نحمیا 9

1 در روز بیست و چهارم همان ماه، بنی‌اسرائیل جمع شدند تا روزه بگیرند. آنها لباس عزا بر تن داشتند و بر سر خود خاک ریخته بودند. بنی‌اسرائیل که خود را از تمام بیگانگان جدا کرده بودند ایستادند و به گناهان خود و اجدادشان اعتراف نمودند.

And in the twenty-fourth day of this month the sons of Israel have been gathered with fasting, and with sackcloth, and earth on them;

and the seed of Israel are separated from all sons of a stranger, and stand and confess concerning their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers,

3 حدود سه ساعت از تورات خداوند، خدایشان با صدای بلند برای ایشان خوانده شد و سه ساعت دیگر به گناهان خود اعتراف کردند و همه خداوند، خدای خود را پرستش نمودند.

and rise up on their station, and read in the Scroll of the Law of their God YHWH a fourth of the day, and a fourth they are confessing and bowing themselves to their God YHWH.

4 سپس یک دسته از لاویان به نامهای یشوع، بانی، قدمی‌ئیل، شبنیا، بونی، شربیا، بانی و کنانی روی سکو ایستادند و با صدای بلند نزد خداوند، خدای خود دعا کردند.

And there stand up on the ascent, of the Levites, Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, Chenani, and they cry with a loud voice to their God YHWH.

5 آنگاه یشوع، قدمی‌ئیل، بانی، حشبنیا، شربیا، هودیا، شبنیا و فتحیا که همگی از لاویان بودند با این کلمات قوم را در دعا هدایت کردند: «برخیزید و خداوند، خدای خود را که از ازل تا ابد باقی است، ستایش کنید! «سپاس بر نام پرجلال تو که بالاتر از تمام تمجیدهای ماست!

And the Levites say, [even] Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, Pethahiah, “Rise, bless your God YHWH, From age to age, And they bless the Name of Your glory That [is] exalted above all blessing and praise.

6 تو تنها خداوند هستی. آسمانها و ستارگان را تو آفریدی؛ زمین و دریا را با هر آنچه در آنهاست تو به وجود آوردی؛ و به همهٔ اینها حیات بخشیدی. تمام فرشتگان آسمان، تو را سجده می‌کنند.

You [are] He, O YHWH, Yourself—You have made the heavens, The heavens of the heavens, and all their host, The earth and all that [are] on it, The seas and all that [are] in them, And You are keeping all of them alive, And the host of the heavens are bowing themselves to You.

7 «ای خداوند، تو همان خدایی هستی که ابرام را انتخاب کردی، او را از شهر اور کلدانیان بیرون آوردی و نام او را به ابراهیم تبدیل نمودی.

You [are] He, O YHWH God, Who fixed on Abraham, And brought him out from Ur of the Chaldeans, And made his name Abraham,

8 او نسبت به تو امین بود و تو با او عهد بستی و به او وعده دادی که سرزمین کنعانی‌ها، حیتی‌ها، اموری‌ها، فرزی‌ها، یبوسی‌ها و جرجاشی‌ها را به او و به فرزندان او ببخشی. تو به قول خود عمل کردی، زیرا امین هستی.

And found his heart steadfast before You, So as to make with him the covenant, To give the land of the Canaanite, The Hittite, the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite, and the Girgashite, To give [it] to his seed. And You establish Your words, For You [are] righteous,

9 «تو رنج و سختی اجداد ما را در مصر دیدی و آه و نالهٔ آنها را در کنار دریای سرخ شنیدی.

And see the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, And their cry have heard by the Sea of Suph,

10 معجزات بزرگی به فرعون و سرداران و قوم او نشان دادی، چون می‌دیدی چگونه مصری‌ها بر اجداد ما ظلم می‌کنند. به سبب این معجزات، شهرت یافتی و شهرتت تا به امروز باقی است.

And give signs and wonders on Pharaoh, And on all his servants, And on all the people of his land, For You have known that they have acted proudly against them, And You make to Yourself a name as [at] this day.

11 دریا را شکافتی و از میان آب، راهی برای عبور قوم خود آماده ساختی و دشمنانی را که آنها را تعقیب می‌کردند به دریا انداختی و آنها مثل سنگ به ته دریا رفتند و غرق شدند.

And You have cleaved the sea before them, And they pass over into the midst of the sea on the dry land, And their pursuers You have cast into the depths, As a stone, into the strong waters.

12 در روز، با ستون ابر و در شب با ستون آتش، اجداد ما را در راهی که می‌بایست می‌رفتند هدایت کردی.

And by a pillar of cloud You have led them by day, And by a pillar of fire by night, To lighten to them the way in which they go.

13 «تو بر کوه سینا نزول فرمودی و از آسمان با ایشان سخن گفتی و قوانین خوب و احکام راست به ایشان بخشیدی.

And on Mount Sinai You have come down, Even to speak with them from the heavens, And You give to them right judgments, And true laws, good statutes and commands.

14 توسط موسی شریعت را به آنان دادی و روز مقدّس شَبّات را عطا کردی.

And Your holy Sabbath You have made known to them, And commands, and statutes, and law, You have commanded for them, By the hand of Your servant Moses;

15 وقتی گرسنه شدند، از آسمان به ایشان نان دادی، وقتی تشنه بودند، از صخره به ایشان آب دادی. به آنها گفتی به سرزمینی که قسم خورده بودی به ایشان بدهی داخل شوند و آن را به تصرف خود در بیاورند.

And bread from the heavens You have given to them for their hunger, And water from a rock have brought out to them for their thirst, And say to them to go in to possess the land That You have lifted up Your hand to give to them.

16 ولی اجداد ما متکبر و خودسر بودند و نخواستند از دستورهای تو اطاعت کنند.

And they and our fathers have acted proudly, And harden their neck, And have not listened to Your commands,

17 آنها نه فقط به دستورهای تو گوش ندادند و معجزاتی را که برای ایشان کرده بودی فراموش نمودند، بلکه یاغی شدند و رهبری برای خود انتخاب کردند تا دوباره به مصر، سرزمین بردگی برگردند. ولی تو خدایی بخشنده و رحیم و مهربان هستی؛ تو پر از محبت هستی و دیر خشمگین می‌شوی؛ به همین جهت ایشان را ترک نکردی.

Indeed, they refuse to listen, And have not remembered Your wonders that You have done with them, And harden their neck and appoint a head, To turn back to their service, in their rebellion; And You [are] a God of pardons, Gracious, and merciful, long-suffering, and abundant in kindness, And have not forsaken them.

18 با اینکه به تو اهانت نموده مجسمهٔ گوساله‌ای را ساختند و گفتند:”این خدای ماست که ما را از مصر بیرون آورد.“ایشان به طرق مختلف گناه کردند.

Also, when they have made to themselves a molten calf, And say, This [is] your god That brought you up out of Egypt, And do great despisings,

19 ولی تو به سبب رحمت عظیم خود ایشان را در بیابان ترک نکردی و ستون ابر را که هر روز ایشان را هدایت می‌کرد و نیز ستون آتش را که هر شب راه را به ایشان نشان می‌داد، از ایشان دور نساختی.

and You, in Your abundant mercies, Have not forsaken them in the wilderness—The pillar of the cloud has not turned aside from off them by day, To lead them in the way, And the pillar of the fire by night, To give light to them and the way in which they go.

20 روح مهربان خود را فرستادی تا ایشان را تعلیم دهد. برای رفع گرسنگی، نان آسمانی را به آنها دادی و برای رفع تشنگی، آب به ایشان بخشیدی.

And Your good Spirit You have given, To cause them to act wisely; And Your manna You have not withheld from their mouth, And water You have given to them for their thirst,

21 چهل سال در بیابان از ایشان نگهداری کردی به طوری که هرگز به چیزی محتاج نشدند؛ نه لباسشان پاره شد و نه پاهای ایشان ورم کرد.

And forty years You have nourished them in a wilderness; They have not lacked; Their garments have not worn out, And their feet have not swelled.

22 «ایشان را کمک کردی تا قومها را شکست دهند و سرزمینهایشان را تصرف کرده، مرزهای خود را وسیع سازند. ایشان سرزمین حشبون را از سیحون پادشاه و سرزمین باشان را از عوج پادشاه گرفتند.

And You give to them kingdoms, and peoples, And apportion them to the corner, And they possess the land of Sihon, And the land of the king of Heshbon, And the land of Og king of Bashan.

23 جمعیت ایشان را به اندازهٔ ستارگان آسمان زیاد کردی و آنها را به سرزمینی آوردی که به اجدادشان وعده داده بودی.

And You have multiplied their sons as the stars of the heavens, And bring them into the land That You have said to their fathers to go in to possess.

24 آنها به سرزمین کنعان داخل شدند و تو اهالی آنجا را مغلوب ایشان ساختی تا هر طور که بخواهند با پادشاهان و مردم آنجا رفتار کنند.

And the sons come in, and possess the land, And You humble the inhabitants of the land—the Canaanites—before them, And give them into their hand, and their kings, And the peoples of the land, To do with them according to their pleasure.

25 قوم تو شهرهای حصاردار و زمینهای حاصلخیز را گرفتند، خانه‌هایی را که پر از چیزهای خوب بود از آن خود ساختند، و چاههای آب و باغهای انگور و زیتون و درختان میوه را تصرف کردند. آنها خوردند و سیر شدند و از نعمتهای بی‌حد تو برخوردار گشتند.

And they capture fortified cities, and fat ground, And possess houses full of all good, Dug-wells, vineyards, and olive-yards, And fruit-trees in abundance, And they eat, and are satisfied, And become fat, And delight themselves in Your great goodness.

26 «ولی ایشان نافرمانی کردند و نسبت به تو یاغی شدند. به دستورهای تو توجه نکردند و انبیای تو را که سعی داشتند ایشان را به سوی تو بازگردانند، کشتند و با این کارها به تو اهانت نمودند.

And they are disobedient, And rebel against You, And cast Your law behind their back, And Your prophets they have slain, Who testified against them, To bring them back to You, And they do great despisings,

27 پس تو نیز آنها را در چنگ دشمن اسیر کردی تا بر ایشان ظلم کنند. اما وقتی از ظلم دشمن نزد تو ناله کردند، تو از آسمان، دعای ایشان را شنیدی و به سبب رحمت عظیم خود رهبرانی فرستادی تا ایشان را از چنگ دشمن نجات دهند.

And You give them into the hand of their adversaries, And they distress them, And in the time of their distress they cry to You, And You, from the heavens, hear, And according to Your abundant mercies, Give saviors to them, And they save them out of the hand of their adversaries.

28 ولی وقتی از امنیت برخوردار شدند باز گناه کردند. آنگاه تو به دشمن اجازه دادی بر ایشان مسلط شود. با این حال، وقتی قومت به سوی تو بازگشتند و کمک خواستند، از آسمان به نالهٔ ایشان گوش دادی و با رحمت عظیم خود ایشان را بارها نجات بخشیدی.

And when they have rest, They turn back to do evil before You, And You leave them in the hand of their enemies, And they rule over them; And they return, and call You, And You hear from the heavens, And deliver them many times, According to Your mercies,

29 به ایشان هشدار دادی تا به شریعت تو برگردند، ولی ایشان متکبر شده، به فرمانهای تو گوش نسپردند و بر احکام تو که هر که آنها را به جا می‌آورد زنده می‌ماند، خطا ورزیدند، و با سرسختی از تو رو برگردانیدند و نامطیع شدند.

And testify against them, To bring them back to Your law; And they have acted proudly, And have not listened to Your commands, And against Your judgments have sinned—Which man does and has lived in them—And they give a stubborn shoulder, And have hardened their neck, And have not listened.

30 سالها با ایشان مدارا کردی و به‌وسیلۀ روح خود توسط انبیا به ایشان هشدار دادی، ولی ایشان توجه نکردند. پس باز اجازه دادی قومهای دیگر بر ایشان مسلط شوند.

And You draw over them many years, And testify against them by Your Spirit, By the hand of Your prophets, And they have not given ear, And You give them into the hand of peoples of the lands,

31 ولی باز به سبب رحمت عظیم خود، ایشان را به کلی از بین نبردی و ترک نگفتی، زیرا تو خدایی رحیم و مهربان هستی!

and in Your abundant mercies You have not made them a consumption, Nor have forsaken them; For a God, gracious and merciful, [are] You.

32 «و حال ای خدای ما، ای خدای عظیم و قادر و مهیب که به وعده‌های پر از رحمت خود وفا می‌کنی، این همه رنج و سختی که کشیده‌ایم در نظر تو ناچیز نیاید. از زمانی که پادشاهان آشور بر ما پیروز شدند تا امروز، بلاهای زیادی بر ما و پادشاهان و بزرگان و کاهنان و انبیا و اجداد ما نازل شده است.

And now, O our God—God, the great, the mighty, And the fearful, Keeping the covenant and the kindness—Do not let all the travail that has found us be little before You, For our kings, for our heads, and for our priests, And for our prophets, and for our fathers, And for all Your people, From the days of the kings of Asshur to this day;

33 تو عادل هستی و هر بار که ما را مجازات کرده‌ای به حق بوده است، زیرا ما گناه کرده‌ایم.

And You [are] righteous concerning all that has come on us, For You have done truth, And we have done wickedly;

34 پادشاهان، سران قوم، کاهنان و اجداد ما دستورهای تو را اطاعت نکردند و به اخطارهای تو گوش ندادند.

And our kings, our heads, Our priests, and our fathers, Have not done Your law, Nor attended to Your commands, And to Your testimonies, That You have testified against them;

35 در سرزمین پهناور و حاصلخیزی که به ایشان دادی از نعمتهای فراوان تو برخوردار شدند، ولی تو را عبادت نکردند و از اعمال زشت خود دست برنداشتند.

And they, in their kingdom, And in Your abundant goodness, That You have given to them, And in the land, the large and the fat, That You have set before them, Have not served You, Nor turned back from their evil doings.

36 «اما اینک در این سرزمین حاصلخیز که به اجدادمان دادی تا از آن برخوردار شویم، برده‌ای بیش نیستیم.

Behold, we—today—[are] servants, And the land that You have given to our fathers, To eat its fruit and its good, Behold, we [are] servants on it,

37 محصول این زمین نصیب پادشاهانی می‌شود که تو به سبب گناهانمان آنها را بر ما مسلط کرده‌ای. آنها هر طور می‌خواهند بر جان و مال ما حکومت می‌کنند و ما در شدت سختی گرفتار هستیم.

And its increase it is multiplying to the kings Whom You have set over us In our sins; And over our bodies they are ruling, And over our livestock, According to their pleasure, And we [are] in great distress.

38 با توجه به این اوضاع، اینک ای خداوند ما با تو پیمان ناگسستنی می‌بندیم تا تو را خدمت کنیم؛ و سران قوم ما همراه لاویان و کاهنان این پیمان را مهر می‌کنند.»

And for all this we are making a steadfast covenant, And are writing, And over him who is sealed [Are] our heads, our Levites, [and] our priests.”
