for setting forward the camps.

3 هر وقت هر دو شیپور نواخته شوند، قوم بدانند که باید دم مدخل خیمهٔ ملاقات جمع شوند.

As soon as they blow therewith, so soon shall all the assembly assemble themselves unto thee, unto the entrance of the tent of meeting.

4 ولی اگر یک شیپور نواخته شود، آنگاه فقط سران قبایل اسرائیل پیش تو بیایند.

And, if, only once, they blow, then shall the princes, the heads of the thousands of Israel, gather themselves unto thee.

5 «وقتی شیپور کوچ نواخته شود، قبیله‌هایی که در سمت شرقی خیمهٔ عبادت چادر زده‌اند باید حرکت کنند.

But when ye blow an alarm, then shall set forward the camps that are encamped eastwards;

6 بار دوم که شیپور نواخته شود، قبیله‌های سمت جنوب راه بیفتند. برای کوچاندن قوم باید شیپور را با صدای تیز نواخت.

and when ye blow a second alarm, then shall set forward the camps that are encamped southwards, —an alarm, shall they blow for setting them forward,

7 اما وقتی برای جمع کردن جماعت شیپور را می‌نوازید باید با صدایی دیگر بنوازید.

But in calling together the convocation, ye shall blow but shall not sound an alarm.

8 فقط کاهنان نسل هارون مجازند شیپور بنوازند. این یک حکم دائمی است که باید نسل اندر نسل آن را بجا آورند.

And, the sons of Aaron the priests, shall blow with the trumpets, —and it shall be unto you for a statute age-abiding, unto your generations.

9 «وقتی در سرزمین موعود، دشمن به شما حمله کند و شما در دفاع از خود با آنها وارد جنگ شوید، شیپورها را بلند بنوازید تا یهوه خدایتان شما را به یاد آورد و از چنگ دشمنانتان نجات دهد.

And when ye go into war in your land against the assailant that assaileth you, then shall ye blow an alarm with the trumpets, —and bring yourselves to mind before Yahweh your God, and be saved, from your enemies,

10 در روزهای شاد خود نیز این شیپورها را بنوازید، یعنی در موقع برگزاری عیدها و اول هر ماه که قربانیهای سوختنی و قربانیهای سلامتی تقدیم می‌کنید و من شما را به یاد خواهم آورد. من خداوند، خدای شما هستم.»

And in your day of rejoicing and in your appointed seasons and in the beginnings of your months, then shall ye blow with the trumpets, over your ascending-sacrifices, and over your peace-offerings, —so shall they be unto you for a memorial before your God. I—Yahweh, am your God.

11 در روز بیستم ماه دوم از سال دوم، بعد از بیرون آمدن بنی‌اسرائیل از مصر، ابر از بالای خیمهٔ عبادت حرکت نمود.

And so it came to pass in the second year, in the second month on the twentieth of the month, that the cloud lifted itself up, from off the habitation of the testimony;

12 پس قوم اسرائیل از صحرای سینا کوچ کرده، به دنبال ابر به راه افتادند تا اینکه ابر در صحرای فاران از حرکت بازایستاد.

and the sons of Israel set forward by their removals from the desert of Sinai, and then the cloud abode in the desert of Paran.

13 پس از آنکه موسی دستورهای خداوند را در مورد کوچ قوم دریافت کرد این نخستین سفر ایشان بود.

Thus then did they set forward for the first time, —at the bidding of Yahweh, by the hand of Moses.

14 سربازان قبیلهٔ یهودا زیر پرچم بخش خود به رهبری نحشون پسر عمیناداب، پیشاپیش قوم اسرائیل حرکت می‌کردند.

So the standard of the camp of the sons of Judah set forward first, by their hosts, and over his own host, was Nahshon, son of Amminadab;

15 پشت سر آنها، سربازان قبیلهٔ یساکار به رهبری نتنائیل پسر صوعَر در حرکت بودند

and, over the host of the tribe of the sons of Issachar, Nethanel, son of Zuar;

16 و بعد از آنها سربازان قبیلهٔ زبولون به رهبری الیاب پسر حیلون.

and, over the host of the tribe of the sons of Zebulun, Eliab, son of Helon.

17 مردان بنی‌جرشون و بنی‌مراری از قبیلهٔ لاوی، خیمهٔ عبادت را که جمع شده بود بر دوش گذاشتند و به دنبال قبیلهٔ زبولون به راه افتادند.

Then was taken down the habitation, —and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari set forward bearing the habitation.

18 پشت سر آنها، سربازان قبیلهٔ رئوبین زیر پرچم بخش خود به رهبری الیصور پسر شدیئور حرکت می‌کردند.

Then set forward the standard of the camp of Reuben, by their hosts, —and over his own host, Elizur, son of Shedeur;

19 در صف بعدی، سربازان قبیلهٔ شمعون به رهبری شلومی‌ئیل پسر صوریشدای

and, over the host of the tribe of the sons of Simeon, Shelumiel, son of Zurishaddai;

20 و پس از آنها، سربازان قبیلهٔ جاد به رهبری الیاساف پسر دعوئیل قرار داشتند.

and, over the host of the tribe of the sons of Gad, Eliasaph, son of Deuel.

21 به دنبال آنها بنی‌قهات که اسباب و لوازم قدس را حمل می‌کردند در حرکت بودند. (بر پا سازی خیمهٔ عبادت در جایگاه جدید می‌بایستی پیش از رسیدن قهاتیان انجام می‌شد.)

Then set forward the Kohathites, bearing the sanctuary, —and so the habitation was reared by the time they came in.

22 در صف بعدی سربازان قبیلهٔ افرایم بودند که زیر پرچم بخش خود به رهبری الیشمع پسر عمیهود حرکت می‌کردند.

Then set forward the standard of the camp of the sons of Ephraim by their hosts, —and over his own host, was Elishama son of Ammihud;

23 قبیلهٔ منسی به رهبری جملی‌ئیل پسر فدهصور

and, over the host of the tribe of the sons of Manasseh, Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur;

24 و قبیلهٔ بنیامین به رهبری ابیدان پسر جدعونی پشت سر آنها بودند.

and, over the host of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, Abidan, son of Gideoni.

25 آخر از همه، سربازان قبایل بخش دان زیر پرچم خود حرکت می‌کردند. سربازان قبیلهٔ دان به رهبری اخیعزر پسر عمیشدای،

Then set forward the standard of the camp of the sons of Dan, bringing up the rear of all the camps, by their hosts, —and over his own host, Ahiezur, son of Ammishaddai;

26 سربازان قبیلهٔ اشیر به رهبری فجعی‌ئیل پسر عکران،

and, over the host of the tribe of the sons of Asher, Pagiel, son of Ochran;

27 و سربازان قبیلهٔ نفتالی به رهبری اخیرع پسر عینان به ترتیب در حرکت بودند.

and, over the host of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali, Ahira, son of Enan.

28 این بود ترتیب حرکت قبیله‌های اسرائیل با سربازانشان در هنگام کوچ کردن.

These, were the settings-forward of the sons of Israel by their hosts, —thus did they set forward.

29 روزی موسی به برادر زنش حوباب پسر رعوئیل مدیانی گفت: «ما عازم سرزمینی هستیم که خداوند وعدهٔ آن را به ما داده است. تو هم همراه ما بیا و ما در حق تو نیکی خواهیم کرد، زیرا خداوند وعده‌های عالی به قوم اسرائیل داده است.»

Then said Moses to Hobab, son of Raguel the Midianite, father-in-law of Moses: Setting forward, are we unto the place of which Yahweh hath said, The same, will I give unto you, —Oh come with us and we will do thee good, for, Yahweh, hath spoken good, concerning Israel.

30 ولی برادر زنش جواب داد: «نه، من باید به سرزمین خود و نزد خویشانم برگردم.»

And he said unto him, I will not go, —but unto my own land, and unto my own kindred, will I go.

31 موسی اصرار نموده، گفت: «پیش ما بمان، چون تو این بیابان را خوب می‌شناسی و راهنمای خوبی برای ما خواهی بود.

Then said he: I beseech thee, do not forsake us, —for, on this account, hast thou come to know of our encamping in the desert, so shalt thou be unto us as eyes;

32 اگر با ما بیایی، در تمام برکاتی که خداوند به ما می‌دهد شریک خواهی بود.»

and it shall be if thou wilt go with us, —yea it shall be that with the very good wherewith Yahweh shall do us good, will we do good unto thee.

33 پس از ترک کوه خداوند، مدت سه روز به سفر ادامه دادند در حالی که صندوق عهد پیشاپیش قبایل اسرائیل در حرکت بود تا مکانی برای توقف آنها انتخاب کند.

So then they went forward, from the mountain of Yahweh, a journey of three days, —and the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, was going before them a journey of three days, to search out for them a resting-place,

34 هنگام روز بود که اردوگاه را ترک کردند و سفر خود را در پی حرکت ابر خداوند آغاز نمودند.

And the cloud of Yahweh, was over them by day, —when they set forward out of the camp.

35 هرگاه صندوق عهد به حرکت در می‌آمد موسی ندا سر می‌داد: «برخیز ای خداوند تا دشمنانت پراکنده شوند و خصمانت از حضورت بگریزند.»

And it came to pass when the ark set forward, that Moses said: Arise, O Yahweh! and scattered be thy foes, Let them that hate thee flee before thee;

36 و هرگاه صندوق عهد متوقف می‌شد، موسی می‌گفت: «ای خداوند نزد هزاران هزار اسرائیلی بازگرد.»

But when it rested, he said, —Return, O Yahweh! unto the myriads of the thousands of Israel.
